The Cleo was an amazing place to visit! It's perched beautifully above lake kivu. My group stopped for an evening visit in the lake and dinner. The lake water was cool and extremely refreshing. Their overall service was amazing. This hospitality was above and beyond. Dinner did take some time, but most sit down restaurants in Rwanda are the same way. It's simply their culture. But this gave my group plenty of time to discuss some thing and enjoy the night. Is I have the opportunity to visit Rwanda again the will definitely be a stay here planned! Thank you Cleo!

Rwiza Village is a resort built at the shore of Lake Kivu in Kibuye (West Province of Rwanda) with local materials and with the contribution of local artisans. It operates since 2013 and has been mainly offering accommodation (self-contained cottages) Accommodation: beautiful Rwandan style decorated rooms with stunning views of the green gardens and Lake Kivu. The sound of the birds and the waves lapping the nearby shore soothe you to sleep in a peaceful environment. Our rooms combine perfectly tradition and luxury and are equipped with toilet and hot water showers. Restaurant: our menu offers an excellent selection of Rwandan, African and international dishes to suit the choice of our guests.
One of the affected area by this pandemic is travelling. I was forced to take my hiatus somewhere closeby where I don't need a flight to go to another destination. It turned out good anyway because I did not regret visiting this place. I stayed in one of their cute wooden cottages or some call it huts. There is no AC because you won't need it. Being close to the lake and having the floor elevated from the ground gives a good ventilation and circulation of cool breeze. You may get a good walking exercise if the cottage assigned to you is at the far end because the restaurant maybe is at the other end. There is no other restaurant close by the vicinity. If you will stay for few more days, I suggest that you bring enough drinking water because the resto closes at 10pm and they have small bottle water only. The shower has cold and hot water. You may need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, only soap is provided. The internet is weak in some areas but they are in the process of improving it. The cottages don't have television...yes, you've read it right. No TV. Well, for me this is not a big issue because it helped me relaxed my mind and destress from all that's happening around the world. In the morning, you'll be awakened by the chirping of birds around the area. In the afternoon, it's so satisfying to watch the sunset. In the evening, it's so serene! All the staff are friendly and the service is very good.

Rushel Kivu Lodge is a bed and breakfast guest house located on the shores of Lake Kivu, nestled between palm trees and a sprawling coffee plantation. Sleep in Rushel Kivu Lodge is the most profound and enjoyable as you have never experienced, nurtured by the lake’s waves and only interrupted by bird songs in the morning.
The usual wonderful stay was spoiled this time by other camping guests being allowed to play loud music. That ruined the tranquility of the place. Disappointing. Management, please note and choose what kind of resort you want to be/become.

We spent three nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Our double room was clean and spacious with a good bathroom. The hotel has an attached restaurant with delicious food which is very convenient. The food does take its time though. The balcony of the restaurant overlooks the lake which is quite atmospheric. The hotel can also help organise boat trip which adds to the convenience. All the staff were friendly and polite, and went out of their way to help us with our time in Kibuye (Honere was a highlight)- highly recommended.

In Kibuye I stayed at Home Saint-Jean. It was a great location with Lake Kivu. You can find lake Kivu on its three sides. Home Saint Jean also has some budget dormitories room for backpackers too. The staff was very cooperative and you can get valuable advices for budget tours.

Beautifully situated in a quiet bay, with stunning views across Lake Kivu. All the rooms have views over the lake, and the bar / terrace is on the lake. The food is great - if on the slightly more expensive end for the town. The views and the terrace is what really makes the place. There is also a jetty and a small 'beach' where we swam (the water in Lake Kivu is warm) as well as a sauna and a walk to a children's playground and gym area with table tennis, running / rowing machine. This is all within the estate. The staff are friendly and efficient, if on the slightly formal side.

Experience something unique in Karongi(Kibuye), Rwanda. Situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu. Macheo is a fully environmentally friendly retreat.Your comfort and the environment are our top priorities. Macheo will not be only a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Kivu. Our tents are comfortable and fully equipped. Each tent is fitted with solar lighting and enough storage space for luggage. For families, we can erect children's tents close to your own, allowing a little independence in a safe environment.
Camped for two nights with our own tents. This camp site is just great! It’s situated very nicely on top of a hill with great views and has great facilities. The food is excellent especially the vegetable chapatis! The staff is super nice and very helpful. Definitely want to recommend this place for visitors to the lake Kivu

This is a beautiful location to go with a group of friends or family for an escape on lake Kivu. There are four rooms in the main house and two in the annex, with some sharing restrooms. This is a house, not a hotel, so you have to bring your own food, and they can provide a chef for an extra fee. I came here with a group of friends and we spent most of the time outside on the patio taking in the lovely views. The fire pit is lovely in the evenings. We also were able to arrange a boat trip on the lake, which is a quick but steep walk down the road.
