Very nice Japanese restaurant but not convenient without public transportation. But food is really nice and fresh. Perfect match with beer!
Where to eat Japanese food in Hiratsuka: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Well, this place is a few blocks from my house, and I have visited a half dozen times. It is a typical Japanese "family" restaurant, which serves a sometimes odd mix of Japanes and "western" comfort food. It is a casual coffe shop type diner. The menu is fairly extensive, and I think that most is prepared at a central kitchen somewhere, but that said it can be surprisingly tasty. It offers a refillable drink bar, which is rather rare in Japan. They offer a special menu, that changes with the seasons as well as a standard menu. The special menu can offer some surprising choices, which I have found to be very good. They recently offered a chicken curry that I really enjoyed. Not quite Indian, but close. The drawback is that the portions are small for a 220lbs foreigner, and the prices are on the high end of the casual dining venues available in town. They do offer a large parking lot for those driving, which again is rare in Japan. If you find yourself in Hiratsuka, I can recommend this place as a safe bet to find something on the menu for everyone that will be better than average for such an establishment. Very casual.

What to do and see in Hiratsuka, Japan: The Best Places and Tips
This is a Swiss/German restaurant in the upscale area of town. It has been in business for a very long time. I first ate here some 20 years ago. It used to be quite good with an extensive menu. The décor is Swiss kitsch and has only 6 tables. Now to the present. I ate here last month and was shocked to see 1/4th of the menu items "crossed out". Although no longer available the owner clearly doesn't want to print new menus so he just crosses out items. Very tacky and cheap looking. The food is poor. I ate the weinerschnitzel. It was dry and over cooked. There was nothing served with the meat. I had to ask for some lemon to flavor it. The appetizer plate was some sliced salami and cheese on a bare plate. For the price very disappointing. Beer is almost $10 a 300ml glass. The climax to my experience was when I was refused a dessert order because my table was promised to a group due in 30 minutes........HUH?Although I used to consider this one of the few passable "foreign" restaurants in town I will not be back. It is expensive, and caters to the Japanese group party crowd who want the "exotic" experience of having fondue. I guess they stay in business for this purpose only as their other offerings are barely edible. I do NOT recommend this place
