Just back from the annual Dreyer Farms dinner in the field. From cocktails to tuna poke appetizer through the two entrees (Faroe Island Salmon and Angus Beef Filet) and dessert (dark chocolate & caramel mousse torte) everything was suburb. Chef Scott Snyder and his staff really hit one out of the park! The food combined with great wine, good weather and fun company for a perfect evening.
When can I sign up for next year?

Brought a friend here for lunch - service was great, food selections & portions were great! I got the adult Mac n cheese-filled with bacon, broccoli & a creamy white sauce- delicious. My friend had a lobster sandwich which she said was very good- we both brought 1/2 Home. The one downfall is that because it was lunchtime, it was pretty crowded with business folks & was noisy- it settled down once food was brought - a very welcoming place to visit

First the good . . . THE FOOD. We started with the some kind of Spanish bean and potato soup, which was very tasty. We each ordered paella, one order of Paella Valencia, and one of Paella Marinera. The portions were large, and the paella delicious.
Now the not so good. The dining room is one big room, jammed with as many tables, chairs and people as they can possible fit. The have tried muting the noise in the room by covering two walls with sound-deadening material, but it's still very loud, very crowded, and has zero ambiance. Second, service is slow at best. Third, it's grossly overpriced considering the slow service and the loud cramped dining conditions. Too bad, because the food is good enough to command the high price ($100 for two of us, without any liquor), but not in such a pedestrian environment.

There are so many interesting and creative flavors to choose from here, but the only one you really need is the mint chip. Vanilla bean makes the best home made mint chip ever. It is creamy and simply perfect. The ice cream sandwiches are nice to take home to have in the freezer. It's a treat to come out and support this local small business whenever the ice cream craving strikes!

We went here last night (Friday) with 4 adults and 6 kids. Waited and 1 hour and 10 minutes to receive our Entrees. After 45-50 minutes, we asked them what was taking so long and they said that they were very busy and because we...MoreTravellingRealtor, Our small family business....thanks you for taking the time to write a review.... All the food here is heavenly. We try to go in "off peak" hours, to avoid long waits for a table. (BYOB). Everything is wonderful -- pastas, pizzas, salads and sandwiches. Among our favorites are the wild mushroom ravioli with garlic, rosemary sauce, all the pizzas (fresh ingredients and a "lightness" which is uncharacteristic of NJ pizzas which are overloaded with cheese), all the salads (our favorites are the beet salad and the kale Caesar), and the mortadella and mozzarella sandwich. A small restaurant in the popular downtown area of Maplewood, so plan your arrival strategically.

This is one of the best bakeries in Central New Jersey. The go to place for many residents for every day needs, special events and the holidays. Well prepared cakes, pies and cookies. Can get very crowded on the holiday weeks and best to order ahead as popular items sell out quickly. A couple soft points, service can be inconsistent as they employee lots of people and some are more helpful than others, parking is limited so can be difficult to park close. Finally after spending an hour speaking in person with them they didn't deliver the special order cake as requested.

I visitied this Italian bakery/pastry shop for the first time a week before Thanksgiving. Everything looked great so I ordered a large pumpkin pie and 24 small cannoli
to take to my son's home for Thanksgiving desert. They are open until 2:00 on Thanksgiving so I was able to pickup my order that morning.
Everything was great! My son, who ordinarily doesn't eat pumpkin pie wanted a whole slice after his wife got him to taste it. He had that it was the best pumpkin pie he had ever eaten. The cannoli were of equal quality.
My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter loved her chocolate covered one and her grandparents (my daughter-in-law's parents) raved about the plain one. Everyone was happy! . . . . . . . Especially me! I tried some of everything. I went back a week later and got a small pumpkin pie for myself. It was just as good.
They have a full array of Italian pasteries. Well worth a visit.
I'll be returning.

I have been to La Griglia many times and it is always terrific. Last night my husband and I went for dinner and it was a fantastic dining experience.
The service was exceptional - friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
The food was outstanding as well - my husband had oysters and then the special bone-in filet mignon, and I had the amazing burrata appetizer and the halibut special. Both the filet and halibut specials were so good, I hope they add them to the menu!
The ambiance in the restaurant is on the fancy side but not stuffy, which makes it feel like a special occasion when you eat there.
Convenient location in Kenilworth, right off the Parkway. Valet parking and coat check also convenient.
Overall a wonderful restaurant - I highly recommend La Griglia!
