Recently my wife and I wanted to celebrate our 52nd Anniversary (!) and we chose LongHorn Steakhouse This has become our go-to restaurant when we want good steak. They have a call-ahead feature, so the wait wasn't too long (even though this restaurant is very popular), the service was very good, and the steak is always tender and tasty. We've never had a bad experience here. A great place to celebrate!

Hereford House is one of the finest steak houses in the United States. The Hereford House provides incredible food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere.
Visited again last week to devour lunch with wife and three year old granddaughter. My wife had beef stroganoff which she described as very good, my granddaughter had the kids mac and cheese while i had the steak medallions. My wife and granddaughter found the servings to be too big for them and had another meal with some of the left overs. My granddaughter had included a side of mashed potatoes which I would up eating as an accompaniment to my steak and salad. The steak was cooked to perfection. Our waitress provided just the right amount of service, especially to our granddaughter.

This was our fourth or fifth visit - we live a half an hour away and purposely drove here for dinner. In KC you have excellent choices for dinner, but most are packed and noisy on the weekend. So we thought we'd have a quality quiet KC dinner. First the atmosphere was perfect. Clean. Quiet. And what we'd been accustomed to. The service was slow and needed a bit of prompting; a course was served without silverware bc they do clear a utensil once you use it, so that can be overlooked, and our server just seemed to forget things at each table. But that didn't ruin the evening. The good is usually excellent. This visit a shade below excellent. Just a shade. I ordered the halibut, it was the nights special and it was so tough on the ends I literally couldn't chew it. I didn't want to wait for another one to be cooked so I ate the inside which was GREAT! My husband ordered the seafood pasta bc of medical procedures he can't swallow steak, thinking the pasta would be an option. The sauce and pasta had a sticky consistency that made it unappealing, so he pushed it aside and ate the seafood because it was cooked well, slightly too much, but ok. For dessert I ordered the panna cotta. The server said, "Were out," I thought ok five things left on the dessert menu. "I'll take the crime brulet then", to which she said, "Were out." Ok. So three things left for dessert. I tried the sorbet. Slightly sweet but tasty. And my husband had the "brownie" which was more like a spongy baby bundt cake. Does all this sound negative? Why four stars?Because this place has a quiet lovely quiet atmosphere. They really do try, it's just maybe seafood isn't their thing Stick to beef and definitely try the craft cocktails. Only order dessert if you think desserts at franchise restaurants rock. You will love it here if you drink, sit awhile and order beef. Hello, We appreciate your detailed feedback. We will make sure our Chef is informed of your dining experience. If you would like to speak with a manager please leave your contact information at [email protected]

Barley's Kitchen + Tap opened its doors in 1995 with its first location in Overland Park. Micro brews, macro brews, and imports from all corners of the globe make up our impressive selection of beer that we offer on tap (not to mention the bottled favorit
We decided to sit at the bar which was our first mistake. My husband order beer and after trying to order 2 different drinks that are a staple at any other bar I was told that the bartender didn't know the first one and that he had no sambuca for the second one. No problem, my next choice was o.k. After reading the specials and being ignored. Our bartender decided to have a conversation with another employee from one end of the bar to the other about his frozen balls, yes you are reading this correctly. If that wasn't off putting enough, my husband asked him to refrain from speaking about his blue balls, yes another direct quote, he told him that we do not have a choice in the matter and that his conversation wasn't really relevant to us. I proceeded to speak to the manager about this, which was our second mistake of the evening. Even though he apologized to us for the behavior of the bartender I got the feeling was being patronized and nothing will be done about this. We payed our bill and left. Conversation like this among employees has no place in a restaurant that supposedly prides its self as being a family oriented establishment. I am palled by this.Hi Sabine! Oh no! we're sorry to see this 1 star review, this is certainly not how we intend to treat our guests. We take reviews very seriously and address each one. If you have time to discuss further, please email [email protected] - truly sorry again.
