No on site parking available. Need to park car to nearby parking lots. Lowest rate is 600yen for 24hours. Air conditioner needs to be cleaned: very dusty and dirty (not expected this kind of condition in Japanese hotel.

I stayed at the Dormy Inn for 3 nights during the rugby World Cup. First let me state that there is very little to do in Kakegawa apart from visiting the castle, so if you are heading here as a tourist there are probably better places to stay. Back to the hotel ! I arrived a little early (around 12) and my room was not available , so I had to leave my bags in reception and wait until around 3pm to get my key. There was no issue with the language barrier. The hotel is not far from the station with a 10 minute walk along the main road getting you there. The room itself was average size for Japan, but the outlook from the window was pretty bleak onto a back alley. However, it was clean and comfortable there were no issues with the exception of the pillows which were rock hard. All amenities were available in the room although the sink being in the bedroom rather than the shower area was a little strange. The Wi-fi was perfect, but dont look for any English language station on the TV as there was none. In terms of restaurant, there is one for breakfast with a reasonable selection of both Western and Japanese food. I never saw it open during the day or evening. However, as a bonus it does open up around 9.30 in the evening with free ramen noodles for the hungry. Coffee is always available on demand in the foyer which is another good point. On top of the hotel is a typical Japanese thermal bath...great for the aches after a busy day ! All in all a good hotel for the price.....

I spent five nights in the Kakegawa Grand Hotel in September 2019. The hotel is not too expensive but very close to the downtown and the train station. I saw the hotel as we pulled into the train station and I walked to dinner each night to a different restaurant. The Kakegawa Castle was a short walk to the end of the street. The hotel was clean and the staff spoke English with varying degrees of proficiency. Breakfast was good with plenty of western foods in addition to the Japanese items. Eggs cooked to order and a pot of brewed coffee were nice features. A very pleasant stay and I hope to return someday.

I visited Shizuoka for work in July 2010 and stayed in this place for a whole week. As one of our coleagues pointed out "there's no space in the room to even change your mind" (and we stayed in small rooms before, but none were this bad)... The area it's in is quaint, and we were there during some local festivities, so we got to see the locals enhoying themselves playing music in the streets or dressed in the traditional costumes, but there really isn't much near the hotel (even though we did manage to find a few decent restaurants) and this Hotel itself is well bellow standards. I was in Japan for 2 months spending each week in a different city, and as much as I loved the country, and as much as I enjoyed being there, this is definately on the top 3 worst hotels I've ever stayed in.

We stayed here in July 2016 for one night on the way to Kanazawa from Tokyo. I was initially interested in stopping by Kakegawa to check out tea in the area, since it's a famous place for deep-steamed (fukamushi) sencha. Since our schedule was really tight, I was looking for somewhere fairly close to Kakegawa station. Terminal Hotel isn't quite attached to the station, but it's pretty darn close- and I don't think we paid too much more for that convenience, although if you have a car there are some cheaper hotels in Kakegawa a little farther from the station. The front desk staff were helpful, although they spoke limited English- I was able to get by with Japanese. When we were checking in we received complimentary bread, a drink, and also got a can of beer from a prize-draw raffle, which was a fun surprise. The front desk staff were also helpful with arranging for luggage delivery back to the airport for an extra bag we had, through the Yamato "kuroneko" takyubin service (our stuff got there okay so all of that worked out). Our room was effectively a single room with a "semi-double" bed set up for two people, which was fine for us. It was nice and bright during the day with the windows- I'm not a vampire so I consider that a good thing. There was also the usual TV and small refrigerator. The bathroom was the typical standard unit bath, with soap provided. We didn't have any issues with the room, things were clean, although I think that the A/C was a little fiddly, but it was also particularly hot when we were there. The manga library and vending machine were on the floor we were on. I can't comment on the manga selection since I didn't get a chance to look at it, but they're all in Japanese. Good chance to practice some reading maybe, without having to go to Book Off or a manga cafe? While Kakegawa isn't a major city, there's a surprising amount of stuff to do in the area, some of which is within walking distance from the hotel. The castle is pretty much straight down one street, and Honjin dori- an eclectic little side street with mini-izakaya-style bar/restaurants- was also close. There are also a few restaurants and izakaya in the same area as the hotel- so there's going to be somewhere open to eat at night. We opted to include breakfast in the morning- which was buffet-style at a mini-restaurant next door on the second floor. The variety was good- rice, bread, fish, sausage, salad- as well as tea, iced coffee, and juice. After we checked out, we had the front desk hold our bags for a bit while we went to one of Kakegawa's more well-known attractions, Kachouen. We were also able to walk to Kachouen- it was about a mile straight south of the station. Overall, while the room and amenities are rather much in the class of business hotel, we found Terminal Hotel to be perfectly suitable for us on our trip, and we found Kakegawa overall to be a nice town. We would stay here again.
