On arrival we were greeted by Stephanie and given a welcoming drink before being shown to our table. The dining areas had been beautifully decorated. There were gifts and chocolates for all. Everyone made us feel so very special. Exceptional organisation meant that there was no or very little waiting time at any of the food stations. The menu was varied and catered for all tastes. From the Starters to the Desserts everything had been perfectly prepared and presented.Special mention of the large roast turkeys, gammon, Yorkshire Puddings & delicious gravy! Congratulations to all for being able to continually serve hot food to all your guests.The best part of the meal is always the Dessert Room - what a fantastic selection of 21 desserts including traditional Christmas Pudding.And if, after all this amazing food, you still have space there are mince pies, tea and coffee.Alec & Stephanie are great hosts and every staff member is a credit to the Hotel.We highly recommend Christmas Dinner 2019 at Fern Hill Hotel. If you are tired of the standard stop-overs with franchised restaurants, the Windmill Country Stop close to Howick on the N3 will be a great alternative. It has been around for a many years but has has grown into a major facility which are well oraganised to cater for even then the busiest periods of holiday traffic.Although there is a service station were you can fill up, the focus seems to me more on providing a pleasant stop-over with great facilities (clean rest-rooms) and a fantastic variety of well prepared food. Anything from great home-made pies, gourmet burgers, wood fired pizza, Indian cuisine and many more options. Add great coffee, some health options and a well stocked Farm Stall, there is something for everyone. At one stage their mission was to provide the cleanest restrooms in the country and it seems to remain the case. There is also lots of space for kids to stretch their legs and a well equipped playground.If you have ever stopped over there, chances are that you will return. If you never have been before, it will certainly be worth a try.The Windmill is well marked and easy to find. There is ample parking and easy access to the amenities. Look out for the signs after passing through the Mooi RiverToll Plaza on the way to Durban.

we stopped here on our way to Karkloof Canopy.........they offer nice health breakfast but unfortunately we already had ours at the hotel........still we tried the fresh juice made of wheat germ,beet root etc........that were refreshing........there is lots of organic stuff to buy & soemfresh vegatables,free range eggs,honey,yorhurt...........lots of people were dropping in for Breakfast .they have kiddies area where out 2 sons had a ball.........
