Ko Chang means “Elephant Island,” and indeed, if you’d like an up-close-and-personal encounter with the world’s largest land mammal, you can do that here—you can even swim with them at Ban Kwan Chang, an elephant preserve recommended by TripAdvisor travelers. In the past few years, the island has experienced a huge boom in tourism, so new hotels and restaurants abound.

Our cozy beach house boutique hotel and hostel is located just 1 minute walk to lovely Klong Prao Beach in Koh Chang. We provide exceptional and unique accommodation, ranging from ultra modern and well appointed both mixed and ladies dormitories to luxurious private rooms with free wifi, chill out areas including swimming pool! We offer friendly and personalized service while cleanliness, fun, social life and security is our primary concern while you staying with us. We love to make our guests happy! Make your next stay in Koh Chang once to remember and we will see you soon!
After an uncomfortable and unenjoyable stay at Indie Beach, I relocated to Pajamas. Pajamas is great - un-pretentious, impeccably well kept and inexpensive. It was nice to have a quality night's sleep! I stayed in a double room. The beds are wonderful. I even contacted them after our stay to find out what exact pillows they use, so I could buy them for my own home. Everything felt clean, and the shower was good. The communal area is a nice touch - it has comfortable furniture and hammocks to relax in, with an open plan indoor/outdoor design. The staff made us feel welcome but left us alone after that. Perfect! As I was on a working trip, wifi was important. The wifi here is reliable and fast, perfect for long days of zoom meetings. There is also lots of space to work undisturbed. I would have given 5 stars if it was ON the beach, but it's just 1 minute walk from a beautiful beach. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Pajamas again, and will recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Koh Chang on a budget.

Elephant Bay Resort (EBR) is located south-west on the island of Koh Chang, in Bailan Bay. The resort has a big garden with lots of room to play sports such as volleyball and badminton, hang-out in one of the several hammocks or just enjoy the sun by the pool. It is both a place to be by yourself and to meet people. Moreover, the resort is surrounded by walls and with only one entrance and exit, will make your stay as relaxed and private as possible. All rooms are decorated in the same style, yet none are the same and they each have their own personality. The restaurant and bar area has a funky, colorful look and invites you to mingle with other guests.
Rooms are small and extreme basic, tiny space around the bed to walk, two shelves to put stuff on. Bed sheets have oily stains. Don't expect anyting from the rooms. They charge 15 baht for a cup of hot water, very strange. View and sunset is so nice. But no beach at all and sea is all rock bottom, you need special shoes to walk in this sea.

This is my favourite place to stay on Lonely Beach. I have spent alot of time in Koh Chang and will return to Cafe Del Sunshine everytime. I have stayed in both dorm and bungalow. The prices for both are really reasonable when considering the quality of the accommodation. It is a very clean hostel and there are always lots of lovely travellers to meet. The showers are always warm and the wi-fi never had any problems. Due to location it can get a little loud at night, which is the same for most hostels in Lonely Beach. I stayed in the dorm for over 2 weeks and slept well most nights. The staff are the best part. They are understanding, respectful and will make sure everything is as it should be during your stay. You can rent scooters for a reasonable price and book trips from the main desk. The cafe has a great menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert) both western and Thai food and very reasonably priced. They have some of the best shakes and coffees I have had in the area. This place is ideal for budget backpackers and travellers. It is a very social place, but also somewhere you can relax and take time out. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away and there are lots of shops and restaurants around. I highly recommend staying here.

Coconut garden is a small bungalow resort in Bang Bao. There are 7 stone air-conditioned bungalows, 3 wooden fan bungalows and two twinrooms with airconditioning and a shared bathroom. There is also a nice swimmingpool.
We have just checked in and are really disappointed. The Dutch owners have long fled the country and that was the key attraction for booking here. The air con didn't work in my first room. Second room had no TV and spider webs everywhere. Lizards and mosquitos populating the room. WiFi doesn't reach my room. Tomorrow I am going to search for a hotel. The high ratings of this are a long distant memory I'm afraid.

We stayed here for 2nights, but could of stayed a week! The room is modern, clean, very comfy bed (like very comfy worlds away from some I have slept on thought out my Thailand travels) air- con, small sofa, fridge, water provided, soap, hair dryer, microwave, hot plate, coffee and tea. All perfect for a quiet get away. Set off the main road in the forest where you can hear the gentle buzz of insects and actually see the stars! Our host was lovely, speaks very good English and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely stay here again!

Situated in tranquil settings and only 200 metres from the Quaint and idyllic, Khong Koi Beach and the nearby stilted fishing Village and pier in Bang Bao Bay, is our brand new Asia BackPackers Resort and Hostel. This is the place to rest and when the mood takes you, to play. Stay in our chic, individual styled Bungalows or our boutique modern dormitories.
I have a number of things to say about this place, but will start by simply saying: go elsewhere. After a long day of travelling, my partner and I arrived at Asia Backpackers, having booked several weeks in advance. We had thought the photos of the place looked decent- but we were very wrong. When we got there, no one was attending the desk. We were greeted by a spaced out guy from the UK who told us that all his staff had quit. We had booked for a few nights (with a no cancellation fee) but based on the grubby reception area alone, I wanted to go elsewhere. We were shown to our fan bungalow. It was surrounded by rubbish, overlooking rubbish. Nothing like the outlook promised. The bungalow itself was falling apart. The bathroom was clean, but that was the only thing that was: the sheet had not been changed and was dirty. Everything else in the room was filthy, with some kind of droppings all over the window sills, and in between the bed and the wall. There was mould all over the ceiling on one side. I wanted to leave instantly. We are not fussy people - but the room should at least be clean. My partner and I ventured into Bang Bao to see if there was any other options. We realised that the description of the backpackers as 200 metres away from Klong Koi beach was very wrong (try 1 km +), and it was still a 700 ish metre walk to bang bao pier. Not convenient at all. We arrived at the pier eventually and made enquiries at another guesthouse. We found one on bang bao pier over the water (a very central location) with a restaurant, a great outlook over the bay and a friendly local owner (Asia Backpackers is not locally owned). We were shown a simple room which was clean and well maintained. The place was full for that night but we secured room for the remaining time, for exactly the same price per night as we were paying at Asia Backpackers, 600 B. We didn’t sleep well in the bungalow- and promptly checked out the next day. The rest of our holiday was great. To sum up: - go somewhere locally owned and pump some money into the local economy, where it is more likely the owner will care about their business and patrons - there’s plenty of great options for similar prices around bang bao and klong koi - you are bound to find something even if you don’t book in advance (we did and it was the busiest time of year).

Stayed here for 3 nights. The owner is very friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean with good airco. However, this place is not a real hostel- there is no bar or restaurant. Not many backpackers. It’s just rooms for rent. However, if you take that into account it’s pretty ok value for money. The Habitat is conveniently located if you have access to a scooter or taxi. Klong Prao beach and Whitesand beach are about a 10 minute drive. Supermarket at 100 meter distance from the hotel.

Our stay started so good with kind peoples but the rest was very different ... At the end of our stay the boss asked us to pay more because we have touched an other bed. He was just yelling at us and wanted to call the police if we didn’t pay. Watch out for the scam !!!

Sleepover! Hostel is clean and friendly place for budget travelers. We welcome short or long stays in one of our two air-conditioned dorm rooms. Each room sleeps eight (perfect for groups or for meeting new people) and each has 2 toilets and two showers with complimentary shampoo and soap. Each bed has privacy curtains and quiet time is from 10pm. Attached to Sleepover! is Gaya Cafe offering all day breakfast, smoothies, coffee drinks and even matcha! There is a lot of good Thai food in the nighbourhood so we offer more western fare. Try our homemade chili, bone-broths or pasta dishes. Located in the beautiful village of Salak Phet, a traditional Thai fishing and farming village. We are blessed with starry nights, sweet air and the melodic sounds of frogs at night. Salak Phet is popular with tourists who can enjoy spiritual time at Wat Salak Phet (Koh Chang's oldest temple), shoot instagram photos on Mangrove walkway or take an adventurous side trip to Wai Chaek beach. Wai Chaek is arguably Koh Chang's finest beach with its unique freshwater lagoon. Warm salty water meets cooler river water to create a sublime swimming experience. Kiriphet waterfall is another firm favorite where you can swim in the pristine water coming down from Khao Laem (Koh Chang's highest peak). We are located on the south east of Koh Chang is called Koh Chang Tai. There's so much more to do here than meets the eye. Kayaking for example between islands or even visiting a coconut oil or durian farm. So please consider staying with us and we'll help you get the best out of your time on Koh Chang.
Me and my man decided to get away from the turistic part of koh Chang. We went from west to east by motorbike, about 1 hour ride. Just by chance we saw a sign sayin ”gaya café” in salakphet. We needed water and some rest, due to our swedish butts who aren’t too familiar with long motorbike-rides. For the last two weeks I’ve been skipping coffee since the thai-coffee is not in my taste at all. But after a warm Welcome and a really Fresh place at Gaya Café I decided too take an iced latte, and I didnt regret it. It was the best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Its also really nice that the owner has local knowledge, speaks thai and perfect english and was really nice. It also seemed like the café is all about sustainability, and thats really positive and rare here (according to me). They recommended a restaurant in kae bae, named O2. We tried it later same night and we really had some delicious food. Go there to get good coffee but also see ”the genuine” koh Chang. Thank You.

It was a great hostel; they will do all your laundry and fold it nicely for cheap. Great location and had a private room so it was great. 2 small things; one night a huge palm tree branch fell off and almost struck me next to my room when i was walking to lobby. other is that a all white long centipede crawled up my shower but i drained him back down and covered the hole with baby powder so that i could see if he came back up and where he went haha. besides that it was like $12 online for room and $8 per night in person when i went in February 2017.
