Find out what Indian restaurants to try in Champasak Province. Champasak (or Champassak, Champasack – Lao: ຈຳປາສັກ [càmpàːsák]) is a province in southwestern Laos, near the borders with Thailand and Cambodia. It is one of the three principalities that succeeded the Lao kingdom of Lan Xang. As of the 2015 census, it had a population of 694,023. The capital is Pakse, but it takes its name from Champasak, the former capital of the Kingdom of Champasak.

There is awesome food in Pakse and there are places with nice atmosphere; this one, unfortunately, has got neither. The food was uninspired and outright bad (there were plenty of unidentifiable, inedible bits floating around in the Dal). On top of that, our Thalis were missing parts that were promised on the menu. (We asked for them and they were out, but did get a discount in the end.)Won't go there again.

Surprisingly there are quite a few Indian restaurants in Laos -- and the food here is the best of the lot! Especially when you realise that it is basically one guy doing everything. One evening we were unable to eat there because he'd literally run out of food; but the next night we ordered in advance - I think this also helped him to organise his time (there can be a bit of a wait if others are there before you).We ate there twice, and variously had chicken tikka, dal fry, channa masala, baigan bharta (aubergine)., bread and pulau rice. All was fresh, very tasty, and just the right level of spiciness. The guy is very friendly - and works so hard! Sometimes he has a helper, but not always.

There are a surprising number of Indian restaurants in Don Det and Pakse. I doubt most people come to Southern Laos expecting to eat aloo gobi or chicken tikka, but you will have no difficulty finding these dishes and more.Amin Restaurant is set on the main street of Pakse, which gets a bit noisy at times. But otherwise this is a centrally located restaurant which is convenient for many hotels and guesthouses. The food here is not the best Indian you've ever had. It is like the food court Indian from a shopping mall in the West. The spice level could be increased, for one thing. However, it is perfectly adequate if you want a change from Lao favorites with sticky rice.

We were craving Indian food and this restaurant was within walking distance from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. The food was good not great, but it was very reasonably priced. The service however was excellent. Although we will probably not dine here again I still recommend giving it a try.

Considering how isolated and remote Don Det is, it is surprising to find that it has a couple of decent Indian restaurants. If you fancy something different from Thai/Lao favorites like fried pork and basil, this is a good place for surprisingly authentic Indian flavours. We had three mains with naan bread and rice. They were all quite spicy. We had aloo palak, channa masala and chicken tikka, all of which were quite decent. There is also a good range of alcoholic drinks, juices and soft-drinks. Prices are quite reasonable overall. The furniture is in the low-key local style with axe pillows, woven mats and low tables.

Easy to find not far from the ferry to the mainland. Excellent vegetarian food, potato and eggplant curry was delicious, I can’t comment on the meat/fish, good selection of accompaniments. Food can take time to arrive during busy periods but it’s worth the wait as it’s freshly prepared.Thank you very much for your help full review
