The eco friendly luxury camp offers a unique combination of adventure, wellness and relaxation for the sophisticated traveler who loves romantic pampering and unique wildlife experiences. THE ENVIRONMENT Luxury in the wild - at Severin Safari Camp that is no paradox. Our camp meets ecological tourism standards in order to ensure that the park's sensitive ecosystem is preserved. This allows humans and animals to coexist in harmony. The Camp has been carefully constructed to minimize the impact on the fragile Tsavo West ecosystem; we utilize solar technology whenever possible, have implemented strict waste management system and have a biological waste water treatment plant. Waste water from tents and the kitchen is collected and filtered through lava stones, gravel and sand. It is important for us to educate our guests and staff to safeguard the environment and nature. We ensure all driver guides and guests abide the park rules of Kenya Wildlife Service and keep to the stipulated roads. For the interested we take you back stage and show you how we take every precaution to protect the fragile Tsavo environment. The guided walk will take you to our solar panel system, waste management system and explain you of biological waste water treatment plant works. Children are the future of Kenya. The Severin Safari Camp works very closely with the orphanage Mij Wa Salama in Mombasa, to improve the lives of the children. The camp has been granted the 'TUI Environmental Champion Award", "International Spa Standard" and won the "Travelife Gold Award".
On our journey to the Chyulus out of Tsavo, part of the road collapsed causing our Landover to fall down a valley onto its roof. Luckily all the passengers were only minorly injured and I dislocated my shoulder. Nick Haller arranged two teams to collect us and take us back to Severin Camp. Severin Camp put us up for the night and I stayed there the next 3 nights trying to retrieve the car. It’s in moments of crisis like this when the people who really care go above an beyond to help. I reached out to the Tsavo trust, KWS, Wardens Engineers, Finch Hattons Camp and others. However they didn’t even return my calls after my plea for help. KWS wanted to charge me 150 k for their tractor loader. And the Senior warden Oyugi even made me pay for the park entry of my recovery teams and vehicles. However Severin camp were excellent in offering help. They allowed me the use of their vehicles to go the the crash site daily (over an hour away) and return in the evening. Philip, the camp technician, drove me there each day. On the day we finally got the car out by lifting it with a bucket loader from Mtito, Phillip helped with the whole recovery process. When the digger was pulling the recovered car back to Mtito Andei it was about to run out of fuel. Philip rushed me to Mtito late that evening to return with enough diesel to refuel the digger and let the car be towed the rest of the way. Daniels, the head at reception, was very helpful in organising this and gave us lifts from the main camp to our Banda seeing as we did not have a vehicle of our own now. All the other staff were equally as helpful when they were on duty. Severin even gave us a 10% discount due to the circumstances. During our extended stay I found it hard to fault the camp. The food was delicious, all the facilities were excellent and the camp was beautifully maintained. Thank you for all the extra help you gave us.

The staff at the camp were really lovely and friendly. The pool was a hit with the kids as it was hot. Tents worked perfectly and being on the river so close to park entrance was ideal. We used a local guide from the camp whose English was passable but his skills were tip top and found tons of animals

Flamboyant is located on one of the most stunning stretches of Diani Beach. With only ten bedrooms the atmosphere is intimate and personal. The bed and breakfast comprises a mix of ocean, pool & courtyard view rooms. It has a big swimming pool which not only if perfect for a refreshing swim but serves as a great focal point. Flamboyant has a gentle, cosmopolitan and fresh vibe!
Highly recommend! We were traveling for field work so we needed a quiet, private and affordable place and Flamboyant ticked all the boxes! The booking process was wonderful, Angela helped us choose the best room. We stayed at the Baobab we loved the lounge areas (well air conditioned) within the cottage which offered a view of the beach, perfect for catching up with work and just chill and you can walk to the beach from your room. Only downside for us was the food portions the prices are reasonable but such small servings! We didn't want to have to go outside the establishment for meals but had no choice, good news is they can pack breakfast/snacks for you (upon request) if you have an early morning. Will definitely stay here AGAIN!

Banana House is a boutique hotel in Shela, Lamu Island. It has all the charms of a quietly elegant private home with 16 rooms spread over three houses situated in a magnificent tropical garden with swimming pool. True Wellbeing is experienced the minute you step through the door. Peaceful, warm welcome, organic food, fresh air, you immediately relax. Our social responsibility, yoga, massage and the love that Monika and Banana have put into the House to give it a warm and homely atmosphere makes Banana House unique. So…welcome to Banana House. Welcome home!
Lovely hotel with a lot of charm. Gardens and pool area particularly beautiful, and great location close to Shela Beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. I work in travel and always choose boutique hotels for their personal service and most of the staff did not disappoint. The owner was around a lot and we saw her daily but it was strange to not have any acknowledgment or welcome from her. Food was very good, really enjoyed the Swahili dinner in particular, and very good value. Breakfast also very good and great to have Oliver serve us each day. He was a credit to the hotel and made us feel very welcome. The spa across the path (I think it is connected to the hotel) is amazing and again really good value. We got a full body 90-minute massage for about £40 a head. Highly recommend. Overall, definitely recommend Banana House.

Nairobi's best kept secret can now be revealed. Kahama Hotel Nairobi next to the Globe roundabout is Nairobi's answer to a 2-star hotel with the comforts of a 3-star Hotel.
In terms of the rooms, the rooms are good, clean and average. In terms of wifi it’s very poor and disappointing. You can’t have a room in the far corners otherwise the signal will be very poor and it’s sad especially if you are spending 4,000 Kenya shillings (£25) per night, you would at least expect ALL rooms to have great signal and for there to be more wifi. They have the money and facility but seem to be very limited to certain rooms. My little cousin accidentally spilled a drink by mistake, and they had the audacity to charge us for the glass break which is outrageous and goes against basic human rights. Wifi needs to be improved, how can you just have good wifi for certain rooms but not all especially when you’re spending so much money which clearly doesn’t get invested back into the business. And charging your loyal customers for such little things especially when we come every year is damn right unfair and unacceptable. No customer should be complaining or having trouble when staying in a hotel that claims to be one of the best in the country and goes against their word and moral standards. I expect improvement and a more enjoyable experience for myself and other customers that wish to stay here.

A wonderful oasis in the Karen area away from the bustling Nairobi business district. Very cozy cottages with more than ok standards. Super service minded staff will look out for your needs. Joseph is the go to guy, serving both restaurant and pool bar. The only set back was overpriced transportation if you ask the hotel reception. Better to go Uber or booking.

Marine Holiday House in Malindi features traditional thatched Makuti-roofed buildings surrounded by tropical gardens. The resort has a a large pool with a beautiful wooden bridge and is only 800 m from the beach and Marine National Park - Malindi. The rooms include African-style furniture and decor and have access to a patio or balcony. All rooms come with either garden or pool views. Guests can enjoy the entertainment area with lounge and TV. African cuisine is served at the resort bar and restaurant. Marine Holiday House is 4 km from Malindi Museum and 6 km from Malindi Airport.
Place os really beautiful and quiet. Very serene cleanliness is top notch. They have very sizeable rooms and big bathrooms. Also there are fans that help controlling the 32°c temperature. The pool is clean and accommodates all ages and experience levels. The staff is very friendly don't shy away from requesting assistance. High recommendations for the food as well and all this in an affordable package. The list goes on and on Close to the Marine Park Beach and other great sites (Vasco da gama, snake farm, first church, Pier, also not that far is the gede ruins) Low note. Sheets and towels need faster replacing. Would have loved to get some shower gels and lotions to reducing luggage. An AC would still be better than fans but I guess cost would go up as well. Also pick up and drop off from the airport would really be great.

Amani Gardens Inn, formerly the Mennonite Guest House has a 50-year reputation of warm hospitality and quiet gardens. Located in Westlands, our guest house is situated conveniently close to major shopping malls, banking centers, and restaurants, yet the place still retains the feel of a retreat in the countryside with our old English-style buildings and ancient trees. You can spend the morning quietly reading under a 100-year old jacaranda tree, or hop in a taxi and be exploring down town a few minutes later. Amani means peace in Swahili which is a distinctive of the Mennonites. We hope you will find our gardens a peaceful oasis in the middle of a bustling city. Amani means peace in Kiswahili. Spacious gardens, friendly staff, and traditional American food bring our guests back again and again. Amani Gardens is under the Mennonite Board of East Africa.
This hotel was extremely filthy. There were mud hand marks on the walls. The phone didn’t plug it in anywhere and was unusable as was the in room safe. The shower was unusable as there are wires hanging out with smoke stains. The doors do not shut completely so your room is filled with mosquitoes at night so you need to use the net that has never been washed. No refrigerator -no drinkable water. This used to be a missionary home which did not allow alcohol or smoking. This is no longer the case. They also run a daycare there during the daytime and basketball games at night making it a very noisy stay.We were supposed to stay four nights but instead had to leave after two nights. We were overcharged we were told $80 a night and we’re charged $120 per night. We transferred to the Doubletree Hilton which was cheaper at $100 a night. It was impeccably clean -had a refrigerator ,a safe ,in room drinking water and an amazing breakfast buffet every morning.

I travelled solo in Kenya for two+ months with multiple stops in Nairobi in between adventures outside of the city. Every time I came back I wanted to come back to my Khweza. I must have stayed here at least 7 times for 2-5 nights at a time. The rooms are simple and nice and basically all you need for budget travelling. The included breakfast was always really nice and they offered cleaning service for my clothes for a fair price. But the MAIN thing is the lovely staff who were always helpful, always smiling and so much joy and good vibes. So I knew I could always have a good time only by having conversations with the wonderful staff. There also were many young energetic travellers coming and going + fun Nairobi locals I met who came there for a dinner or the bar. The location is good for experience of real Nairobi and very easy to get ubers from the front door. The price is very good in my opinium for the room + breakfast so I highly recommend this place for adventure travellers and would always come here if travelling to Nairobi again!

Boutique hotel made of 2 Swahili houses adjoin, with 10 superior rooms, plunge pool. Luxury accommodation, in the Old Stone Town of Lamu, located on the seafront. Restaurant & coffee shop. Traditional dhows for comfortable excursions.
A beautiful hotel with gorgeous rooms and stunning interior design The restaurant, lounge areas and pool is also very well presented. The people and staff were so friendly, welcoming and kind. The food was some of the best we had in Lamu. It’s location near the centre of old town makes it very handy for getting around by foot or by boat.
