Lack of customer service

Reviewed By OnAir19301790765

The is the nicest hotel in Kenia but I was very disappointed in the lack of customer service. I travel here to visit with my grandkids. I needed to do laundry and asked the front desk is they had quarters. I was told they didn’t have any so I went to Several different places trying to get quarters. My daughter stopped by the hotel and I asked her if she had any quarters. A guest over heard me and said they have them at the desk. I said they told me they didn’t have quarters to Exchange for guest. The lady working the desk said we didn’t have them over the weekend but yes we do. I told her that is not how it was told to me. The next issue I had with them was that wouldn’t service my room in the 8-9 days I was here. I asked them when would they service my room and I was told because of Covid they wasn’t serving rooms. A few days later they posted a notice that maintenance needed to get in all the room because they were cleaning the outside windows and had to get the screens off. I told them that I had an issue with them saying they can’t service my room but they can clean the windows. Nice clean rooms when you check in but customer service lacking.

Very comfortable.

Reviewed By H7937SSgloriad

We rented two rooms for four of us - the queen one was a fairly small room, but was quite comfortable. Beds were some of the most comfortable I've slept on. The other room was a king size and it was a nice size and had a table and kitchenette. I would give them an A plus for cleanliness. Outside wasn't as appealing as some places, but still ok. Looked like they had a place outdoors for campfire, but we didn't utilize that. Had contactless check in with keypad entry for doors.

Very nice small hotel.

Reviewed By John H

Our room was small but quite nice. This is an older hotel, but very well maintained. The woodwork and tile were beautiful. There were a few minor issues. The toilet and shower head could use some work. Our room was very comfortable and had a refrigerator and microwave. Staff were very pleasant, prices reasonable, and the adjoining restaurant Louie's) is very good.

Stayed here while working in the area, no complaints, good breakfast, clean rooms. Would stay here again. Customer service was good, easy to book, parking lot was large and well-lit, and it is clear they are used to hosting people that travel for work.

Attention first responders

Reviewed By MrsChiefN

I am the widow of a firefighter and legally disabled. I booked the cannery lodge months ago, received a confirmation and reminder, and even called to confirm our stay the day before our arrival. Upon arrival they were expecting us, acknowledged they had us on the books, and then said they booked the whole lodge to another party - SO we were turned away and literally laughed at when this lodge double booked us. Every hotel is booked. They told us we could call the Quality Inn. Seriously. Don’t give them a dime.

Not my type of B&B

Reviewed By Vidya K

This is not my cup of tea at all. All you get is a room in someone's basement with kitchen facilities. No home cooked breakfast like you expect from a B&B. The cleanliness of the place is not that great. The toilet seat is broken. The whole atmosphere is very dingy looking. As soon as were shown the place, I wanted to leave but it was too late to go anyplace else. Thankfully the owner was flexible for us to move out after one night vs the 2 we had reserved for, but even if not I would not have stayed there another day. Kitchen facilities are available to you if you want to make your own breakfast but I am not looking to cook my own breakfast while on vacation. There was a box of "muffins" from the store provided but that was it! The yoghurt in the refrigerator was at least 6 months past due date. There were some fresh fruits that were left for us. That's the only thing we helped ourselves to. We are breakfast at a local restaurant. We stayed in 4 B&Bs during our recent stay in Alaska and this was the only B&B I would not go back to. Second most expensive at offseason rate of $90 per night with little to no customer service. The other two B&Bs we stayed at were cheaper than this one located downtown Anchorage (85) and Seward (75) and both earned 5 stars from me.

This Place is Great!

Reviewed By dorianb830

This was a great experience. I have never done a “Fishing Trip” and I cannot express how great this place was. First of all I met Terry at the Phoenix Barrett Jackson show. Such a nice guy and he explained how everything worked. I got a group of guys together and booked a 5 day 4 night stay. The fishing was awesome. The guides they choose for us were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We caught over 200lbs of fish! The food at Salmon Catcher Lodge was superb. There chefs and kitchen staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had packed lunches for our fishing trips, and if needed hot grab and go breakfasts for our early morning guided trips. Dinners were like at a 5 star restaurant. From the salads to the deserts everything was great. Terry’s wife Angie was great very sweet and helpful from the booking process, fishing tour set up to check out. Nick and his wife were great as well. The cabins were great and head everything we needed and have the true “lodge” feel I would highly recommend Salmon Catcher Lodge. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Wonderful landing point

Reviewed By Sase117

Okay...this review is long over-due. However, when my husband and I were here, trip advisor was not as prevalent. I left the review in the book, so an online review is well deserved after all of these years. In 2003, my then-boyfriend asked me if I wanted to go to Alaska after we watched a movie featuring the 49th state. We literally counted up his 'coin' savings and booked our trip. We were in Alaska, adventuring in the Kenai peninsula, for eight days. We had been picked up from Anchorage from a friend who had just moved to Soldotna. They dropped as at the Kenai airport to get our rental car. We have traveled all over the United States, but Alaska was and still is our favorite trip. We stayed at a horrible little B&B for four days, then went on to the Little Red Cabin for the last four days of our trip. Here we are, 18 years later, and we both still talk about it. I remember our hosts, John and Jacquie. They were recently married, and we were one of their first set of guests. They were wonderful. As I see some people talk about disappointment with this stay, there is no way that their heart of hospitality wavered. We wish we would have stayed there the entire time. When we arrived, it was very late, as these two midwesterns were using every bit of Alaskan summer daylight to explore. The porch light was on, and there was smoked salmon in the fridge. We were not sure if it was for supper (at 2 am!!) or breakfast. There was fruit, bagels, cream cheese, a little thing of milk, cereal, coffee, etc. I remember the cabin and hospitality so well, because it was the perfect landing spot. We were easily able to travel to Homer for one day, Seward the next--with every other excursion in between. The cabin had a loft bedroom, which was great to store our luggage underneath. We both thought the shower was amazing and built extra special. It was a very small space, but much larger than what a hotel room would be. The bed was comfortable, the space was nice. The entire property was beautiful. The dogs were crazy good, following us, greeting us, accompanying us every trek we took, which we loved. John & Jacquie asked us the last night of our stay if we wanted to go halibut fishing early the next morning. It is our greatest regret. We really should have moved our flight. It was the following evening, but we had to return the rental car, catch our ride to Anchorage....yadi, yadi, yadi. We should have made it happen. They were the most gracious hosts we have ever had. I cannot say enough niceties about the hosts, their property, their little cabin, and the overall experience. We stayed in the cabin with the glassed in porch, and we would absolutely do it again. We've been married nearly 17 years, and we talk of the day we go back with our teenage sons!
