It’s quirky and unusual but worth a visit. This unpretentious pub delivers a fun atmosphere and pub food. We enjoyed gammon steak which is a rare treat in NZ. Other treats include carpet bag steak and mouthwatering pizzas.
The service was enthusiastic not necessarily good but you have to love the friendliness. Inside is a child free area a child friendly area and beer garden. We will be back. It might become our regular.

we stopped in for lunch on a recent road trip and we pleasantly surprised. Very tasty, well prepared and at a reasonable price. The service was excellent. Highly recommended.

If you happen to be at the bird Gardens and you haven't brought your own picnic with you, then this cafe is perfectly adequate. In future, though, I would probably eat elsewhere before visiting the Gardens as the choices were few and the food itself was very basic. Service was also a bit robotic and not particularly friendly. $20 got us a Devonshire tea (a tick for real clotted cream, a cross for the tea bag and hot water), a hot chocolate, and a simple panini without a side salad. They also sell waffles, sandwiches, muffins, cakes, hotdogs, etc. All items appear to be made 'fresh' in the kitchen after you have ordered as there was no food on display in the cabinet.

Sunday Brunch.. Orders for Fish & Chips at $12 each and one Prawn Salad for $15 were placed with a friendly, efficient staff member at the counter. We were shown to a table next to a window overlooking the beautifully maintained grounds of the Fairview Golf Course.
A hot pot of tea and cold drinks was delivered to our table quickly & was promptly followed by our meals. Meals were absolutely delicious & the salad was the tastiest I've had in quite a while! We appreciated the lovely, clean surroundings (carpet may have seen better days though!) friendly & efficient waitresses & prompt service.
We will definitely look forward to dining here again.

Cafe Viva is an owner owned business in Katikati! It is not a Restaurant but a Cafe! We specialized in home make food and cake slices. We serve the famous Atomic coffee beans. We support fair trade, eggs are free range! We serve light meals, breakfasts etc. We are known as the place where the 'locals eat'. Our kitchen close every weekday from Monday till Friday at 13:45. Our menu is very clear! Part and parcel of our slices and food includes Gluten Free food!
My husband decided today that we would have lunch out as we had business to do around the town. I can only say that he loved the food he ordered, (pancakes, bacon, banana, maple syrup and lashings of whipped cream on the side.. He has it often when we are out for brunch and he reckons this was one of the best. I had a delightful dish, on a toasted base, there was lettuce, bacon, mushrooms and feta. It was lovely, all came together with the sauce used. (wish i knew what it was). Highly recommend cafe viva , and nice to find a place with outside tables, where we could be far enough from the other diners to have a quiet cigarette without upsetting the politically correct brigade. Thanks Cafe viva, we dont live far,, so will be back.

Stopped in a for takeaway coffee. Chose Robert Harris for its overall reputation, but was very dissapointed with this one. The coffee was bitter. The ladies bathroom was dirty, there is no rubbish bin inside the toilet (but is in the hallway), and the sanitary bin had no closing lid, which made for an unpleasant smell and scene. I spoke to the staff, just in case they were unaware, but they didnt seem interested.
The lady that took our order was very plesant asking about our day and wishing us well when we left, which was quite thoughtful.

We visited this restaurant and ordered takeaway butter chicken. It was the worst butter chicken of my life. It was so flavourless. It was like chicken in an orange coloured milk with no other flavour. Very disappointed. Also they don't take credit card. What sort of restaurant doesn't take credit card?

A very clean and nice little cafe with a ton of choices to select from. They offer a huge number of cakes and slices and really really good pies plus sandwiches and more. Very good coffee and such nice smiley service. We chose a slice to share plus meat pies with our coffees. All were fresh and yum! Terrific cafe!
