The bistro looks ordinary from the outside but inside its crammed with jazz photos and memorabilia and has great character. The ladies behind the bar are very helpful and cheerful. The cantal cheese fondu was superb and the "tartibleu" was excellent. Crepes were light and tasty. The pression beer and house wine also good. They have jazz evenings in the bistro and there are adverts for music nights in other towns. Well worth a visit for lunch or informal, fun dinner with friends

restaurant traditionnel et typique de la région ; Plat végétarien; poissons fumés; charcuteries ainsi que boeuf et agneau séché
Marvellous mid week meal in a relatively quiet town at this time of the year. Really good atmosphere in the restaurant and very friendly and capable service. Dinner was lovely, we were going to re-visit the next night, but they had Thursday off!

If we hadn't read others' reviews the bizarre exterior would have put us off. We would have gone elsewhere and missed a treat. The interior is quirky to say the least, but the welcome is warm. We had 2 dishes we have never had before: smoked herrings with steamed potatoes in a mixed salad. Sounds weird but it works really well. The second surprise was mussels with leeks in a creamy sauce and rice. Amusing presentation and delicious, too! Very sensibly priced, definitely a find.

Les Mancelles is found just out of Mont Dore on a little country road, near the ski slopes.
Reasonably priced and varied menu, including menu of the day and set menus.
Anna was friendly and welcoming and spoke English.
Seems a popular restaurant and children are welcome. Pre booking might be necessary.
Accommodation is also available and I think is reasonably priced.

On a rainy day we enjoyed our coffee and croque-monsieurs, which the kitchen kindly made for us despite being officially closed for the afternoon. Old fashioned interior which is very cosy. Merci bien

I have been in Le Mont Dore an February 13th 2013. First of all I did not find you in the city - also not after asking 12 different people. The search function of trip-advisor has guided me to Rue du Cap Chazotte, in front of the church. I was very disappointed that I did not find you so I went to "A Casa Nostra" where I have got without doubt one of the best Pizza's in my life!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Regina. The 20 Euro fixed menu, with 4 courses including cheese and dessert was nicely done and satisfying each night. The Michelin 2 coins indication for good food at a fair price is right on.
(When reviewing, we take into account the pretensions, or lack thereof, of the establishment. This hotel restaurant is most pleasant and not snobby.

At first we were a little put off by the poor / unfriendly waiter, but as the children were hungry we decided to stay for lunch. Waiter refused to serve a crepe to our smallest son, "because it is not yet 16:00 PM", and the hamburger for our other son was almost completely raw. He ate half of the hamburger before we realised it and ended up with a tapeworm! Rediculous to serve a childrens menu with raw hamburgers!
Besides the above, it was too expensive for the type of restaurant they are.

This restaurant came highly recommended but overall we were disappointed. From the outside it looked very inviting but inside it was dark & lacking atmosphere. Maybe this was because it was a Monday night & quite quiet. However even the waitress seemed half-hearted about the few clients that were there. As for the food, again ok but not memorable!

stopped in with my daughter on a packed Wednesday night (note, closed Tuesdays). Very busy inside and out but fast service. She had the tortelli with asparagus, I ha the carbonara. Both were wonderful. very cold draught beer served too. my daughter followed up with a strawberry sorbet which she said was excellent. Seating a little cramped. smoking allowed in street side eating area, so be aware although if you have ever been to France you know that is the norm, big smokers, the French. total meal cost 38 Euros, not bad at all.
