I would like to thank all the Staff for a wonderful stay at their Hotel. Most impressive was how clean and tidy the Hotel was. Both rooms we had had great views, one over looking the pool and on looking out over the sea. Breakfast and evening meal was to a high standard. Each morning for breakfast the was a very good Buffet with Eggs Bacon baked beans as well as fruit and cereals. We are looking to returning in April 2022 when it reopens.

The Legacy Hostal Empuries stands on an ancient settlement, beside the Greek and Roman ruins of Empuries, whose beauty and tranquility attracted the Iberians as much as the Greek seafarers and the first Romans who settled the Iberian Peninsula. Moreover this is the place from which the mythic country of Emporda took its name. This privileged location is the actual cradle of our culture and the only Greek and Roman archaeological site in the whole peninsula. Consequently, to protect and enrich this legacy is one of the main objectives of the Hostal. The History The original construction of Hostal Empuries appeared in 1907, under the name of Villa Teresita, with the idea of giving lodgings to the first archaeologists, who directed by Puig i Cadafalch, set out on the job of excavating and restoring the Greek and Roman remains. From these historic beginnings the Hostal changed at the start of the 20C and became the precursor to touristic lodgings in the area, even before the use of the term Costa Brava. Years ago there was a change of management in the Hostal which undertook to finish extensive reforms with the idea that activities should flourish throughout the entire year and that the badly run-down site would be restored. With the same pioneering spirit of the ancients and the ability to responsibly and sensitively modify this magical spot, alongside the exacting requirements of the modern tourist, the Hostal is really striving to transform itself into a new reference point, a new model of tourism under the name of Sustainable Tourism, founded on social and ecological responsibility. The spirit The new Hostal Empuries is a project based on the idea of improving the world in which we live and share so that future generations might also enjoy themselves. We would like to become the best Hostal for our world... for a world where we all belong and for the Earth that surrounds us. Accordingly, we take our responsibility for managing this site very seriously and we endevour to serve all those who come to enjoy this encounter with nature and history of which we proudly form a part.
Beautiful location overlook the sea, close to Greco-Roman ruins. Lovely breakfast buffets. Modern and well appointed though we were surprised by the enforced absence of air conditioning as this was still “winter”. Keeping the balcony doors open at night or an electric fan didn’t quite do it for us. And, while you might want to burnish your environmental credentials, the brown recycled toilet paper wasn’t what we’d like expect from a fine hotel.

This a a cosy family owned small hotel. It is located at the entrance of the village, five minutes walk distance of the main harbour. Our 4 bed room was very confortable and clean. There was new forniture with big beds. The sheets were clean and the matrass was hard, good for a great rest. There was a small terrasse with view to the sea. It was very quite since we face the interior façade. They provided us free parking in the same building. Breakfast was good and abundant. The most important, however, was the kindness of the staff, they provided us all sort of attentions. Overall, a great place to stay eith the family. We recommend very hardly to visit the Archaeological site of Empúries.

We booked a two-bedroom apartment for an overnight stay in December. Apartment was spacious and clean, fairly well equipped although with only a 2 ring hob you might quickly run out of cooking options. Although it was quite a cold night, the apartment felt warm as the staff had turned on the heating prior to our arrival. The apartment blocks are set in beautiful grounds with citrus trees and small dipping pools which I am sure are lovely in summer. It is in a residential rather than a tourist area, you will need a car to get to the beach, and there are no real views from the apartments. But there are supermarkets nearby and a few local restaurants. All in all we were pleased with our stay.

Friendly staff and service and exceptionally clean. I’m a reader of Quentin Jardine books and have wanted to visit “Bob Skinner’s” Spanish hide away for some time. The old part of the town didn’t disappoint quirky and moody. The staff in the hotel could not have been more friendly and helpful. If we use this route back to the uk again I think that we will stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were so pleased we had chosen this little hotel. Rooms are simple but spotlessly clean. Excellent wifi speed. Breakfast available in the small bar on the ground floor. Walking distance to all the various restaurants L'Escala has to offer. Had a room on the 2nd floor at the front of the building but didn't find it too noisy as it is principally a residential street. Free parking just up the road in a municipal car park. Owners are lovely, very friendly and helpful. Good price, we will stay here again.
