The year was 1855 and 21 year old B.W. Woodward arrived in Lawrence, Kansas. A key figure in the Free State cause, B.W. rebuilt his pharmacy after Quantrill's raid at 801 Massachusetts. In 1914, Eyth and Varnum took over the pharmacy until 1966. Tom Wilco
Nicely decorated, with an interesting mix of the old stone walls and modern fixtures. Food was good, but not amazing. I had the âEggs Your Wayâ, which consisted of eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast. It was good, but very salty. My husband had the salmon sandwich, which needed more salmon and less bread.

We came in the morning, we ordered an elevated egg sandwich which was very satisfactory as well as a sunrise granola bowl, very good too and oatmeals bowl which unfortunately was a little sweetened although I specifically asked it not to be sweetened for medical reasons. The kind waiter took it back and I was not charged for it. I like this breakfast place in general.

This treasure is tucked away in a strip mall....but donât let that fool you! Itâs well worth the stop. Food and service were both outstanding!! Meals are reasonably priced. Servers bring out a small portion of fries upon arrival to allow patrons to experience all of the sauce options ahead of time! That was a welcome surprise for our kids. Highly recommended.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times with no problems. Our last visit was with two other couples for breakfast and we were sorely disappointed. Our guests had biscuits and gravy. Biscuits were dry, and the gravy was cold and had no sausage. Our guests chose not to order anything else. Manager was courteous and did not charge either guest for their poor quality food.

We spent a couple of hours during a hot Monday afternoon, drinking wine and ordering several plates to share. Our server was great and attentive. The Brussels sprouts are outstanding! The former bank building is so interesting! We hope to return some day. Oh, and the goat cheese-cheesecake...YUM!

Canât wait to go back. We really loved our sandwiches. The homemade rolls are just right to hold but not compete with the filling. My only gentle suggestion for the restaurant is...the wool crewel and needlepoint pictures hold dust esp in a place with lots of frying and oil. The picture over our table had tufts of dust hanging on and the idea of it floating down into our food was ever present in my mind as I ate my fabulous sandwich. Weâve decided to eat outside next time but wish it wasnât an issue since the food was great, reasonably priced and the people were really nice

Since 2009...award winning, locally owned and operated downtown restaurant featuring inspired handmade food, inventive cocktails and an extensive wine list.
While traveling across country on I-70 we stopped in Lawrence for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is on the north end of the center of action in Lawrence, and easily gotten to from I-70 / Kansas Turnpike or if traveling across on KS 10 and easy drive up Massacheusetts St. The setting is a narrow store space that is nicely appointed including a stone wall that we assume is from part of an old building. Servers and other staff are friendly and attentive. (Kudos to Sarah for her recommendations.) The food was very good and well presented, with a brunch menu that offered a better variety of alternatives than most brunches. We were told that many of the dishes were from local providers and prepared in house. We were able to have a very good bottle of wine, and the wine selection is decent. If every passing through Lawrence at a meal time, we will again stop here to eat.

First time at restaurant and didn't know the procedure and had to wait for waitress to come over. It's get your own coffee but after that the server will take your order and bring your food. Server was "accommodating". Bk was good but potatoes could have been cooked more. Sausage had a good flavor.

My daughter had the Artichoke Tomato Tortellini & I had the Sonoma Shrimp Fettuccine. We both really liked our food, although my dish ended up being a little more unhealthy that I anticipated;) Unfortunately, it was so loud that it was a little hard to hold a conversation (a Thursday evening around 6 PM). I also did not enjoy walking through cigarette smoke to enter & leave the restaurant, but it just may be something I have to get used to when visiting Lawrence?

Yesterday, my wife and I dined at Limestone. We split two pizzas. One was the Margarita with homemade Mozzarella and the other one was a Margarita with pepperoni. The crust was so crispy and feather light making the pizza outstanding. Also, the sauce was tangy having just the right amount of spice. The pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven at 750 degrees for a minute and a half. The taste is incredible. I have eaten pizza many times in Italy and the Limestone would rival any of these. Indeed, this is high praise but richly deserved. You must dine at Limestone.
