Things to do in Margate
Wish I'd discovered this place on the first day of my trip rather than the last. Finally somewhere I could order delicious, healthy and vegetarian food. Worth taking the trip a little out of Shelly centre to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and great coffee.
Entering through the Mac Banana parking entrance turn left to the far end and find The Krafty Chameleon. This is a Gift Shop combined with a daytime restaurant. We visited for a BreakfastWe were greeted immediately by a very friendly waitress who explained that she was a Trainee, She was friendly and efficient, I wish all "trained" waitresses around the world were as good as this "Trainee".A range of traditional home-style breakfasts were on offer and I had the "Krafty Breakfast" which was tasty, well cooked, and delivered in a very short time and the ingredients used were of good quality. The breakfast menu list is quite small but sufficient as most individual items are also priced separately so you can add to, or build your own breakfast if you want to, vegetarian options are also available.A children's play area is adjoining one side of the seating area. The main seating area overlooks a dam with views behind of the wooded hill and banana farm.On your way out, stop and browse in the Gift Shop where a good selection of Crafts and Gift items are available at reasonable prices.I am sure that we will be back for another Breakfast or to sample the lunch items.

Enjoyed both breakfast and lunch at this restaurant. Great french toast and really great bacon. Burgers are awesome and so is the duck salad. Great location with sea view. Patio open for smokers and definitely affects the inside. Should consider a separate smoking area. Why as a non smoker must you sit inside with a view like this. Service slow.

We were very enthusiastic about this restaurant, went there and were disappointed. The name itself is giving you a vibe that its a surfer style restaurant and cool people work there with a typical South Coast way of speaking. Totally not the case. The service was extremely slow and the restaurant was not even busy. The waitress looked like she was having a really bad day, rolled her eyes a lot and did not listen when we ordered. The drink orders arrived and it was not quite what we asked for. We received another tables food, but we did not even get a chance to order food yet. The menu had a difference in fries with the burgers, but both plates came to the table looking exactly the same. We asked about the fries and were told that's how the kitchen made it. The waiters are not familiar with their menus. There was a person in uniform sitting smoking and being on his cell. I am not very likely to return. Its sad because I had high hopes for this restaurant. It has loads of potential, but needs work. The balcony with a view of the ocean is a nice touch.Good DayI am so sorry to hear about your disappointing experiencePlease would you be so kind as to email me your contact number so we can discuss the matter [email protected]

We visited for Brunch just after the main season and they were very quiet. My burger with egg was well cooked and served with a basic salad. My wife who is vegetarian had the Halloumi Vegetarian Open Sandwich (Toasted) and said it was very nice, but the vegetarian options are a bit limited.Service was average but they had run out of lemon for my tea.Prices were average for the area.We gave the deserts a miss.Thank you for the feed back, my apologies about the lemon.

Just out looking for somewhere for lunch and we followed the signs for this cafe. We had the set Sunday lunch which was: pear salad, chilled pea soup, choice of rump steak or pork fillet ( served with dauphinois potato, phyllo pastry cups with something tasty inside, roasted butternut) followed by choice of a delicious chocolate ice cream mousse or passion fruit cheesecake. EVERYTHING was delicious, served beautifully by friendly staff in pretty surroundings. The owners made us feel so welcome and to top it all there was a lady offering free tastings of lovely wines! For two of us the four course meal was R460 which we thought was a bargain especially considering the top quality of the meal. South Coast people, go there very soon! We will be back.
