The Blue Heron serves an excellent breakfast and lunch in large proportions; they are not open for dinner. Food is always fresh and unique. Daily lunches include a choice of 2 homemade soups w/complimentary homemade sourdough bread and a variety of sandwiches on homemade sourdough bread or wraps. Salads are always freshly made and filled with fruit, vegetables, and/or meat with tasty dressings. Two baker's display cases are filled each morning with fresh cookies, fried cakes, muffins, bagels, pies, cakes, and a large variety of sweet rolls, baked on site. Customers congregate there for coffee and a choice of doughnut or cookie. Their breakfasts are hearty and delicious. The owner is the cook, and it is a treat to find such a high quality restaurant in this small tourist town.
Fantastic breakfast. And what a surprise when we said it was our first time. Our server said, "That means you get a free loaf of bread" The restaurant is also and awesome bakery with amazing pastries and donuts along with breads and all kinds of other baked goods. Their menu isn't huge but they have a really great selection of amazing omelets. All their food is locally sourced and they have vegetarian options and Gluten Free items. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Closed at 3 or 4PM

In for a quick meal but not happening. Can't comment on food quality yet but our servers seem much more interested in visiting with friends than serving customers. If food is good I will repost food review but not expecting too much.

The Coffee Cup is a very popular breakfast and lunch destination. There may be a wait. The decor is heavy on pigs and kitsch. The menu is varied and the specials are usually wonderful. The homemade cherry and blueberry breads are excellent. My daughters are partial to the strawberry short waffles. Ice cream is sandwiched between Belgian waffles and covered in strawberries and whipped cream.
I really like that no matter how busy the restaurant is there are never mistakes with my order.
The staff are friendly, efficient, and they remember customer preferences.

Mom & pop ice cream shop on the main street in Lake City which serves ice cream cones and sundaes and treats sized for giants.
If you want a "normal" sized serving - order the baby size. I think the large cone must be at least a quart of ice cream. You cannot drive and eat this cone at the the same time...
The medium sundae comes in a large drink cup with fudge from top to bottom.
If you like ice cream - this is the place to stop!

I have had many meals there, lunch, dinner, and take out. I have never had a meal that I didn't like. I especially like the ribs and pulled pork. The place is not cheap and because it is so lacking in physical comforts, some friends feel it is over priced. Another problem is that a set amount of food is prepared so that if, for example, you specifically want ribs, you may have to pick them up early and warm them yourself or they may be gone.

This is a local diner with seating inside and outside (covered). Friendly service and food was always cooked to order. I liked their deep fried green beans. They serve pizza, Mexican (sort of), everything fried, burger, the usual fare. Came with a pretty big group, the food came out pretty slowly since they cook everything fresh, but everyone was satisfied my the meal.

It's tiny. So it only seats about 8. But get take out. Don has been a local favorite baker in Lake City forever. Pizzas are good. He's the only one making pepperoni or other flavored "rolls", which make a great lunch. Make sure to get a smiley face sugar cookie!

Great food at even better prices! Good, friendly service and the place was very clean. We had breakfast but they also offered many lunch items including a salad bar! Try it , you will not be disappointed

This is a small place that we stopped by as we were driving on the way to Brethren. What caught our eye was that it said 'family restaurant' since we are a family of 4. The food is simple but good, don't expect anything fancy. They even offered some Tex-Mex meals like nachos and burritos. I got the hot Turkey sandwich; admittedly it was a bit too much bread and the gravy overdone with cornstarch but the Turkey was good and I ate it with the sauce and fries. The kids had kids menu mini-burgers with fries. Husband had Turkey club but didn't like the bit too crispy bacon (we ate it for him!) It was a good, simple place to stop for lunch, much better than the McDonald's down the street!

Better than chain restaurants, and way better than the nearby BC Pizza. Really love Don's originals-rolled in homemade pizza dough, several to choose from. My two favorites are the Italian chicken roll and the Hot & spicy BBQ chicken roll.
