I've never stayed such a terrible hotel ever. As I heard that this is a No1 hotel in Tsuwano,I chose this hotel. The room was very old, small, damp and dirty. I saw several cockroaches in my room and I got a tick bite there. The furniture in the room was so old and spooky. It was not worth the price, 9800JPN! Too expensive! It was said that this hotel had big bath with onsen. But the water smelled a kind of chlorine. I advice not to stay this hotel.

Stayed in a traditional Japanese 1 room accommodation with shared bathroom and shower/bath. Owners very welcoming and helpful. The owner lady spoke virtually no English and we can speak virtually no Japanese, but we got by with lots of hand signals! Accommodation very clean and tidy. We had half board and did not regret this as the quality and quantity of traditional Japanese food on offer was exceptional. Dish after dish after dish kept being brought to the table. Fish, meat, vegetables, pickles, miso, rice, sweets all prepared and presented beautifully. Strict times for bathing at the inn and we used the Onsen about a 10-minute drive away. The owner of the inn gave us a discount voucher for the onsen. If you have never experienced an onsen then this would be a great place to start. Just read upon onsen etiquette and prepare for nude bathing. Indulging in this Japanese pastime can become addictive! So, in summary; lovely, good value accommodation with excellent traditional Japanese food.

A small hotel in a small tourist town near the train station. For a business hotel the room was slightly larger, we had an end room with 2 large windows. It was spotlessly clean. The building has only 2 floors. Parking on site. Breakfast was included. The wifi in our room was not good, dropping in and out. But we sat in the breakfast room to use the Internet. There are plenty of meal choices within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel.

It was a lovely surprise to be met at the train station as the young woman from Hoshi Ryokan was very patiently waiting for me as I had taken my time lugging my suitcase up the stairs from the platform to the cross over and down the stairs to the small station building. As others have said the location is so close to the station (1 minute) and within walking distance to many of the sites in Tsuwano. The spacious tatami rooms were upstairs but assistance with my suitcase was provided. The room was not ensuite but I had no problems accessing the toilets and washbasins upstairs or downstairs bathroom. The breakfast was excellent and wifi was available in the room. I received advice and suggestions for attractions and restaurants in English (and there were English maps and pamphlets in the room) and small gifts when leaving. A very pleasant and relaxing stay.

We should stay here for two nights but strandet on our way to the Tsuwano town , because of heavy rainfall trains and busses did not drive anymore , we contacted our travelagency to report this , the answer we received from Haradaya was that we could have taken a taxi ( 3,5 hr ride ) there was no refund possible , on the news was pronounced that a lot of people had to be evacuated from Tsuwano . This reaction really upset us what a bad un Japanese experience !!!

The minshuku is located a good walk from the railway station but the very helpful owner will pick up and drop off - just ask the tourist office at the station to contact her. She is helpful in other ways too: she dried my sopping clothes when I came in cold and wet and had a hot bath waiting - bliss! The facilities are spotlessly clean, the futon comfortable to sleep on, and the location quiet. Despite a notice implying that meals were provided, none was offered to me; probably too much trouble to cook for a lone guest. Instead she gave me a lift to one of the few restaurants in town for dinner.

ご夫妻でしておられとても感じの良いこじんまりとしたオーベルジュです。 津和野の町を見渡せる高台にあって朝はウグイスのなき声で起こされました。又違った季節にうかがいたいとおもいます、。
