I have to give top marks to the staff at this hotel who dealt with an awful situation very well. Myself and my husband were in the local area visiting friends for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. We arrived at the hotel receiving a friendly welcome, our room was beautifully clean and everything was great. The following morning we noticed we had no hot water. My husband spoke with Nancy on reception who sincerely apologised for the inconvenience, she explained the situation and ensured the issue would be resolved ASAP. She was very professional in what was a very stressful situation. Please can you pass on my acknowledgement, many thanks. We will be returning in the near future ?

This hotel is a great base to explore Kidderminster and the Worcestershire countryside - and we're close to West Midlands Safari Park and Severn Valley Railways too. The building is a grade II listed converted mill, with a bar that has an almost New York loft atmosphere. Let off steam going for a country walk. Or enjoy the power of steam at Severn Valley Railway Museum. Eplore 1000 years of history at Hartlebury Castle. Or make a detour through the animal magic of the West Midlands Safari Park. Then it's time for some serious relaxing with our extra-comfy beds and The Kitchen restaurant.
It's our second time staying in this particular hotel - mainly due to its location. Always a comfortable stay, clean and tidy rooms with no hassle or disturbance. A good hearty breakfast in the morning (although, beware of the female cook with a slightly short fuse - she was pretty rude on a couple of occasions) Other than that, an enjoyable stay!

Only stayed for one night prior to our canal boating holiday, this is a small travel lodge with limited facilities and parking, and it has not had the benefit of a refurbishment or refresh yet, so it’s fair to say it was a little tired looking. But the pluses for this hotel far outweigh this minor criticism, it is very reasonably priced. The staff at this hotel are its greatest asset, they are friendly, welcoming and very accommodating, they are a credit to Travelodge. Whilst the hotel did not benefit from the amenities found in more modern Travelodge’s like usb charge points and keyless doors etc., it was clean, tidy and airy. Also, the fact it does not serve meals is not an issue because there is an excellent restaurant within a stones throwaway. When we stayed it was quiet at night with no discernible noise from other guests or outside, the bed was big and comfortable, the room facilities were what you’d expect with ample tea, coffee and bathroom toiletries. But as I said earlier, the biggest plus for this hotel are its staff, they even changed our allotted room so we could check in earlier, something we really appreciated after a tiring journey. I am just sorry I can’t remember their names to give them a specific mention in this review.

Do not trust this hotel to honour a booking. I booked 4 rooms on 21st January 2022 for the night of 24th may. They confirmed the booking by email. A couple of days before we were due to arrive the receptionist phoned me to say that they only have 2 rooms available as they had taken another booking and double booked our other rooms. How can you trust a hotel like this to honour any booking. I spoke to someone who stayed there on that night and they said the service was terrible and they had to go to the pub up the road to eat as they weren’t opening the restaurant.

My booking was cancelled 2 days before I was due to stay......Because our room is being given to refugees..... And they are’nt even from Ukraine...… And they could'nt even be honest about it.... I was told by another Hotel in the same area... Unfortunately, Gainsborough House Hotel can't accommodate you on the dates of your booking due to unforeseen circumstances. Disgusting way to treat customers

Booked in January to stay here with my husband and looked forward to it since. Well, wish I hadn't bothered. Upon arriving at the location we wandered around the farm trying to find someone to help us check in and eventually came across a man smoking on a bench who didn't really acknowledge us initially, but after some coaxing we found out he was John, the partner of the owner of the place. He explained that Hannah, the owner had unfortunately had an accident and was in hospital, but he (who incidently had discharged himself from hospital to check us in?!?!) Would show us around, which he did. He showed us how to use the hot-tub and showed us to the annexe which is really nice, although we were dubious it had been cleaned as the sheets were crumpled and there was a head imprint on one of the pillows. When we mentioned that we had breakfast booked for the morning John laughed and said "well, that won't happen"....but due to the accident Hannah had had the previous night we let this slide and went about our plans of spending time at the local pub and a couple of visits to the really nice hot-tub. At about 11pm we received a knock on the door from the police as John had called them claiming people with dogs were attacking the property, they checked the grounds and cctv and found nothing. They informed us they had dealt with John before and that an ambulance was on the way,the other guests were scared and left immediately however I was over the limit and couldn't drive so had to wait it out. The police told us to lock the door and ignore if he tried knocking or getting in or to call 999 if we were worried! We subsequently had a very restless and sleepless night jumping at every noise and left very early the next morning. I informed Hannah of all of this as she blamed the other guests saying they were trying to goad John into a fight but the police have said it's a mental health matter. They seriously should not be dealing with the public in any way as it's only q matter of time before something goes seriously wrong. The actual facilities are really nice, but the customer service side of things both on-site and since has been nothing short of terrible. Such a shame.

The place stank, the bathroom was filthy and unusable and there were bugs every where under the bed. No one to contact at all to complain and no one who could help over the phone. Wanted to move to another room but felt to weirded out by the whole place. Left first thing in the morning and not had any replies to my complaints or offers of a refund. Disgusting should be shut down!
