Sitting in a valley in the Andes Mountains, La Paz is the city that touches the clouds. The de facto capital of Bolivia, and sitting between 3300 and 4100 meters above sea level, La Paz is the highest capital city in the world. Rich with 19th century churches, museums of artifacts from the pre-Conquest era, precarious overlooks, and colorful markets, La Paz is truly unique. The Witches’ Market, in the center of the city, sells charms and potions for Aymara rituals, as well as souvenirs.

Typical food and folcloric show. Cover charge US$12.
If you are in the city of La Paz, this is a must go place! The music was awesome, the folkloric dances amazing! and you can participate if you want! The food is typical Bolivian food with a salad buffet that has a beautiful selection of cheese. They also have a special Bolivian drink (Singani) with a snake! It was delicious! Highly recommend it.Do note that they charge for entry (about 20 USD)

After 2 months travel we wanted a steak! And wow did we find the right place. We shared a tender loin steak of 1.2 kg (190 bolivianos) including fries (surprisingly decent nothing special though) and a generous sallad bar. We chose to have the steak rare and it was perfect. Delicious! So much food though. You can easily share 3 or even 4 people. The guacamole was good and the service fast and efficient. We were the only two people at the restaurant when we arrived. The setting could be made more cosy. It's like a cafeteria at the moment. But the tasty steak and the fantastic value for money gives it a 5 star review.

Specialty coffeeshop and brewery. All products are local and natural, natural sodas, meat and veggie burgers, paninis, salads. We produce every ingredient and sauce, no canned stuff.
Only light and healthy choices in the menu. Everything we ordered was top notch, delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. What a find in La Paz! Premium coffee and craft beers, all Bolivian. I'm a fan!

Old restaured colonial building with new age and local food.
We have just had dinner in that restaurant. The service was really terrible. The waiter didnât know which wines where available and then only three or four where available in a list of about twenty wines. When we finished our main course the waiter was in a great hurry and didnât come to our table for a long while. When we called him to order our dessert he told us that the kitchen was closed. It was 21.30 and in the website resulted opened till 22.00. The bill was quite expensive.

GUSTU works exclusively with Bolivian native products, transforming them in a trip through Bolivian richness and diversity.
Gustu is about an hour away by cable car from Central La Paz but definitely worth a special trip, as a three-star Michelin guide rating would say. The space is beautiful, the service attentive and the food unique and spectacular both in terms of taste, creativity and presentation. The best part is the price, which is a mere fraction of what one might pay at a fine dining restaurant in any first world country.

In the heart of the city of La Paz - Bolivia, is the Restaurant 1700, a single proposal and somewhat eccentric for domestic and foreign. We offer a varied food menu that fuses Bolivian and international flavors, such as fillet of smoked flame with passion
This is a lovely Resteraunt. We had a 40 dollar meal that would have cost 100 in the US. I had the llama kabobs. They were fantastic. This is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of la paz. We bought a bottle of gin from them.

Irish owned âThe Carrot Treeâ is the perfect place to relax and enjoy fresh organic all day Brunch, evening meals, locally sourced Jungle Coffee or our famous Bolivian cocktails and juices. We pride ourselves on bringing you the highest standard of fresh
The heaping plate of pesto pasta was over-cooked (as opposed to al-dente), needed a lot of salt (felt like the pasta was not cooked in salted water and lacked flavor) and very oily. But the veggies and chicken in it tasted great. On the plus side, the servers are great and the space cozy and inviting. So overall it was a very average dining experience. Tips: 1) Go hungry as the portions are huge 2) Go to the top floor (not the second floor) for better views of the city.
