Smedjan is located in a relaxing setting right by the water, only a 10 minute walk from the city. Experiance the beautiful view over Skeppsbroviken and Västervik while you enjoy a hot meal and something to drink after a long day in the sun, or why not a c

Very, very disappointing..Rude and RACIST staff.. Shame of you! I'll not recommended at all.. Restaurant is not only about food it's more about the way, how you treat others..
We have visited the Kulbacken Café and Restarang during the weak for nice lunches, impressive salad buffet and rich soups to very attractive prices.During Sunday afternoon you are offered coffee, tea or preferably hot chocolate with huge amounts of whipped cream, all made at the place. Very much recommendable. Not the least is the old house most charming reminding of old times way of building and of living.

We went for a "tapas" lunch. I had a baked potato with skagen , very nice skagen, the potato was too old, need fresher. My daughter had prawns in chili and garlic, was good but not excellent. A little to basic. They could make an effort with the tables and service as well as cutlery etc. Then it would be a really good place. Nice staff, however very occupied with there phones in the kitchen!!

Until the location in Tripadvisor has been corrected - please note that Restaurant Sjökanten really is located on the island of Hasselö, not in the city of VästervikOpen around June-August for lunch and dinner. Take ferry from either Västervik or Loftahammar (cash only) to Hasselö. 2,5Km from ferry-point to Restaurant Sjökanten (walk or rent bike at ferry-point). Charming little place with view over the sea. Outdoor seating - so choose a sunny day. Lunch buffet is 160,-SEK. and includes Several kinds of fish, salads, charcuterie, bread, dips, cheeses, fruit, coffee, sweats and lemonade. You can add beer or wine if you like. All is very tasteful and definitely worth the price and the trip there. Sitting and eating that wonderful food at the seaside was absolutely a vacation highlight. Highly re-commendable. A perfect way to combine Swedish skeargaard experience with excellent food. They also have an evening menu, but then you need to either arrive with own boat or use one of the accommodation possibilities on Hasselö.Â

Olaf could not have been more welcoming and the environment more beautiful, looking out onto the sunlit harbour. An outstanding selection of real ales including the Gotland Bryggeri Klosteröl wheat beer & Mariestads unfiltered lager. The staff are happy and great fun. Food portions were good and well presented with flair. The Veal, Rack of Lamb and Biff Hotel Rydberg (cubed fillet Beef with Roast potatoes) all noteworthy. Top stuff!

Very nice atmosphere. Their service is excellent. You get served promptly and there is a good selection of drinks and food. If you are vegetarian ask, they have alternatives that do not appear on the menu. Kind and polite staff. Highly recommended.Thank you!Welcome back.

There were five of us for dinner. My wife and I had talked about going to the restaurant for a few years but since they require a reservation and we usually bike or boat into town on the spur of the moment we'd never actually gone there. We knew that the place was probably one of the most expensive in town and also knew that the reviews were outstanding.Since my niece and nephew were taking me and my wife and my sister out we planned ahead and got a reservation.Boy were we disappointed ! My sister had the salmon and my niece had the perch ... neither finished their serving because it wasn't very good. I had the sirloin and loved the potatoes but the sirloin itself was pretty tough, if tasty. My nephew and wife had the wild boar and commented that it was nothing special, might as well have been any pork dish.We can't understand the discrepancy between the reviews and our experience. Very strange.
