Vergelegen Restaurant compliments the oasis like hospitality complex it is part of near the Northern Cape town of Kakamas. On the premises you can dine in our intimate a la carte restaurant which had numerous write-ups. Dine at the fireplace or outside on the patio and enjoy a sundowner and hearty meal. A feast of cuisine to excite everybody's taste buds are prepared by our gourmet chef and personally served by the owners. Fully licensed. The decor and style of the restaurant inside becomes the playground for the creative minds of the owners. Simplicity and effective, yet subtle statements, keeps the eye wondering but the mind at ease (relaxed). A space where tourist and business people alike, feel comfortable and looked after.Vergelegen Coffee Shop has established itself as one of the best tea and coffee houses in the Northern Cape. Made famous as the place of inspiration as well as a place to relax and cool down. Experience the magic yourself. Visit us and savour a cup of tea or coffee before venturing out to explore historic Kakamas and the surrounding area.Vergelegen Cocktail Lounge offers lovingly made libations in the heart of the Northern Cape. Our Mission is to help revive the lost art of mixing drinks, striving for balance in every glass. Each day we craft mixers by hand—a selection of specialty liqueurs, syrups, digestifs, and vermouths, as well as a dizzying array of bitters and tinctures—to respect the quality and character of each spirit. From a profound respect for the classics to the adventure of unique flavor combinations, ours is a perpetual quest for the new frontier of the cocktail. We use only local produce, the freshest ingredients, and natural sugars, with a constant nod to the seasons that make up the Kakamas landscape. These passions find their home in our Cocktail Lounge, where conversations abound and drinking is elevated to a culinary experience. Facilities for conferences up to 30 people. Catering available on request. Ideal for private meetings and promotions. Catering for all occasions, venues and functions. Cocktail Lounge/Bar available on premises. The decision to stay another night, by many a guest, was made after their eating experience in this uniquely created environment.
Excelent restaurant with very well done meat main dishes and started. We tryed T-bone, lamb chops and pork ribs and all was amazing, and for starter we ate carpaccio. Quaint coffee shop in histroic building in the Centre of Kakamas. Beautiful Gardens. Serves breakfast, light lunches and hot beverages. Open hours: 8am-5pm Monday to Friday, and 8am-1pm on Saturday, closed in Sunday
When asking locals for a coffee shop in Kakamas, Yanuck will be the first mentioned. Very nice setting, friendly staff and good coffee / eats. There are some local home crafts for sale. Very quant and the staff very helpful (we were given a local newspaper style brochure of about 100 pages of all the local towns and what to see and do - it was the 2015 edition but the host said not much changes so the info would be current ;-). An interesting item on the menu for breakfast: 1 Grandpa and water R10 - locals apparently suffer from headaches in the morning.

Amazing what people create for recreational purposes for themselves and those surrounding little towns. Because when they do not use their own initiative, who will create for them?
This farmer created a lake on his farm, then started organising water ski competitions! His hobby turned into a favourite place for everyone. If you are not into watersport, just enjoy the lunch and dinners, sitting by the lake under cool shady trees and lapas.
I had the freshest salad in a 100 km radius ... could not believe that!
Service is good, the toilets and bathrooms very clean and the food id fresh and well prepared, beautifully presented.
Do yourself a favour and pop by.

Stopped for snacks and refreshments before a days drive, got great home baked goods and dried fruit. It was interesting enough for us to walk around a bit and stretch our legs. Look for it, fun place.
