Kaunas (/ˈkaʊnəs/; Lithuanian: [ˈkɐʊˑnɐs] ( listen); also see other names) is the second-largest city in Lithuania and has historically been a leading centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. Kaunas was the biggest city and the centre of a county in Trakai Municipality of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania since 1413. In the Russian Empire, it was the capital of the Kaunas Governorate from 1843 to 1915. It served as temporary capital of Lithuania during the interwar period, while the traditional capital of Vilnius was part of Poland between 1920 and 1939. During that period Kaunas has been nicknamed the Little Paris because of rich cultural and academic life, fashion, construction of countless Art Deco, Lithuanian National Romanticism architectural style buildings as well as popular furniture, interior design of the time and widespread café culture. The city interwar architecture is regarded as one of the finest examples of the European Art Deco and received the European Heritage Label, it also resulted in naming Kaunas the first city in Central and Eastern Europe as a UNESCO City of Design. In 2022, Kaunas will be the European Capital of Culture, together with the Luxembourgish city of Esch-sur-Alzette.

Cool place to have beers or other drinks. The terrace is spaceous and is good for rainy days or a mild summer evening. Chips are homemade, delicious and go perfectly with beers. The food is also not bad at all. However it's not a restaurant but a cultural place. A gallery café so to say.

Terrible service, we left after 15 minutes of waitresses ignoring us and not letting us know if we will get a table or not. I will not try to go there again and will not recommend it to my friends

15 people reserved a table with prepayement. When we came to the restaurant, a security did not one of us come in saying "You wont come in here today". The person was nice and sober. Cant imagine what was the reason. Because of such situation we all had to get out and look after another restaurant to spend time. Dont recomend!

Loved this tiny bar! Lots of craft ale and beer, extremely friendly and welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere. All the guests seemed friendly and in a good mood, and the beer was super! The staff had a lot of knowledge on what they were serving and gave really good recommendations. Would love to return next time in Kaunas!

We three middle aged British guys are on a three week tour of the Baltic States, ten years after our original tour to see the changes.After a late Wednesday meal on Skliautanas we left at 23.30 and most of the Main drag bars were closing. We headed off the drag towards the river and found this cider bar. We do not like cider but hoped beer would be sold too.We peered into the cellar bar through the windows, it appeared empty. Someone left into the street and I asked if it was busy, he said yes people were in. We entered timidly as a group left and yes there were people. The guy we asked came back in and went behind the bar.I asked about the beers, four on draught and a few bottles, great. Stout included. Prices a bit more than usual. We ordered a draught kriek (â¬2.5), draught white/wheat (â¬2.5) and a bottled stout (â¬2.7). I asked if they were 33cl and the guy said yes.To our surprise they came and they were 400cl and the stout was 500cl! We were happy. Kick boxing in the large HD LED and quiet easy music aided the conversation.All in a good late night hangout with youngish crowd. We left at 12:30 quite happy.

We Went bere for dinner. We choose 2 soupa super tasty. Bruschetta and super good fried bread. Better meal lithuanian potatos with mushroom. Good also tortilla.With 2 big beers we payd only 29 â¬.But blond waiter with glasses was super rude.
