Family of three . Booked for evening meal. Disorganised generally front of house. Bar staff good, to the right of reception past seating area.Very pleasant amuse bouchée x 2. Homemade bread . Food a bit clever clever i.e. more about appearance than quality. Duck's egg really clever in concept however just in middle of pesto pool. Trout surprised me. Great big clod of undercooked fillet, just like salmon fillet but not good. Dessert rhubarb missing any genuine taste of rhubarb . Cheese selection average and without labelling individual cheeses on platter what is point of telling you on menu? Just a blind tasting session.'Nice coffee and brandy. Wines well priced. Emporer's new clothes venue with chef who cooks for himself not guests. Would not consider going again. It's no good in my opinion. However if you want to say you've been that's ok. Doubt you'll be back !!!

A warm welcome to humans and dogs, great taps, stunning food and beautiful views! We aim to serve classic pub food with a twist that changes with the seasons, all food is made fresh and served to you in relaxing surroundings with great music to accompany.
We enjoyed a delicious evening meal here and spoilt ourselves with three courses. Falafels and potato skins to start, both generous portions so make sure you go hungry if youâre having three courses! We both had burgers which were great, served in a charcoal bun; Iâve never had that before, it looked really interesting. Finally we had pear & chocolate Eton mess which was amazing. Loved every mouthful. Fantastic service from the owner who takes care to speak to each table, really friendly.

Award winning restaurant with rooms featuring the best of Cumbrian produce
Our family of 3 visited The Cottage in the Woods for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Setting was beautiful, food was delicious and service stellar. We would recommend booking early and requesting seats with a view (which for good reason goes quickly). We stayed in Windermere and this was 100% worth the drive!

The Pheasant at Bassenthwaite's fine dining restaurant is renowned for excellent food that exceeds expectations, and we were recently awarded 2 AA Rosettes in recognition of the precision in cooking and quality of ingredients. We are proud to be the only
We've eaten at The Pheasant many times down the years but this was our first visit to the smartest of its eating spaces, the Fell Restaurant. We had a really terrific Sunday lunch. A good trad roast English Sunday lunch is not easy to produce - you have to bring lots of ingredients that need different cooking times, and that have a very small window when they are at the best, to the table. Every single ingredient here, from meat to roast potatoes, to vegetables, to gravy was spot on. And there was lots of it (including a sea of excellent gravy, for which the kitchen gets many extra marks). Starters were good too - my Caesar salad was a reminder of how good this simple dish can be in skilled hands using good ingredients. Drinking fairly modestly, and with coffee + petit fours + service, the bill came to about £38 a head, which seemed a bargain. Excellent service too.Gosh, thank you JM49 for such a wonderful review. It is indeed a fine art to produce a top notch Sunday lunch and we are very fortunate to have such a highly skilled kitchen team at The Pheasant. We hope to welcome you back again very soon.

A relaxed newly refurbished restaurant and bar serving excellent uncomplicated meals using locally sourced produce and ingredients. An extensive choice from our menus with good variations to suit individual taste or dietary needs and daily specials. All a
Our friends brought us here for lunch on Saturday 14th of September. Itâs an wonderful historic building with absolutely stunning views! The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The menu has plenty of choice, the wine list was very good too. One of us had the fish and chips, and three of us had a wonderful beef curry (which I frustratingly cannot recall the correct name of!). Hubby had a pint of real ale, the driver had tonic, and two of us had a lovely Australian Shiraz, fruity and smooth, delicious! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A member of staff called Carol was absolutely lovely! So cheerful and friendly, really made us feel at home, also Carol recommended the dessert of âSticky Toffee puddingâ, which was sensational! We had a really lovely afternoon with our friends. We can definitely recommend the Ravenstone Manor Restaurant. Wendy & Derek From Lincoln xx

We were looking for somewhere a bit special for a meal during our self catering stay at Braithwaite, more or less on the opposite side of the valley to Lyzzick Hall. We were warmly welcomed and invited to sit in the comfortable lounge which had great views whilst we enjoyed our pre dinner drinks. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. If we had one small criticism it was that the interval between the courses could have been a little more leisurely but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the meal, which was great value.

For a less formal occasion or an impromptu lunch, the Bistro at The Pheasant uses the same expertise to select the best Cumbrian produce and create something special for every guest. The Bistro is open for lunches (from 12pm til 2.30pm), including Sunday
We were staying nearby and decided to visit for dinner. The specials board looked nice and we enjoyed some home made potato crisps while we browsed the menu. To start we had the bread board with olives, butter & the most amazing home-made hummus and Brie bites with tomato chutney. For mains we had haddock, ribeye steak and cheeseburger all served with triple cooked chips. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked and portions were large so we struggled to finish our meals completely!!! No room to sample deserts sadly! The staff were polite and attentive and there was an extensive wine list with a bottle of chilled water served at the table. A really lovely night and would highly recommend a visit here!! The locals in the bar enjoyed real ale and whisky which looked good also!!!Thank you Julia for such a lovely review and we're delighted you enjoyed your evening with us. Please do come back again soon and perhaps you might even stay with us next time!

With everything from teas, coffees, snacks, crafts and evening meals, to wines, beers, gifts and delicious Sunday lunch, this restored Victorian School is must for visitors to the Lake District
We ate here on Mother's Day. Sunday lunch was great and there was complementary live music which was really fab. The roast lunches were lovely. The kids meals were really good vale (but the mash may have been instant?). We will return as it is such a good venue and such good value. Service was good, although another pair of hands serving may have helped. The staff are very helpful.

The Bistro at the Distillery is comfortable and stylish, offering an informal and modern dining experience to its customers. One of our main goals is to embrace the spirit of the Lake District. We achieve this by using regional ingredients where possible
The restaurant is attractive and modern within the setting of a working distillery created in a renovated farm. The staff were welcoming and really helpful. The three course set lunch - using a Travelzoo voucher that included a tour of the distillery - offered brilliant choices of well presented, tasty food.

The restaurant is open to non-residents 7 days a week and is situated in a lovely rural setting on the A591 5 miles north of Keswick.
I've made better mushroom risotto myself, didn't resemble the description on the menu. Button mushrooms not the exotic mix promised. Vegan soufflé had texture of suet.Undercooked celeriac with over cooked duck.Don't bother with the Coach House because the food is outstanding across the road at the Ravenstone Manor. While I accept that we can't please all the people all of the time your review is quite simply unfair, if you were this unhappy with the food why didn't you say so at the time. We have an AA rosette and strive to maintain this high quality at all times and from the reaction of most of our guests we succeed.
