Ednam House sits on the banks of the River Tweed, enveloped by three acres of enchanting gardens. A spacious, stately mansion dating back to 1761 with a home-from-home atmosphere, it’s the ideal spot to recharge mind and body and soak up the best of the Borders. With the convenience of a town centre location, and the tranquillity and atmosphere of a country house residence, Ednam House, like the area it occupies, offers something for everyone.
Great to revisit, wonderfully tranquil riverside location, a very warm reception and excellent service and food throughout our stay. Wonderful room with superb view of heron and oyster catchers, not to mention the swans going about their daily business.

SCHLOSS Roxburghe is an exceptional country house estate with a Championship Golf Course and a range of outdoor activities, nestled in the beautiful Scottish Borders but little more than an hour's drive from both Edinburgh and Newcastle. This elegant property includes 20 bedrooms and suites, many of which are located within the historic house. Cuisine is top quality and varied, with an emphasis on fresh, home-grown produce. There are numerous cosy bars with roaring log fires for leisurely drinks, and the Spa, set to open in the near future, promises to be a first-class wellbeing destination. The charming country house has been enhanced by an extensive and tasteful refurbishment with further plans for a separate extension to feature 58 additional rooms, a luxurious spa and state-of-the-art meeting space.
Lovely hotel with beautifully furnished rooms, lovely restaurant. They also have an excellent golf course. If you are playing golf I would recommend the courtyard room as good for the course. They are also adding a swimming pool, gym, spa and function room

The Cross Keys provides a warm and friendly welcome to its guests and excellent service from attentive, friendly staff. The hotel is an ideal centre for business or pleasure situated in a peaceful corner of Scotland, yet still within easy reach of Edinburgh and Newcastle. The hotel is in the heart of Kelso’s picturesque French-styled cobbled square. The present hotel was built in 1769, but in other forms, a Cross Keys Hotel has occupied the site since the earliest days of Scottish Coaching Inns. Today, the hotel provides a comfortable and convenient base to explore all that Kelso and the Scottish Borders has to offer. So, whether it's a relaxing break or an action-packed holiday that you are looking for, the Cross Keys can be enjoyed by all.
Just back from lunch at this lovely hotel. We were having a wander round Kelso and in one of the shoe shops we had asked an assistant if she could recommend some where nice for lunch. She recommended the cross keys hotel and what a recommendation. It was lovely the decor fresh and bright and the food was ? we had fish and chips and steak and ale pie with chips followed by 2 lovely sweets. The price was excellent and well worth a visit if you are in the area. A special mention to Christine and Amy they were brilliant and the hotel have done well in securing their services. Christine was a delight to chat with and made the experience that little more special. We would give the hotel a big 10/10 and we will most certainly be back for second helpings????regards Joe and Charlotte

Have eaten here twice during our visit to Kelso. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The bar, restaurant and toilets are all immaculately clean. Menu offers a good choice with all food being freshly prepared. Portions are large and reasonably priced.

I was in room 5 which is in the attic as mentioned in other reviews. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. It was good to have a kettle and microwave in the room (toaster too) for the morning. The guesthouse is in the centre of the town so I guess it could be noisy at the weekends but no problem mid week - I slept very well. Self checkin/out was straightforward

On our first visit to Kelso the bar in the Black Swan really hit the spot. I suppose it was because it was a quiet night, pre-Covid, and the close banter in the bar was lovely. On this occasion, the pub was busier and, because you have to stay at tables, the close contact between punters was missing. The Black Swan is still a perfectly fine, ordinary boozer and the service was very good. I would suggest however that they need to get better glasses for half pints of lager. My pints were fine, but my wife’s half-pints were consistently dead.

The Old Priory is a gem of a house half in 1796, when it was built, and half in the modern world. We straddle the gap between Woodmarket and the old world of Abbey Row which houses Kelso Abbey. The aim is for us to provide comfort at a reasonable price, atmosphere and charm as befits the age of our home. Our Sitting Room overlooks the Old Parish Church and garden, our Family Suite is two rooms and can be used in a varity of ways.
Right in the middle of the town so it's easy to find your way around and the B& B itself is very comfortable. I had a room on the ground floor - it was spacious with 2 armchairs and a foot rest, lovely en-suite bathroom. The bed was really comfortable and with beautiful bedding; I slept really well and without backache (unusual for me) There was a good selection of teas and coffee - also hot chocolate, and a selection of biscuits, and altogether, I was very happy with my room. The cooked breakfast really nice and with a good selection of breads, fruit and home-made jams. Robin was a friendly and helpful host - also very knowledgeable about the area and in our rooms we had a folder with information about our stay, the area and things to do etc. A nice touch was the bookshelves near the entrance for the guests to use. It was filled with books and a notice saying the books had all been read and so feel free to take your book home with you if you haven't finished reading it. An enjoyable stay and I would definitely stay there again.

Pemberley Bed and Breakfast is here to offer you a memorable and relaxing stay in the rural Scottish borders town of Kelso. Pemberley is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac and enjoys glimpses of Floors Castle estate and is run by Janet, who previously ran Tara Bed & Breakfast.
Conveniently situated in a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the delightful Borders town of Kelso. I stayed at Pemberley B&B for two nights, single occupancy, in a twin bedded room on the first floor. On arrival, the owner informed me the third party website through which I had made the last minute booking had misquoted the nightly rate but, in the circumstances, the website had agreed to compensate her for the shortfall. Aside of this slightly embarrassing issue, which was in no way the fault of the owner, I found Janet welcoming and courteous. The twin room is a good size. It's decor is modern and light and both it and the en suite bathroom were spotlessly clean. Two bedside units plus a chest of draws which accommodates the hot drink making facilities. A wall mounted flat screen TV and free WiFi with a strong signal. Toiletries, a hair drier and hair straighteners, and a heated towel rail are provided in the private bathroom. The single beds are very comfortable and have good quality bedding. Central heating plus a portable electric heater. Breakfast is served between 0730-0930 hours and needs to be pre-ordered by 2100 hours the previous evening. The food is of a high standard and is nicely presented. A range of five cereals plus fruit juice, fruit segments, brown or white toast, a full Scottish breakfast with condiments and tea/coffee is offered. I found Janet to be an excellent hostess. She is friendly and amenable yet professional and non intrusive. I felt comfortable and welcome.

Peace. Beauty. Effortless hospitality. It is hard to describe why staying here has such a magical quality, because Christine has the gift to put all the little things together to fall into perfect place. The beauty of the old house is enhanced by the lovely furniture and decoration. Breakfast is just subtly different from anywhere else, as if it was quietly prepared with personal care, especially for you. The cows in the meadow add another dimension of tranquility. We also enjoyed the lovely towns all around the area and many historic sites.
