The northern most part of Finland, Lapland, is the magical arctic region full of contrasts. In fact, contrasts are a key factor in the allure of Lapland where 24-hour sunlight in the summer replaces the dark winter days filled with Northern Lights.
Every season in Finnish Lapland is uniquely different from each other. The inhabitants of the region say that Lapland actually has 8 seasons instead of 4. In the wintertime, Lapland is as close as reality gets to those who dream of a winter wonderland. Spring brings along light that follows the long season of ‘kaamos’ (arctic night in Finnish). During the spring time, the snow covered hills and fells offer exciting experiences for all winter outdoors enthusiasts from skiiers to snowshoe walkers.
Summer in Lapland is a season like no other – there are endless white nights and peaceful arctic nature as far as the eye can see. Summer’s glow is followed by the majestic season of fall when Lapland gets its truly iconic ‘ruska’ colors. This is the best season to go for a hike in one of Lapland’s many national parks. It is meditation and mindfullness all wrapped in one in one of the world’s most unique and breath-taking sceneries. And don’t forget the best and purest air and water this planet has to offer.
After you have recharged in nature, Lapland also offers other interesting places to visit. Meet Santa Claus in Rovaniemi, try one (or two!) of Lapland’s great restaurants, visit a reindeer or a husky farm, venture out to a quirky festival or go look for gold.
Finnish Lapland is all this and more.

This intimate boutiques style resort has full service for you with a very fine A'la Carte Restaurant Utsu. High standard glass-ceilinged igloos are located in a incredibly beautiful place on the fell slope. The place is perfect to relaxtion, to watch the spectacular view and the northern lights.
We stayed here during the season so the place was wonderfully white. There are about 30 igloos, all separate with their own door, of which three, I believe, are suite igloos. These are more spacious and right at the edge of the igloos providing an uninterrupted view across the expanse of trees. I would recommend if your budget stretches. It is about 15 minutes from Levi and reception booked us a taxi. The on-site restaurant, Utsu, is excellent.

Ounasvaaran Lakituvat chalets are located in Rovaniemi, on top of the fell Ounasvaara, near to the Arctic Circle. The chalets are in the middle of a network of hiking trails and cross country ski tracks. Ski slopes are only 200 meters away. Santasport Center with it's modern well being services and spa facility is within a walking distance. Although the chalets are surrounded by the nature where also a pack of reindeer is commonly seen on the yard, the chalets are only about three kilometers away from lively Rovaniemi city center.
I stayed 10 days solo. The location was perfect as I could take the running trail straight from the door. The accommodation is located in Ounasvaara Park, which is an endless forest with well maintained trails. At the same time I was about 3 km away from the city center, and maybe 1km away from a big grocery store. I wish I could afford to stay longer.

Very nice summer visit to Kemi. Beautiful sea view from the cabin. You could open curtains to two sides of the cabin and there was a rooftop windows also. Lovely colorful sunsets and you could see the stars. I liked the peaceful and quiet area. Cabin was clean and modern. Just perfect for one or two people. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning/heating. Refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker. Walking distance to the harbor and city center. I didn’t use any facilities of the main building. Breakfast was in the refrigerator (COVID-19) friendly.

Naverniemi Holiday Center (Näverniemen lomakylä in Finnish) is a familyowned Holiday Village located only 9 km from Ivalo-airport and 1,5km from Ivalo downtown and its services. Distance to Saariselkä Skiing Centre is about 29km. Also winterfishing and crosscountryskiing are very popular activities at NHC. At summertime fishing trouts, swimming in the ivalo river (we have our own beach) and our free bike-rental service are popular among our customers. We stayed here with tents for 2 nights. The lady at reception was really sweet and helpful. The area for tents was a lovely grass area which is level with soft soil which made it easy to put the tent pegs into. The showers had good pressure and hot water. There are only two toilets for ladies and 2 for men, so sometimes one had to wait for their turn. There are no hand towels, so you need your own. The kitchen block was small but neat. You can borrow bikes for free to ride up town which was great! The only thing we would change is to pitch our tent away from the cabins. We were unfortunate to have rude people stay up on the first night talking in loud voices while they sat on the verandah of their cabin which was only a few metres away from our tent. We like our peace at night and couldn't sleep. We asked them several times to keep the volume down but they didn't care, and they finally stopped talking about 3am. Why book a place to sleep when you intend to stay up all night and ruin everyone else's sleep? If you're lucky with peaceful campers, it is a lovely place to stay.

Ylläshilla log cabin is a beautifully finished luxury log cabin in the heart of the Ylläs fell in the Finnish Lapland. The place is called Nilivaara and lies in the village of Akaslompolo. The cabin is ideal for families, but there is also plenty of room for various groups. Furthermore, you are welcome to bring your pet here. This cabin can accommodate a larger party and provides a perfect refuge to enjoy the activities in the area.
The cottage is very nice and comfortable, very well equipped. We were 8 people and there was plenty of everything in the kitchen. It is in a very quiet location but everything is close by for sports activities and shopping. It was a relaxing week with snow scooters, dog sleds and the Northern Lights. I'll definitely come back ? thanks to Nicola and Tanja

Beautiful caravan area with over a hundred electric places and twelve cabins with sauna for 2+2 persons. Sallainen Caravan and Cabins are located by lake Keselmajarvi and in the heart of Sallfell and ski resort. Spa, restaurants and other services are all less than half a kilometer away. Ski and hiking tracks burst the area and you can ski right to your cabin door from the slope. There's an idyllic fireplace by the lake and only few steps from the area a peaceful, sunny beach.
My three night stay in Sallatunturi was a bit of a washout in an otherwise record-setting hot summer, but Sallainen Cottages somehow made up for it. The weather on my arrival day was horrendous, but the management granted me complimentary early checkin so I could journey early and avoid the worst of the poor driving conditions: hugely appreciated. Once there, the cottage was lovely, just the right size for a solo traveller or a couple, recently built with a separate bedroom, well-equipped kitchen, comfortably furnished, good wifi and a welcoming sauna to compensate for the miserable weather. Linens and towels were spotlessly fresh. The location, just beside the fell, is also perfect for hiking, and the town of Salla, just 10 km away, has decent supermarkets in case you forgot to stock up en route (Salla also has petrol stations). The owners kindly provided a detailed local map, showing all services, attractions and trails If you are touring around Lapland this is an ideal place to relax in comfort in a location that proudly announces itself as ‘the middle of nowhere’.

Mökki oli likainen, lamput palaneet, laatat irtoilee ulkoseinistä, kaappien ovet irti saranoista, saunan paneelit irti. Pihalla rakennusjätettä, astioita, joku moottorikelkan raato ja homeisia halkoja. Yläterassin kaiteet irti, hengenvaarallinen pudotus. Astiat kuluneet ja liian vähän, lapset joi maitoa viinilaseista... Valitimme Levi royalille, viesteihin vastaaminen hidasta ja ylimielistä, kuulemma normaalia kulumista vanhassa mökissä. Kuitenkin markkinoidaan huipputasoisena huvilana. Mitään ei tarjottu hyvityksenä. Mökki 3/5 Palvelu 1/5
