Near the banks of Lake Victoria, Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is a lively city with a long history. Before the British, the city was the capital of the Buganda Kingdom, and remains so to this day. The city sits on several hills, each housing an important government or religious building. Kasubi Hill is the home of the Kasubi Tombs, a sacred burial ground of Buganda Kings. The Uganda Museum sits atop Kololo Hill, and features a hands-on collection of traditional musical instruments.

We spent a lovely weekend at the Villas. It was hard to believe we were in our home neighbourhood because it was so quiet and peaceful. Our rooms were attractive and comfortable and the grounds are beautiful. We even used the pool which was warm, clean and private. The animals were an added bonus. Highly recommend for a short or longer term stay in Muyenga, Kampala.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit for three days and had a wonderful experience wit great accommodation. This apartment hotel is well kept and the furnishing and layout was wonderful. The security for this hotel made us feel very safe as the guards were on their job around the click. Sara, the manager we dealt with from booking to check out a great person who met all our expect ions providing tips with local eateries to check out and even assist in arranging for us to have our COVID test that we needed for our departure. Thank you Sara ! Would highly reckoned those place and would defiantly stay there again in our next visit.

Boulevard Suites is a trendy accommodation brand located in the central business district of Kampala along Kampala Road opposite Posta. It offers a range of affordable and modern apartment categories ranging from Shared Apartments fully serviced to family Apartments suitable for business travelers looking for both short and long stay. The Apartments are along Kampala Road on Plot No.17/19. It has 39 Apartments in total including Shared Apartments, Two Bed Room Apartments, Family Apartments sitting on the 6th and 7th Floors. It also has one of the biggest and modern state of art gym in Kampala called City Gym which is seated on the 2nd floor.
I stayed a total of two weeks on the 7th floor of Boulevard Suites in November/December 2021. The two bedroom apartment suite was well furnished, making it convenient to cook light meals and enjoy pleasant nights. The location is within the CBD, allowing for easy access to Kampala city locations. The ongoing Covid-19 curfew was a dampener for night life, but the suites were comfortable enough to make up for the temporary halt to Kampala's vibrant nightlife. I am particularly grateful to Susan, the apartment cleaner, Joyce the supervisor, Rahul the operations manager as well as the male and female receptionists who were always ready to assist.

I was in Kampala for work, intending to stay at the Golf Course Apartments for 3 months. On checking in, I paid the first month up front. There were a couple of issues with my apartment when I checked in, which i was promised would be fixed in the coming days - in hindsight, I should have insisted to have it fixed immediately. The door to the bedroom could not close nor lock, and the safe did not work. On my third night, there was a break-in in my apartment. Thieves had climbed the building and entered through the balcony door, which was closed and locked when I went to bed. I would later find out that the thieves had broken into several single traveling foreigners' apartments that night, and that it was an inside job. Having not been able to lock the door to my bedroom and without a working safe, the thieves had complete free access to me and my belongings. We later found knives, scissors and other tools they had brought. Thank god no one got hurt. On realising the break-in, I ran out of the building to a large number of security guards standing in a group on the parking lot. Distressed, I told them repeatedly, that there had been a break-in but was only met with laughter - not the reaction I was hoping for! I proceeded to run to the reception to call the security officer in my organisation, so that they could help facilitate contact to the police etc. My own phone had gotten stolen, and i had to ask several times to borrow a phone - practically pleading the personal. Upon inspecting the premises, my organization's security personnel moved me out of the building, and the Golf Course Apartments have now been removed from our list of security approved accommodations in Kampala. All personal are advised to stay clear of this place. On the day, I was promised a full refund by the manager. However, actually obtaining the promised refund was a terribly tedious process, which took several months. My e-mails, messages and phone calls would go unanswered. To get through, I had to calll from a different number than my own. Clear sign they were screening and ignoring my calls. After a month of no progress, my organization's security personnel had to step in. They met with the owner in person, who promised a refund... Still nothing happened. Finally, after close to three months and god knows how many phone calls and e-mails I finally received the refund. However, it is clear that if I had just been a "normal" individual without the backing of a large organization, I would never have received the refund. It is worth mentioning, that the despite the terrible experience, the Golf Course Apartments still charged me for the couple of nights I had spent there, including the night of the break-in. They even charged me for the coffee and fruits I had ordered at their resultant on the morning after the break-in (the police investigation took hours!). I am warning everyone to stay clear of this place.

When i pulled up to the building in a taxi i thought i was in the wrong place. It looks like an office building and there is no sign that i saw. But security showed me to the office and they checked me in and took me up an elevator to my room. There are offices in the building but also apartments for short and long term rentals. My room was not fancy (not that i was expecting it to be) but it was spotless and comfortable. I liked that i had a kitchenette so i could make coffee and tea. There was a fridge and microwave. I couldn't figure out the TV but the wifi worked. The best things were the staff and the location. The women working there were so kind and helpful. And i liked that i could walk to shops, crafts markets, interesting areas, and countless restaurants. It was good value. If you want to meet fellow travelers, this wouldn't be a good place for that, but as a comfortable base in a good location that is budget friendly, it is great.
