Iâve used this pub numerous times when walking my dog. The time before last, I was a little disappointed with the fact thereâs a minimum spend on cards, which is a pain when you just want a quick pint and you donât carry cash. Most places in the 21st century donât have a minimum spend now. Anyway. I decided to boycott the place until recently. I went back, on a dog walk and had a bowl of soup and a pint. Paid in cash. It was actually pretty nice, but then you canât go wrong with a bowl of soup, and a hearty bowl it was! The waitress and cook I think was the landladyâs daughter who was very pleasant. The next time I dropped in, this time with my girlfriend, the staff cook was on, who wasnât as pleasant as the landladyâs daughter. Quite the opposite. Again I ordered a bowl of soup, which was actually quite nice. The bowl however mustâve been shrunk in the wash as it was the size of a tea cup and at £5 per bowl I expected a good portion of soup like my previous visit. Rip off. My girlfriend ordered a jacket potato, with beans and cheese. The beans and cheese were cooked very hot which is just aswell as the baked potato was still frozen. Not many people like iced potato with sizzling beans and cheese so my girlfriend politely asked the cook to rectify this situation. She came back, with another attempt but unfortunately we still found frozen patches in the potato. Clearly, this potato has its own climate system with north and south poles. The cook explained she probed the potato in numerous places, but clearly not in the places where potato ice bergs were floating in the south potato sea. How can you not cook a potato properly? Cooking a potato from frozen clearly doesnât work so perhaps they could review their potato cooking policy? The service was, well there wasnât any really. Even after the second potato delivery there was no check up to see if the ice had melted. Instead, a frosty reception at the bar when paying (full price) for a shocking lunch which even a penguin could cook properly. Any pub where you have to constantly ring a bar bell to get any service isnât a place worth visiting. They really need to sort themselves out if they want customers to feel like itâs a place worth going to. For me, itâs not, for me itâs the end. From now Iâll keep walking on until I hit the Tolly, Harrington and I suggest others do the same. I hear they can actually cook a potato there!
This place gets a lot of guaranteed trade from folks visiting Warner Edwards gin distillery. However I know from our circle of friends people use this as a destination dining venue. Iâve now been twice ; once 6 months ago and once a few days ago of this posting. This recent visit confirmed my thoughts. Drinks expensive. Wine OTT by bottle and glass for average wines. Itâs also a very short wine list. Our waitress was surly ( like last time) . There was an oddity on the booking time when we were told to arrive for quarter past the hour and not half past . By the time the clock had got to 40 minutes past the hour there was only one other table occupied and we hadnât received any food in any event so why the stipulation to stagger arrival ?? ( Understand if it was heaving with people )Food quality was so poor it was unspeakably disappointing. We ordered off the lunch time menu and clearly that is designed to offer poor quality at a â fair â price .The main restaurant menu is over priced . Places like this donât know where to head next with there pricing structures as burgers get to the price of a cut of meat and fish and chips likewise .If it was zinging and excellent quality youâd perhaps be content to pay more but not as it stands . However it is a location that pulls the populous in for two main reasons ( one highlighted above ) ; the other - country set folk who like to think if they pay over the top prices it must be good !Not for us .

Authentic Chinese Tapas and Cocktail bar.
Yeah, weâll wait in an empty restaurant midweek whilst you check the bookings diary to see if you can fit 2 of us in...Still mostly empty when we were leaving...Dirty glasses on tables, no sugar offered with coffee, had to get attention from staff who are adept at looking around without seeing. Food was pretty good - hence the 2 stars. I am very sorry for your experience. I would be very grateful if you could contact us at this e-mail address:[email protected] thanks

Another happy visit to the Bulls Head. Good beer, very efficient service and a delicious Sunday lunch. The veg in particular were cooked just right. A lovely place to visit for lunch. It feels as if it is a proper beer drinkers pub and not just a restaurant.

Relaxed informal restaurant and warm cosy bar with 5 letting en-suite bedrooms one of which has the oldest crux beams in the country exposed in the room is above the beautiful Welland Valley
5 of us booked at 12pm for lunch. Set menu but a great choice of meats & also salmon & a veggie option. Havenât been here for years as do not live locally anymore. What a change and definitely for the better. Very nice interior, staff great, waiting time spot on and the food was in my sons words the best roast dinner heâs ever had in a restaurant. My beef and the roast potatoes were perfectly cooked as were the vegetables. Desserts were all delicious. We will definitely be returning as very impressed .

Friendly service, food arrived quite quickly. Main food item first, salads, chips, veg, sides, arrived piecemeal and not with main dish element. Then any requested sauces (not already on the table).Good portion sizes. The men's toilet was flooded and wasn't a great experience.Overall; OK.

We visited the Thornhill Arms for the first time for lunch today, and had a really lovely meal. We had, scampi, turkey and ham pie x 2, beef with peppercorn sauce. All 4 main meals were delicious. We finished up with 4 puddings, 2 x crumbles, chocolate cake and treacle pudding and all were blinking fantastic. The service was very friendly and the food was served relatively quickly. Overall a lovely meal, and we will definitely be back.

Best looking menu I've seen for years. Outstanding views of rolling countryside. We didn't even know there was Warners gin distillery next door, that was an unexpected bonus. Service was terrific and the food was gorge. If you have a day to waste and like to go off the beaten track, make a bee-line to Harrington.

Welcome to The Swan Braybrooke, Market Harborough, away in the South Leicestershire, Northamptonshire boarder parish of Braybrooke. This 17th Century Thatched inn combines great pub food using the freshest local ingredients possible with fantastic wines a
Weâve been here a few times for drinks and always felt welcome. We havenât eaten here for such a long time until today when we went for Sunday lunch. Jess greeted us in a very professional but friendly manner and we sat in the lovely bar area before lunch. It was nice to place our orders whilst sat in the bar and we were called through when the starters were ready. From start to finish, everything was spot on. We had a nice enough rest between courses and not rushed at all. Jess came to see us throughout and really made us feel welcome. She told us of future events they are having but without pressure. Looking forward to going again.
