I don’t like cosy when I stay in hotels, with the possible exception of on holiday in, say, Florence. I don’t like twee, cute and homely. I have all that at...home! When I stay in hotels I want all the things I DON’T have at home, in my case lots of clear surfaces, clutter free, minimalist, elegant. These brand-new apartments have all that. Fresh, clean, modern, sleek. And extremely spacious! Being off season, it’s a bit off the centre; you can’t walk anywhere for a drink or a bite. But that’s ok. After the GoToJapan subsidy, I am paying the grand total of ¥13,000 (abt a hundred US$) a night. Works for me!

Hakuba, Japan is a mountain resort area where the vivid and beautiful nature spreads out in every direction. Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba is a resort hotel that is in harmony with the natural landscape, where you can enjoy a range of different activities throughout the year. The fantastic Western cuisine prepared by the chef at our Habuka Village resort, and superb hospitality, help to produce the perfect atmosphere during your stay.
Great restaurant. Lovely staff. I haven't been on here for a few years and reset my password just to review. :) I am a Plat so we got a little extra, but what a great little hotel. Refreshed 2 years ago and still has that new car smell. Highly recommend and I am a picky picky pick pick.

Resting at the base of Hakuba Happo-one ski area, Shirouma-so is a modern Japanese ryokan (inn) combining both traditional wood and modern Japanese "Wa" architectural styles, resulting in a creative and beautiful design. From the entrance featuring wooden pillars and beams preserved from the building's agricultural beginnings in the Edo period, to rooms with large windows and views of the northern Alps, you can relax, place yourself in the hands of Nature, and refresh yourself in the warmth of this historical ryokan. Shiroumaso is appreciated by many guests as a convenient base for skiing, snowboarding, or the numerous outdoor activities of the summer months, as well as a hub for touring Shinshu, Azumino, and other regions within Nagano.
Have stayed here several times years apart and am always amazed at the dedication and services offered by Toshi-san and those that work here, everything is spotless and in order, Onsen is amazing. Breakfast is Japanese style with a few western touches and is out of this world and it shows just how much they care, I would also recommend eating dinner here at lest once you won’t regret it Thank you for another amazing stay Dave

The hotel has a wooden charm about it. It had a very nice onsen which is well managed and with outdoor snow experience. The view from the hotel was amazing, you could see the entire mountain range and valley. It was total bliss. The hotel staff was kind and cooperative. Its located 15 min walk from the station and I would recommend you take that walk as it's very scenic ( if you have less luggage). The breakfast was good and the coffee was very good. I would like to visit this town again someday. The price was a very good value for room and facilities.

We actually loved everything about this place - very convenient location, big and comfortable rooms, excellent service and lovely staff running the place. Initially we planned to stay 3 nights but we felt so comfortable that we have prolonged our stay to 5 nights. We took an option with a breakfast and it has been a great choice, especially when you in rush to hit the slopes first time in the morning. Don’t hesitate to book it and enjoy!

If you want a home away from home feel when you go to Hakuba then this is the place for you. From being offered a pair of slippers to wear during our stay, picking us up from and dropping us to the Happo One Bus Terminal, offering to take me into town because it was on their way and needing ice for a sprained ankle, nothing was too much trouble. Their communication before we left home was second to none, they answered our questions, offered to make bookings for us and gave us many tips to make our stay effortless. Their pizzas were delicious, the best espresso martini I've ever had and breakfast...well our made to order breakfast every morning amazing. From Eggs Benedict to Pancakes plus pastries, cereal, toast and fruit, we really didn't need anything until lunch. Our room, number 7, was just big enough for adults which included a fold out bed for the 4th person. It was a 5 minute walk to Tokyo Hotel to get the shuttle bus to the ski lifts or into town. Truly friendly and welcoming staff where nothing is too much trouble.

We stayed for 8 nights. The room was much bigger than any of our previous motels in Hakuba. It had two single beds, a small fridge, kettle, bathroom and my favourite a balcony looking straight at the mountains. We were surprised to have room service, our towels and bins were changed every second day, we have never had this at other hotels in hakuba. The Onsen was lovely and had a hairdryer. The drying room had a heater and lockable lockers. We got heavily discounted lift passes from reception which was great. The manager ordered us a taxi and took our bags to the taxi and shook our hand on departure. We did have to pay an Onsen tax that wasn’t included on our bill in booking.com. The hotel only accepts cash. The location is a couple of hundred metres away from the lifts and very central a few mins walk to the shops and the bus stop. There’s heaps of restaurants around. We look forward to staying here next year.
