A traditional newly built tavern named "TAVERN ZIOGAS(ΤÎÎÎΡÎΠΤÎÎ¥ ÎÎΩÎÎ)" in an excellent setting, with panoramic view to Meteora, on the backside, for delicious, traditional, local tastes .Tradition and experience of 40 years, that works, give very tasty
We were staying at Doupiani House for an overnight stay / visit to Meteora. This was a repeat visit to the area & we liked Kastraki just because it has excellent views up to Meteora and it lacks the hustle & bustle of Kalambaka which is a bit too commercial for our taste. We drove past Ziogas at about 8.00pm and noticed that there were quite a few people eating on the terrace and that there was space off road to park our hire car ( always useful in Greece where the number of dents in your vehicle seems to create a level of status!)We walked in through a side entrance and whilst we might otherwise have waited for someone to show us to a table, an old gentleman, half asleep yet transfixed by his swinging komboloi simply waved his hand in a gesture of " sit anywhere". We could hear Greek being spoken at a couple of tables which in our view tends to mean it is not a typical "built for tourists and serves Moussakas" type of place. Plates & crockery were simple which takes us back 20 years or so before eateries in larger places started to use linen tablecloths & slates ! We ordered stuffed Florina peppers & tzatziki followed by a lamb and a pork dish. We also ordered local wine which was extremely pleasant, served in a pyrex jug with 2 stumpy little glasses. The food was extremely good and very filling without being totally over the top & leaving us unable to sleep later ! ( something we have always tried to avoid) The staff were very pleasant and left us alone to eat our meal - unlike one of the local cats !Overall an extremely pleasant evening at a cost of a little over 40 Euros

Just at the entrance of the beautiful city of Kalambaka , and in the shadows of the impressive Meteora rocks and their monasteries , Dias (Zeus) made his tavern ,and all of you are welcome to come and have a great and relaxing time in it!

Thought the food was going to be better than what we received. Presentation was good. Taste was not so much! Ordered Mousaki and Souvlaki. The Souvlaki was very dry and tough meat. The Mousaki was tasteless. The person taking the orders is also the cook and cashier. Believe it or not, there were about 5 other tables with people eating. Not sure if they liked their food.

Traditional Greek tavern in Kastraki village, next to Meteora, with homemade cook food and variety of grill meats. In our warm welcoming place, we are waiting for you to taste our unique traditional delicacies and enjoy a great view of Meteora rocks.
I had this crazy idea to hop on a train from Athens to visit Meteora and my first stop once off that train (4 hours!) was Efrosino. A local told me that this was the place for Spanakopita and since I didn't have time for a sit-down meal, I grabbed some to go. SO. GOOD. Fresh, hot, tasty. If you find yourself in the area, then definitely stop by this place - they have a great terrace that I hope to make use of in the future!Thank you very much for your best wishes....we are making with the best vegetables and cheese all the pies...and the most important is that is every day fresh....i hope to see you again next summer thanks a lot!!!!!

Family run taverna with traditional greek kitchen in the oven. The owner Periklis and his wife will welcome and offer you a typical greek hospitality service.
We've stayed for 2 nights at the guesthouse over the taverna. The taverna is frequently visited by locals, and although it's off center, it hosts delicious food around the day. We've had delicious tsasiki salad, which tasted much better than the more famous taverna at the city center. The food is fresh, the service is welcoming and the prices are decent. I recommend also to stay at the guest house above. It has clean and tidy rooms, some (like ours) had an amazing view onto the Meteora mountain.

Traditional Greek Tavern with open grill and classic greek cuisine.
Itâs situated in the road direction of the orthodox monasteries. I ate feta grilled cheese and souvlaki of pork and as a dessert orange pie. All were good. The restaurant has a nice terrace. Good choice.

This restaurant is situated opposite the camp site on the main road up to the monasteries and should not be missed. The food is excellent and is very reasonably priced. In fact, if you stay at their apartments, San Giorgio Villas, you will receive a discount. We had salad, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, tzatsiki, bread, water, beer and wine for under â¬25 euros. The food was so good we went back the following night and had the chicken souvlaki. Itâs on the bone, but cooked beautifully. Each meal was followed by a complimentary dessert of melon and a shot of tsipouro. The staff are very friendly and the owner made a point of spending time having a chat. All in all, a very good two meals.
