is feedback welcome?

after my one night stay I received a check out email asking for feedback. I sent it to the Inn email rather than posting my experience online - best that I take it up with ‘them’ first. Seems the desk person who checked me out is also the manager and fielded my email feedback - and quite literally turned on me, the customer. My verbal report to her in person was that no matter how conscientious I was taking a shower - water escaped onto the drywall and puddles on the floor. She replied that she had never heard that before…. wasn’t the curtain long enough? Surely she would know cause there would be other people reporting it and soaked towels on the floor. Well, I replied the curtain was wide and long enough but it still happened, says I. She proceeded to explain on and on…and I said - “ I am ** yrs old and know how to use a shower curtain now I’m sorry I said anything. “ She says ‘can’t I talk?’ ME: I do not need to hear a report on the history …” SILENCE She handed me the receipt, I said thank you and left. The email I sent to the INN got a defence from the same staffer. It didn’t say if she would forward my feedback to the owner. In my email I suggested my comment ought to have evoked a simple ‘ oh dear, thanks for letting us know’ …. not a lengthy explanation on and on thru an acrylic shield. She promptly replied to my email and noted that she was shocked and taken aback how I responded - as it was very sharp and uncalled for….” what? …and she thought her questions were posed in a friendly manner ,,,, to determine the exact nature … Honest to gosh…. let me out of here…. Just keep it simple and say - ‘thx for reporting this - I’ll pass it along’ And don’t forget she pointed out that no one has ever had a problem with the shower except me, but that she will instigate a survey with future guests,,,,isn’t that passive aggressive? She apologized that I couldn’t keep the water in the shower! I tried to keep this between them and me …and I don’t expect that people won’t stay there because of a staffer…. I admit, I have stayed there several times, had complained about various things, like not being able to figure out the remote, or not getting an upgrade or about price increases, and a guy sitting in his work truck drinking for hours on end. I’m not afraid to speak up. But why would I bother to mention my experience to get this grief? I was very Conscientious and know how water can ruin the drywall. It was just a heads up. In hindsight, I wonder if it is those curved bars holding the curtain that impedes a good fit, Anyhow, I concur my communication style is direct and I know i would not do well in customer service,,,it’s hard to deflect and to navigate without being defensive - it’s an art.

Paper thin walls...

wasnt expecting much from this motel other than a decent nights sleep but impossible due to thin walls and inconsiderate guests making noise from 4am onwards. Police arrived to arrest someone late evening didnt help!

Oh boy!

Considering that this hotel charges about $130 CDN per night you would think they would put some of that back onto the business. For example, new beds, new sheets, carpets and a general fixing up of the hotel would be a great start. Honestly, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Just because this hotel is at end of the road where there are not many options is no excuse to let the place slowly crumble while continuing to charge it out at $130 per night.
