Jaloladdin and his family has been running this handsome Khiva B&B for over 20 years since his parents started it with only 2 rooms. It now offers 7 highly sought-after rooms, located right within Itchan Kala, the old citadelled city. Because of his father's profession as a fresco painter, the family's B&B has been lovingly decorated like a traditional jeweled palace. Our room had amazingly beautiful painted ceilings on both the bedroom and the balcony that overlooked the Itchan Kala walls. We enquired beforehand and Jaloladdin arranged a wonderful sunset dinner on their rooftop that offered panoramic views of Khiva rivalling that of nearby Terrassa restaurant, but the rooftop was exclusively and romantically our's that night! The local Khivan dishes served were sublime (Khivan plov and pumpkin manti). Jaloladdin's recommendations of a local Khivan restaurant and the transfer to Nukus were also perfect. The privilege of staying with this hospitable family while visiting Khiva comes highly recommended!

Small friendly hotel in the heart of historical old city Fortress 'Ichan Kala' in Khiva. Our Hotel under new ownership has gone major renovation in Spring 2015 and upgraded to 3 star status with newly decorated spacious rooms, restaurant, yard and terrace. Free wireless Internet is provided in all public areas.
Arkanchi has a nice facility in a great location (inside the city wall). The most memorable part of the stay was Yosif's remarkably efficient & polite assistance with everything (transportation, PCR tests, printing documents, etc.).

The Hotel > Khiva is located in Ichan-Kala (> of Khiva) and occupies a building of former madrassah of Moukhammed Amin Khan, which was built in the middle of the 19th century (1851 - 1853). It is the biggest madrassah of the city where up to 250 students resided and studied till the beginning of the 20th century. Nowadays former cells of the students accommodate the tourists. The spirit of past times reigns over every nook of the hotel. The connoisseurs, as well as amateurs of ancient history and architecture may appreciate this hotel at its true value once they take a closer look at it: coolness during the hot period of time thanks to its unique structure lets the guests of the hotel stay inside with no need in air conditioning. The hotel offers 78 rooms. The room facilities are: a bath room, a mini-bar, a telephone, and an air-conditioning system. The following services are at the guests' disposal: a souvenir shop, an exchange office, a bar, a tea house.
Others have commented how beautiful this hotel and how unique a stay here is, and I would agree. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size with a double bed. However, I would say that our stay was disappointing. The bed was so hard that it felt as though we were laying on a board. The hotel put some extra duvets on top of what was clearly a mattress that had seen better days but it made little difference. We should really have been offered another room, such as the one next door which we spotted towards the end of our stay. There was a strong sewage smell when we arrived and whilst this wasn’t apparent throughout our stay, it came back with a vengeance on the last day. Finally, the choice at breakfast is poor, despite the beautiful surroundings of the separate restaurant. This hotel is probably number one in Khiva because of it’s uniqueness and, as I say, the staff are a credit, but it was our least favourite hotel of the 2 weeks we spent in Uzbekistan.

In the beginning of the 20th century, in a few minutes walking distance from the walls of the old city, at the Qosha Darvoza gate of the outer city, by the order of the khan of Khiva Khanate, Muhammad Rakhim Khan II, a guest-house was erected, which lived a unique history in the course of a century. Built in 1905, the building had functioned as a guest-house till 1913. As a pharmacy from 1913 to 1920. As a military barracks from 1930 to 1940. As a pharmacy and a dormitory for the personnel from 1950 to 1970. Since the Perestroyka period the building was abandoned. In the beginning of 2014 we, with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, concluded an agreement on a long-term rent of the building and restored the entire image and appearance of the building including all the rooms. Today, the building has been bestowed a new life and again humbly and hospitably opens up its doors for guests again.
Located near the Old City, we loved that we could walk everywhere. The hotel was quiet during our stay; we seemed to be the only guests. Breakfast was freshly made and plentiful. Our room had everything we needed, including Good WiFi.

Art House is located in Khiva. It offers free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a common lounge, a 24-hour front desk and a ticket service. Rooms include a work desk, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a bathtub. Some rooms have a seating area. An a la carte breakfast is served every morning.
This is real service starting with real nice welcome tea. They are proud of their town and want you to get the best experience: so when they recommend food it is because they want you to taste the good one, period. They will even tell you "if you take the short cut you can walk to the station " instead of selling you a taxi. If I would return there is no doubt where I'll stay.

The hotel is located in the original madrassa and close to the centre of the Old Town. As such it is full of character and the family running it did it with care and enthusiasm. Nice touch was the welcome reception: hot beverages and snacks all served in the courtyard. All rooms open to the courtyard. They are tastefully decorated with some period furniture. There was plenty of wardrobe space. Bathrobes and flimsy slippers were also provided. The fire sensors seem to have been taped off, probably to cover irritating flashing lights. Wardrobe was hidden behind the mirror doors built-in the side wall which made the room looking less clattered. The only window was above the entrance door. Watch out for low door frames, both external and (even lower!) internal, leading to the bathroom. To make it worse, they are all finished with sharp edges (?!) so plenty of opportunities for serious injury especially for taller guests. Bathroom was spacious, no toiletries were provided. Breakfast was served in the central piazza of the hotel and it was quite varied and tasty with eggs done to order. Overall, great place to stay but some finishing touches are required.

My review I feel will reflect what others have already said! The location of the hotel, just outside the old town, is very good. The pool and gardens outside are very nice but that is about it for good points. Our room was dated as was the whole hotel = traditional? The beds are rock hard and very difficult to sleep on. Curtains are thin and a light was shining into our room at the front. Wifi is only available in reception. There is no lift so had to carry bags upstairs (a porter was available though). Breakfast is very poor in choice and quality. Overall quaint but not great.

This 19th century madrasah is one of the historical monuments of ancient Khiva. Inside the madrasah there is a 21 meter high tower in the only cylindrical style in Central Asia. Now visitors to our city have the opportunity not only to see our historical monuments, but also to spend the night in them.Polvon qori boutique hotel consists of 16 large and medium-sized rooms, each of which is decorated in traditional national style and equipped with European standard air conditioning and TVs. Each of our rooms has a large private bathroom, decorated with special antique patterned ceramics. bathrooms are heated by floor heating. Our hotel has a large restaurant for 50 people and the height of this restaurant is 10 meters. Our restaurant prepares dishes of European, vegetarian, Central Asian cuisine and, of course, national Khiva dishes. There are trestle beds in the courtyard of the madrasah, and if you sit there and have a cup of tea, you will feel like in the 19th century. In our hotel in the evening you can see the moon and stars in a clear sky through a telescope. Many of the tourists who visited our hotel before are still impressed and write that they will definitely come again.

Stayed two nights here in a single room. Very friendly staff and nice ambience generally with wooden floors and doors. Room was clean and quiet. Wifi a little hit and miss but generally passable. Breakfast was included and was the standard fare. I thought the location was very good - within the city walls, just a couple of minutes walk to the south of the main sights but feels very local and a world away from the busyness just up the road. Easy to pop in and out for early morning or late evening walks. NB some of the earlier reviews mention paying by credit card - when I stayed in June 2019 this wasn't possible.

The hotel is situated just few meters away from main entrance to Old city (close to Ota dorvaza west gates)
On the plus side: location (a few steps across the street from the main gate to the old town), breakfast buffet and the friendly staff. Negatives: small rooms, simple and over-used furniture and no way to stop the shower from flooding the bathroom... So it’s s a very basic (but clean) place and if you get a good price I would recommend it for one or two nights (max).
