Italian influenced menu with an ok selection to choose from. Good was ok but nothing special. Service was average as we had 4 different waiters that randomly tried to help us but there were long periods of no one showing up. We could sit outside and they made sure the heating was on and we felt comfortable what was nice! The place does the job and feeds you, but you should not expect anything special.

Party of six for a late brunch. A great menu selection in a pleasant environment. Relaxing atmosphere with soft music made for easy conversation. Huge portion of muscles in wine sauce. Looks delicious. Ribs were excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals. Last than five minute walk from Center city. Also very close to Kalmar castle.

The interior and place was lovely, very "hipsterish" and the menu looked good. However, once we had ordered, the dishes weree rather small and for example the rib-eye steak had a vast amount of extra fat on it which could not be eaten. All in all, quite disappointed after hearing from locals that the place is quite good. Of course, Kalmar is a small city but one would think that they would know better.Good morning Sir, First of all, thanks for your feedback! We really appreciate customer feedback as we always strive to become better and satisfy all our guests needs. We are sorry to hear about your experience here at Kallskänken. Sounds to us like you didn't get enough information regarding the menu and the food. Perhaps the staff that night were unexperienced and didn't have the knowledge needed about our food. We have a sirloin steak on our menu that is popular among our guests, but perhaps you got a bad piece, and this is a mistake from the kitchen. We do apologize for the inconvenienced caused and hope that you would like to come back another time if you visit Kalmar again. Best regards, Kallskänken, Kalmar.

I travel to Kalmar every two years or so and have eaten at Kallaren Kronan before. However, this time was indeed one for the memory books. The restaurant has always had atmosphere, ambience, good food, and good service. Only 3 out of 4 this time. It was a quiet evening & there were few other guests. My daughter, our guest, and I sat down at our table and met "The Waiter". He was young, tall, and handsome, with lots of wavy hair. We were to become quite familiar with his wavy hair. He handed us two menus. We indicated there were three of us. He checked to make sure this was accurate & then went off to find a third menu. He returned. I asked if we could see the wine menu. He ran his fingers through his wavy hair, left, & some time later returned with latter. I asked if the fishwas mild and he seem startled. Fingers through wavy hair again. He said he did notknow, but would ask. He returned and said he still was not sure about the fish. I told him I would take a chance,& ordered it. The two other entree orders were taken. My daughter ordered a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay & pointed to it on the wine list. He returned with a bottle of Kendall Jackson Cabernet. We explained that we had ordered the Chardonnay. More fingers through the wavy hair & a look of disbelief. He left with the bottle and about ten minutes later a waitress brought thecorrect bottle. She apologized for the delay & poured the wine. We waited for about20 minutes and the food was served by our waiter. I asked if we might have some bread. Again, a look of shock and hands in the hair. He returned with a basket of bread, let each of us have one item - and quickly whisked it away. He seemed concerned about returning to the table, but we finally got his attention and asked if we could order coffee and dessert. More hands through the hair. We were carefulnot to ask any questions about the dessert because he seemed ready to bolt out the front door. In all fairness to the restaurant, both food and wine were very good. In case there is concern about the waiter's ability to understand English, our guest was Swedish and orders were given in both English & Swedish. The young man seemedequally confused in both languages. I fully intend to return to Kallaren Kronan on my next visit. I am compelled to see if he's still there.

Amanda was super-helpful in this cosy subterranean bar on the site of an old brewery off one of main streets. Wonderful selection of bottled craft beers including the excellent local beer the Ãngöl Prima Lager 5% from Kalmar's Ãngö Kvartersbryggeri. There's an Oktoberfestlig Ãngöl Märzen, a stunning Oktoberfest/Märzen beer too.

After the incredible number of years in the industry is now making it known the chefs Helen & Jorgen comeback in Kalmar ! Despite Kalmar is one of Sweden's most restaurant dense cities, they felt that something was missing - a real meat tavern! This arous
We chose this restaurant because we were rather keen to eat steak and burgers. A special Thank you to the very helpful waitress Anna whom I spoke to prior to our arrival. She kindly reserved seats at a nice table for us. Upon entering the restaurant guests have the facility to hang their jackets in the main reception area. We were promptly seated. We initially shared our table with another couple who were having evening drinks but they left not long after we arrived which meant we had the whole table to ourselves. Usually I don't like sharing tables but on this occasion I overlooked that inconvenience. We had 3 different people serving us but the lady who we settled our bill with stood out. She was very helpful and welcoming. Her whole demeanour was very professional and attentive combined with an excellent flair of top notch customer service. The sort of waitress I am used to see in 5 star hotels and restaurants in London. Our steaks and burgers were a delightful affair and of good quality. The tasty chocolate mousse rounded off our meal rather well. We'll definitely dine here next time we visit Kalmar.Thank you for your kind words!Anna and Klara, the waitress at the end of your service hope to see you again soon.

Now the gates pitched to Kalmar Slott's new restaurant. It serves solid lunches , fabulous pastries, homemade bread and culinary experiences. During the day , our Matcafe open and it served both hot lunch , pastries and sandwiches. Read more here. Evening
This restaurant is located as you enter the castle through the draw bridge. It is easy to miss but don't. The husband (chef) and wife (server) are great. The food is delicious and the setting is beautiful. We had a late lunch and all 4 of us had the chef's suggestion, the white fish. I was a little apprehensive, but he told that if I didn't like it it would be no charge. All 4 of us had the fish and loved it. The wife was great. She was very nice and attentive. All in all this was a great late lunch and I highly recommend eating at Kalmar Slottsrestaurangen. The castle is also a great place to visit.

Place recommended by our hotel and person at the Tourist office. Made a booking. Arrived seated and given menus. Ordered drinks. We were asked about our order before the drinks arrived, felt very rushed. Ordered the salmon and plank steak. Arrived about 5 minutes later. Both were good, but not anything special. Decided against dessert as a large party was being seated as our meal was ending. Perhaps our expectations were too high but this place seemed, for the price, simply average.

Very attractive, small restaurant that appeared popular with locals. Service was slow. The turbot and pork entrees were just okay. The beef tartare was very good as was the potato side. The pork rinds were cardboard-like. The gruyere in pastry was tiny and extremely oniony. The wine was okay and beer good.
