We stopped in for lunch on a hot day at this mid-beach taverna and were delighted to be warmly welcomed by the busy staff. Food was good-quality, typical Cretan fare (of course we had octopus!), and they also have an extensive cocktail and dessert menu. As noted a few reviews earlier, loved the "disco" restroom - - and they know you'll have a little sand on your feet. Worth noting that this restaurant pairs with a shop in the market street just off the beach that offers good quality souvenirs.

Excellent cretan cuisine, staff very helpfull, competent, human... The menu is about the same as in other restaurants and can satisfy even the most exigent! Lots of fresh fish, local dishes, our favourite: sardines, special omlet, greek salad, octopus... everything is first class really. Decor is very in keeping the local white and blue colors. The owner is very helpful, a real nice local character! BRAVO! We will come back!

We ate in Scala on our only visit to Matala this trip. Following TA advice as usual we were not disappointed. The position is lovely - right at the end of the Matala shops and restaurants right on the sea.
With a large varied menu the food was fresh and well presented and we enjoyed everything we ordered.
Only thing I would suggest is that when the young waiters are dropping the screens by your table that they do not speak Greek and laugh - slightly disconcerting! Rest of the service was impeccable.

Went there for a late lunch after a visit at the Palace of Faistos following TripAdvisor great reviews. I am sorry to report the service wasn't very friendly. The elderly gentleman who served us was quite grumpy and not very welcoming. A shame really as the food was quite tasty. :(

We ate here for the first time the other night and will definitely return before the end of our trip. It was extremely busy and service was slow but Mano and his family were just so friendly towards us that all was forgiven. As others have said, it really is like eating with friends. It was Mano's birthday and we were even given birthday cake!
The food was slow in coming but well worth waiting for. A lot of the evening specials had already gone by the time we ordered so we're keen to return and try some more of Sue's delicious food. It's worth adding that you get exceptional value for money here. Recommended.

Try this for the genuinely fantastic view, especially at sunset and wonderful hopsitality and service. I went in 1988, the year it opened, and returned this year. It has only got better and you wll receive a warm welcome from Nikos and Stelios the owners. Tell them I sent you! The mad englishman who nearly drove off the cliff!

Amazing taverna in Sivas. We came with a big group during a trip and they handled all our numbers and food specifications with patience and great service. Great food (especially different seasonal starters, there's something for everyone)! A lovely, friendly place, cannot recommend any more highly!

Came for dinner, the restaurant Seating is located in the village square under huge umbrellas while the food itself is cooked in the kitchen across the road. Two female maitre de charming but someone over the top with their enthusiasm; ordered the mixed grilled vegetables followed by a moussaka to share. Not alot of vegetables and not much meat in the moussaka main. Service slow, pretty ordinary
