Things to do in Russellville
I average eating there 2 times a week. They know what I order and how I like it prepared and they try to please. They accept coupons and always have value meals available. Senior meals are available on Sundays at a reduced price. Most of the time, they are fast and everything is clean unless they are hit with a big rush.
See what the Colonel's cooking at your local KFC. Stop in today and enjoy our world famous chicken - it's Finger Lickin' Good!
Before it moved to its new location, the running joke about the Russellville KFC was that "you get your sides at the KFC and you get your chicken at the gas station" - they were always out of chicken! Now that they have moved to new digs, the same joke can continue. Some of you may know that I seldom rate a place poorly unless they do the same thing more than once. Well, this last visit (and I do mean last) was the third time, and the second time in a row, that it was going to be "at least a 20 minute wait" for chicken. I know it was Sunday, probably a big chicken-selling day, but it is your business, plan for it rather than being consistently behind or even out.You see people waiting to pounce as soon as some chicken is delivered to the buffet. That is never a good sign either. And finally, quit bringing out thighs as substitutes for breasts. I ordered and paid for breasts; no I don't want thighs, and no they are not the same thing.Boo to KFC in Russellville - wherever they locate.
First off, the food is good. Unfortunately this is a little known place and they don't seem to try to help themselves with their publicity. They started out only open something like lunch and Friday and Saturday nights - maybe only lunch. Then they expanded their hours a little but did not tell anyone. Then they expanded again, again with no ads. I found out each time I went in during what I thought was their regular hours (only to learn of more). I think that this holds them back substantially. No one thinks about them or knows when they are open. I saw a simple sign the other day that they now have grilled items on their Sunday buffet. Who knew they had a Sunday buffet? I knew almost everyone I there when I went on Sunday, and all were first-timers surprised it was open. The buffet was extremely small - grilled chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, pulled pork and baked beans. Salad bar was barely more than you would have at home, with some slaw and potato salad. That was it. I thought it was a bit expensive at $10 or $11 for that, (over $24 for two buffets and drinks), but it was very tasty. I understand they have Mexican buffet on another night (Thursday?), steak and seafood, maybe on Friday and prime rib on Saturday. Not sure about all of that, but a friend there told me that. Again, good food, limited buffet, but the menu is decent. Can be just a tad pricey for Russellville and what is actually offered up.

Best place to eat in Russellville. I live here, and am never disappointed with Slappyz. The food is excellent, and the service is even better.

My semiannual stop by brought me nearby, when I made the shortcut, historic route, thru town. " Wouldn't a simple, historic CONE, like on the roof, hit the spot," I ask, myself. Their answer, "we don't have chocolate ice cream," & " NO, we don't dip cones." SAY WHAT ??? SO, I got a little vanilla cone, & it was running down my hand, seconds after receiving it. Oh well, "WE HAVE FLAVORED SHAKES" !!!
They have a buffet for about $7.25 which isn't bad at all. The buffet is very small and they have mostly the same thing every day. Fired chicken, white beans and mashed potatoes and a bit more. It will fill you up and it tastes good. Just not a lot of choices. The servers are always nice and provide good service. The old woman who runs the place seems to be a little on the mean side.

Definitely the best BBQ around. Have tried other places, but always end up back at Roy's. I also love the atmosphere, the drive-thru convenience, and I absolutely LOVE their chuckwagon sandwich. Good value, great service, great food.
