Firstly let me say the actual staff and pub itself are nice. However the hotel rooms aren't Mould in bathroom Toilet seat broken Shower/Tap broken Shower not powerful and difficult to change Bedroom was tired and uninspiring bits of paint flaking off. The bedroom lights had no bulbs in/didn't work Apparently Greene king have been aware of this for several years now and done nothing about it the rooms were last decorated 16 years ago (according to staff) I know we didn't pay a lot for the room but it wasn't great. The staff knew this and I'm surprised there haven't been some remedial work doing in the room just to make it functional

Charming country pub, with modern dining facilities; offering semi rural setting, amidst East Yorkshire's beautiful rural farmlands. With direct access to Hull, Beverley and Hornsea (all within 15 - 30 minutes drive)and less than 45 minutes from Bridlington. We offer delicious home cooked food (we're pretty well known for our homemade pies and fabulous fish and chips), fine wines and a selection of cask ales, spirits, lagers, bottled beers and ciders alongside a fine selection of soft drinks, teas and coffees. Our external, lodge style, accommodation all offer a peaceful nights sleep on comfortable beds in rooms equipped with flat screen TV's, tea and coffee making facilities. With family suites offering split level living and spa suites offering split level living. Regional renowned for weddings, we have a private function suite that can hold up to 180 guests for all celebrations, conferences and special occasions
This is advertised as a wedding venue etc but really seems to be a stopover for workers. We booked a standard twin room but the standard was poor. The toilet did not flush properly, there was no plug in the bath, the t.v. was very small and pointing at the floor, there was a lightbulb missing, the coathangers on the rail (there was no wardrobe) were broken. We spoke to someone about these issues and received a plug and lightbulb but the toilet was not fixed and we were not offered an alternative room. After mentioning that there was no hairdryer, we were given one which was really dirty and clogged with fluff. Otherwise the room was as clean as possible given the maintenance issues. We ate in the restaurant once which was ok but the food was quite basic for the prices charged. Maybe the Gardeners Country Inn will be pleased to hear that we will not be returning.

The Mayfair is a clean, comfortable bed and breakfast. we liked it because the staff were friendly, the room had everything we needed including tea and coffee making facilities and an all you could eat continental breakfast. the bar downstairs was nice because it had something on both nights we stayed. there is a car park and plenty of buses into Hull or just a half-hour walk to the city.

We booked this place on the quality of the reviews ,what a mistake ! We did not stay but left immediately. The place is up for sale and the room we had ( 7 ) was awful , it is very dated and in need of decoration ,maintenance and new furniture. The dining kitchen is being worked on ,windows boarded up ,some unit fronts off ,tools and materials lying about ,a work in progress the host said ! ,three breakfast tables were made up in there ! Had we known all this we would never have booked . The 1 star is for the balcony overlooking the garden which sadly we never got to use . We left very angry , dismayed and in disbelief at the reviews that encouraged us to choose the place . Steve and Selina

A 4 star sliver hotel above a modern city pub. The Whittington & Cat provides a range of different hotel rooms, from single suits, luxury doubles and apartments. Only a 5 min walk from the train station and the centre of hull. We are located a 2 min walk from Hull Ice Arena. We are a family run business and have been described as a hidden gem in the city.
What a wonderful find. Situated in a beautiful traditional building, the pub/hotel is right next to the Marina, and is only a short walk over the bridge into town and to the Bonus Arena. Very friendly owners and staff to make you feel welcome. The free parking is a real perk. We had a brilliant night’s sleep in the exceptionally clean and nicely decorated room. Enjoyed visiting the pub too. We will definitely go back when visiting Hull.

We stayed following a friends birthday party in the hotel. The room was very basic but bed was comfortable enough. We had to get rid of a few hairs on the bed and in the bathroom and drew a line at sharing the soap that had been half used in the shower! You get what you pay for but the mouldy bathroom needs a bit of TLC.

We have 9 bedrooms, Bar and lounge area, restaurant and Function Room (The Mansley Suite) all within the building, a large stoned carpark.
We have just returned from a two night stay and would definitely stay again. The room was small but very clean and comfortable and a problem with the shower was swiftly rectified. The breakfast was excellent, generous and well cooked. The staff are attentive and are clearly working hard to improve things. The only negatives would be the difficulties with the wifi and the lack of hand soap in the room (we ended up buying our own) We ate there both evenings as the food was excellent. The best fish and chips I've had in a long time!

This is a very handy and great concept place to stay, if you are going to a concert at the arena. All phone conversations were very efficient and polite. The hotel is clean, nice towels and very comfy beds, with modern decor and a great shower. This however is not a hotel for everyone. It is unmanned until 10pm. You are given a code for the front door and your room door. You are sent an email a couple of hours before you arrive and told what room you are in and given the codes. It is in an area where there are clubs and pubs and the music and conversations (arguments, screaming and laughing) where going on until about 2am and were very loud. That obviously is not the hotel’s fault. So if come knowing that this will be the case and you don’t mind a ‘human free check-in’ then this is a great place to stay.

Guests have described our hotel as a 'home from home' , you will receive a warm welcome and a fun stay. The Hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment and now offers good quality, contemporary accommodation for business and leisure visitors . Pickering Park Hotel Hull is just a 5-minute drive from the M62/A63 and is 2.2 miles from the city centre. The KCOM Stadium is 1.4 miles away.
Arrived early no issues with that, friendly guy talked us through check in via phone, booked direct, requested upgraded room, got keys to the room was not impressed! Very basic , Room 7 , strange smell, worksurface round sink cracked & shabby, no tea/coffee making facilities in room which I have never experienced before…(shared kitchen has all these) just not my preference like a cuppa in room without having to feel you need to get dressed & go downstairs (personal choice) called number enquiring if my room was an upgraded one, no it wasn’t they made a mistake, quickly rectified, changed room Room 10, have to say compared to 1st one this was progressively better. Parking , plentiful if you don’t have inconsiderate drivers parking across ways in front of hotel making access to rear carpark not accessible! , when we arrived back at 11pm we had to park on road round the corner (not hotels fault) Would we return , No, ok for what we needed it for attending function Hessle Town Hall.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while in the area. It was highly rated on Booking.com and was very reasonably priced and in a perfect location for what we needed. Denise is very friendly and accommodating, as was her husband. They allowed us to arrive late and check-out a bit later. The room had all we needed and was spotlessly clean. The decor is a little dated and the bed very soft, but it was warm and provided everything we were looking for. The TV (although very high to watch) had loads of channels, there were tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, a fridge on the landing and ironing equipment. There were even biscuits in the room and chocolates on our bed. The shower was a little weak in pressure but it sounds like it was turned down because someone else thought it was too hot. Breakfast was delicious! It cost £8 per person but it was well worth it. The full English was so fresh and hot and there were lots of other options with yogurts, cereals, fruit etc. There is secure parking onsite too. All in all, it was good for what we needed.
