L'Escala (Spanish: La Escala) is a municipality in the comarca of the Alt Empordà in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the Costa Brava, located between the southern end of the Gulf of Roses and Cala (bay) Montgó. It is an important fishing port and tourist centre, and has a festival dedicated to its famous anchovies. The GE-513 road runs inland from the town.

Escala is quite touristic, this restaurant is somewhat hidden in the streets of the ancient port. The atmosphere is wonderful, you're sitting in some kind of a cave. Service is very good, excellent white whine (malvasia). We had some excellent first courses and second courses, the desert was also very good. We found this a superb way to finish our holiday in Spain.

Del 12 de Septiembre a Mayo estamos cerrados, solo abrimos con reserva previa desde 2 personas, menu cerrado y mesa del chef. Hace falta avisar un dia antes. Gracias!
This year we revisited Can Roura twice (based on previous year's excellent experiences) and yet again both meals were absolutely super. We booked a table in the small, intimate inner courtyard which is relatively cool and quiet. The food was fantastic and I can recommend the fish and chips (not chips...but crisps in the batter) which you can have as a starter or main course. My wife loves the shoulder of lamb. The desserts are to die for. Customer service was first-class. Not cheap but in my opinion is the best restaurant in L'Escala and St. Marti. We will definitely return.

We went there for dinner and it was surprisingly good! The quality is perfect and they elaborate amazing dishes. They have gluten free options and know about the contamination and which products contain gluten. It was a nice evening with good food. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent.

We really enjoyed our dinner here, the food was delicious, nicely presented and offered good value for money.
Sadly, it is let down by the ambiance... The lighting is far too bright, just would create warmth and let you appreciate the building tht the restaurant sits in. The tables are way too close together, we sat almost with another couple, literally 3 inches apart, who did not want to engage in conversation, so it was slightly awkward.
Finally the service was poor as they seemed understaffed with just two surly staff running around between the two rooms of the restaurant. We sat for just over 15 minutes before even water was offered, we were on the verge of leaving when the order was finally taken.
We enjoyed the food, but would not return.

The reviews for this restaurant made my husband and I want to visit it. We could not get a table ad hoc on Wed 8th but booked for Thurs 9th July. What a revelation the food was, small portions as warned but the flavours were fantastic, the Patatas Bravas, reindeer and veal cheek deserve special mention. We ordered 6 dishes between us and had room for pudding, which was also full of flavour surprises. Even the bread (sourdough) was great. There are only 7 tables so please try to book, you won't be disappointed!

Menu has changed since last year and seems a little more upmarket. Enjoyed views from the first floor over the bay which is nice. Food was different, Argentinian pork bites, duck brochettes all nice tasting. It would appear that quite a few places are making an effort to appear more upmarket. Service was good and we had a good meal.

Tapas for two is the perfect meal if you are into sea food and tapas.
Reasonable priced, helpful staff and nice views to the sea,
If youare looking for high class, this is not the place, but given the location and building we found it a nice place to dine.

We just fancied a Pizza and this place was recommended to us by a fellow motorhomer. Ordered the pizza to take away we had lots if choice and popped into the super market next door for a bottle of red Roja by the time I returned the pizza was coming out of the stone oven.great service great Pizza.

Tuesday morning, closed
I love the atmosphere, the food, the hospitable and the always helpful waiting staff, all at a reasonable price. The steaks are consistently good quality and cooked to perfection. If I were to complain about anything, then the accompanying chips are slightly undercooked and stodgy

Ordered a light lunch for the kids, large frankfurter Sandwich which is pretty big! Drinks for the adults and a sharing plate of patatas bravas. Food is really good and was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. Service not 100% on this occasion but okay. Nice place to eat and look out at the sea.
