I always enjoy being here yet this time I was not even given time to digest my food even despite my protests. They very clearly wanted me in and out and no more about it. Unpleasant; unsavoury and indeed ungracious especially when I had booked well in advance.
My starter was a very pleasant chicken salad a little more would have been welcome. The server came to take my plate before I had finished. For mains I went for the beef the little that I was given was very tasty; I thought that I would be afforded the opportunity to digest my food before the dessert; yet within three minutes I was asked four times what was I going to have. The whole thing was very rushed and they clearly wanted me out for the next person. What a deprivation for a single person on their own yet again. A little more consideration would be welcome and perhaps even to recognize that there is a person here who is unable to swallow as commanded. Helas!

Excellent well run cafe with delicious coffee and scones and beautiful salads. You can lunch here healthily and have beautiful Deserts in s warm clean environment. The staff here are superb and friendly and you can have a takeaway of any description all reasonably priced. Nothing is too much trouble to The charming ladies who work there .

Had dinner here with some colleagues. The restaurant was reasonably busy. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The menu offers a good selection for starters and mains. I didn’t check out the Deserts!! Overall the food was and the presentation were good. Steaks, chili prawns and chicken were ordered and all were enjoyed. Vegetables were supplied on a platter for sharing. The portion sizes are generous.
This is a good place to stop for food, be it for lunch or dinner.

Situated in Brickens on the N60, exactly halfway between the towns of Claremorris & Ballyhaunis
We arrived and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who asked us if we would like to sit by the fire as it was cold outside. The food was fantastic, I had mushrooms stuffed with white pudding, which were wonderful and then I followed with fish cakes. It was great to actually see and taste the fish rather than the potato. Him indoors had Cajun chicken salad followed by steak and not a piece of either was left on the plate. He had sticky toffee pudding and I did try a spoonful ....... I should have ordered it too.

This restaurant is a must visit for anybody looking for a top class breakfast. There is a top class menu with a fabulous choice. The best in Mayo!!! Absolutly everything on our menu is cooked to order. With one exception, our soups, which are completely home made and prepaired fresh for you each morning. Thanks for you review Laragan. Hope to see you back again soon.

By far the best place to eat in the location. Staff very pleasant and the food itself was excellent. We had the fish and chips. Well priced also. Closes quite early though - a daytime venue really as connected to shrine.

Had dinner here with family recently. Service was very slow. Garlic mushrooms were awful- there was a horrible taste of old oil off them. One of our group ordered a medium rare steak which came out well done. Another ordered the steak sandwich- the baguette was completely covered in pepper. I mean tonnes of pepper. I dont know what that was about. The place was freezing cold and had no atmosphere.

Dinner with friends at this improving bistro in Ballyhaunis, we opted to sit in the restaurant and we were seated quickly and the presented menu was quite extensive. We were served with a very tasty Vol a vent to nibble as we waited for our main course which was an unexpectedly pleasant addition. None of us had starters, which proved a good idea as the main courses were all of fairly large proportions, this bought smile to the faces of the guys...the steak was cooked just as requested and my husband's fish and chips were excellent, he said. I had the pasta which was very tasty and so large I couldn't finish it all, the ordered roast beef was also enjoyed and proclaimed to be equally delicious. The desserts were very well presented and the chocolate Ganesh, eaten slowly and savoured was very moreish... The service throughout was excellent and we all agreed, could find no fault with the quality and quantity of our meal. An enjoyable dining out experience all round and the bill was very reasonable. We shall be eating there again very soon.

The establishment seems to be a one person operation, the person waiting the table and apparently cooking the food was pleasant enough but apparently very busy.
My Wife had the Chicken Goujons with chips, the chicken was a bit over cooked but the chips were fine, I had the Mini Breakfast and all was good.

Picked up relatives at Knock airport who were keen to visit to Knock shrine on way to attend Mayo Wedding. Were thirsty and starving on arrival so decided to eat in one of tourist trap cafes opposite shrine site ( Knock itself is very run down considering the prices the town is charging the faithful for refreshments and holy goods). I knew i had made a mistake as soon as we had entered but exhaustion had hit the older pilgrims and so I sadly write the most negative review I have ever had to.
Decor : Dated, carpet threadbare, several different carpets joined together ( Badly) Overall musty smell, toilets a disgrace and also left wet and unserviced ( very dangerous).
Service : Shallow, tepid and could not care less. Asked for Brown Table Sauce was told they did not have it as there was no demand ( this in a cafe!!!!, in Ireland!!!!!!???). This summed up the service which was also indicated by the red sauce (Bramwells from Aldi 79cents) and the Jam ( Tesco Everyday Value 59 cents ) being on open display in their original containers. They did not even care enough to discreetly rob you blind or care enough to pop to aldi and buy even one bottle of brown sauce in a nation raised on the stuff.
Food : Packet soup in small bowl ( 4.95 euro ), one egg, half tomato, handful of cheap frozen chips ( 9.95 ) small slice of frozen apple tart, thin slice of cheap block vanilla (aldi??) (4.95)
Two rusk filled small sausages, 1 rasher, 1 egg, half tomato, handful cheap frozen chips and no brown sauce ( 12.95 euro ) . A total rob and the food was terrible
I hope never to suffer such a total rip off and would have gladly refused meal once I saw it proffered but circumstances and company were against this as well as time but I hope this review will help others avoid this total disgrace of a business not that the other cafes which lined the main street looked any better or indeed cheaper, this appears a town intend on screwing its passing trade without any justification relative to the actual cost of a empty plastic bottle for holy water or indeed a teabag or a egg. I seldom write any negative points and have been very lucky to have been very happy with my stays and meals as my previous reviews would show but alas the only positive I can say was that it was near the shrine, I can only hope the owner prays often.
