Local Pub eatery and family friendly. We try to serve the best value fresh food cooked in the local area! Our menu has recently changed with the option of having larger meals. Large beer garden and cosy pub.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food wonderful. You have to be patient as everything is cooked from fresh. Old fashioned pub. Would recommend xx

The Raj is a friendly Indian restaurant, serving fine, traditional cuisine to Culcheth for 15 years. Whether your just looking for a mid-week meal, or celebrating something special, The Raj is the place to be.
I live in leicestershire but my family are Warrington / lowton areas and my dad used to use Raj quite a lot until a more local indian opened near him. Every year we have indian for my dads birthday when up visiting and the last couple of years he has used the other one. As we were up last weekend, we decided to have indian as a treat and suggested the Raj as we could collect it on the way to my dads. Placed order not long after opening and was told 30-40 min. I ended up collecting after 20 min but i explianed i was early, however, it was ready and waiting. Great friendly customer service. I was greeted as i walked in, even though the gentleman who greeted me was half way through greeting a dine in customer. I was then greeted by each bar staff who saw me and asked if i would like a drink whilst i waited for them to get my order, or asked if i was being served. The gentleman that brought my order, held open the door as i left. The food was hot and tasty and my dad has said he will be going back to the raj again and not bother with his local take away.

I vowed never to eat in a cafe in leigh. Leigh really doesn't provide quality and exceptional service. However my nan recommended here as she is a regular with our family. This is a place you must visit. I can not fault anything. The service was simply perfect. You waitress Ella is a credit to the establishment and the owner remarkably polite and so helpfully. I had the breakfast. I was thinking cheap food.. how wrong was I. Please try the scrambled eggs. So divine and cooked to perfection. Thank you so much for a wonderful dinning experience.

We booked a table at the Rani for 7.30pm
We arrived about 10 mins early and opened the door to what i call a road crash,
The place was packed! Very very noisy
Nearly every table had children and babies at them, not good when your in your 50s as we like fine dining and a quiet night out, not a trip to the Zoo.
We had to stand at the door and at the side of people eating as there wasn't any room to sit. As we waited we went through the menu and it was noted the Rani was under new management and as we looked at the prices and thought how cheap it was.
After about 15 mins a table was ready and we sat down and omg the noise was unbearable, kids shouting and playing hand clap games at the table and adults screeching in laughter constantly, not what I call good ! The waiter asked us what drinks we wanted and off he went and returned with our drinks.
We had already chosen what we wanted to eat as we were waiting at the door.
As we waited and waited for some one to take our order the waiter returned and he was off
By this time we needed more drinks so when our popadoms arrived he took another order for drinks
The tray of very small pots of chilli mango and onions and raita were only enough for 1 person
Eventually the starters arrived, 2 of us had onion Bahji, 1 had garlic mushrooms.
Bahjis were small but very tasty
Garlic musroom dish was a mass of pepper, onions and salad with about 3 small mushrooms chopped up small with lots or sliced burnt garlic not nice at all
So most of it was left on the plate.
After another long wait the mains arrived and at first glance looked good
2 had the Balti exotica mix,
1 the crab dish and were told it was "proper crab"
And I had my favourite mixed meat Rogan Josh
as I got stuck in i was struggling to find my chunks of lamb, chicken tikka and king prawn, it was more like a vegetarian dish no chunks at all just a couple of small shrimp and no more than a couple.
The 2 Balti exotica were the same 1 large prawn with a couple of small shrimps in lots of sauce
The Crab dish looked like a dollop of tuna fakes out of a tin with sauce on, it didn't look nice and tasted even worse
The garlic nan i ordered was lacking in garlic butter in fact it was a plain nan
The whole meal took 2 hours 40 mins
Overall we were all disappointed
Atmosphere 2/10. Way to noisy
Sevice. 2/10 Way to slow
Food. 2/10 laking in meats
Tast. 8/10 very tasty
Price. 5/10 cheap if you dont like meat

Koi Japanese Cuisine provides authentic Japanese food to the best quality.
Visited here for a friends birthday. The choice of food was wonderful and the staff went out of there way to make recommendations etc. The food was plentiful and cooked to perfection. Tasty, hot and plentiful.
Minor criticisms would be the drinks, bottled pop and overpriced. Also the restaurant was lacking in atmosphere, unfortunately it wasn’t very busy when we visited.
This place was so impressive food wise, try it out!!!

We are very proud to have won North West Chippy of the year in 2012 and 2013. Also on our menu is jacket potatoes , fresh salads, burgers and even gluten free options are available. Come and join us and enjoy a lovely cold Mythos beer or glass of wine with your meal.
We came here for my birthday with my parents who only like plain English cooking! We have eaten here numerous times and each time the fish has been perfectly cooked in light yummy batter. You have to have the meal deal with fish, chips, peas, cup of tea and bread and butter - you can't fault it. The young staff were great and added to a lovely evening.

Very busy on arrival. Looked like a 20 minute wait. But we were seated in 10 due to some skilful rearrangement from Emma. Nice hummus and pitta starter. Lovely chicken & chips. Supergrain salad v tasty. Tried sons chicken wings - good again. Enjoyed it.

Not sure if "unimpressed" from astley and Mr "average at best" whingers are eating at the same place as my wife and i or what standards they are comparing the Courtyard with but Im here to tell you that we have eaten on most continents of the world and in some of the allegedly best eateries and usually left significantly poorer and too often a bit disappointed but the Courtyard continues to not just impress but exceed our expectations.
So not only are we entirely with Miss W but we are there with knobs on! Of course everyone's entitled to their views but how anyone can reasonably moan about the excpetional offerings here amazes me. But then Im very old, but im also very fussy especially about food (and manners) so to balance the books a little, on behalf of my equally fussy fabulous wife, Id like to thanks you for not just excellent but exceptional food, great service and fantastic value. Perhaps thats why the Courtyard is always rammed and astley is where the elephants go to die:))

What a shame. This was an eat in experience which I am sorry to say doesn't meet the high standard of the food. We have had takeaway food from here many times and I still maintain that the indian food is the best in Leigh and we will probably continue to order food from here to take out. But for dining out, the service was very average to poor and blighted the experience of eating out to be honest. The 2 guys who tended our table were miserable and seemed distracted somehow. The place wasn't busy, so can't see any excuse for it. There were no pleasantry exchanges (sirs, madam, miss etc...), no assurances midway through the meal as to see if everything was ok - not once, there was absent mindedness when the order was being taken (he couldnt tell us if the rice was for one person or if he should just bring enough for all of us), he didn't understand that my wifes dish could be requested in a particular heat strength of your choice and when asked for it to be medium spiced, it was mild and said so on the reciept. When we had finished, one of the guys started to gather together the food we wished to take home, took a phone call and didn't return and just left it all at the table, I asked for the bill and again he didn't return and had to find the other fellow to ask for it again. In my opinion, when you eat out it isnt just about the food, its about getting ready and having a change of scenery and being waited on by pleasent, knowledgeable and punctual staff. For what it's worth, we won't eat out here again - as much as the food was great and will order take out in future from them - we will probably stick to eating out at The Spice Lounge in Culcheth where the service matches the quality of the food.

This is our first visit since a refurbishment to the menu and decor has taken place.
I have to say that I was surprised that the 2 For 1 deal was replaced with a different menu however I was pleasantly surprised.
We ordered Gammon, it was cooked perfect!
There is something special about friendly table service and that is what created a really nice experience.
We will be back and wish you well
