The smell of barbecued meat from the diners downstairs fills the bedroom. Not only is it smokey and smelly, paper thin walls do nothing to shield the ruckus of the cafe crowd downstairs and you will be tossing and turning restlessly listening to the pitter patter of your neighbouring guests. Internet that disappears mysteriously in the night and a toilet flush handle that seems to go kaput too. They should stick to running a cafe not a guesthouse. Enter at your own peril.

Came across this unassuming restaurant when wandering around the ferry terminal. All eight choices are displayed in photos above the order and serving area. Queue up, make your selection (size and whether hot or cold udon). For me, the poached egg beef bukkake was the best udon Iâve come across. Besides the main, you can pick open and/or tempura. After payment, sit at one of the long tables and start slurping. The broth is full of flavour and I could not resist drinking it down after finishing the udon. The udon is square in cross-section unlike most udon.

We found Cafe Seven Islands on our way to the Ishibashi house of the Japanese art house project in Honduras Port. We decided to take a break there, and were delighted to discover a restaurant that was more like a museum than a restaurant. It is full of masks, art objects, and interesting things. The staff was charming, the shisso juice divine, and we left completely restored. Thanks for the creative and fun rest stop!

Yuunagi is a small restaurant right next to the ferry pier in Miyanoura. It is a small restaurant that serves standard japanese meals like katsu curry. They do recommend the fried flounder set which is good. A good place for a bit either after arrving by ferry or on your way out.

Not many choices in this âdead villageâ .We stumbled upon it and went in .Small Place Converted from a small house .Three choices for lunch ,we had the risotto and seafood curry preceded by excellent miso soup and salad .Both main courses were excellent .Had ice cream with caramel for dessert .3000 yen for the two of us and well worth it .

This is one of the only vegan restaurants in Kagawa Prefecture (according to HappyCow), so I really wanted to check it out. The building/setting is really calming and welcoming. Our group really enjoyed this lovely meal, particularly the unique take on the miso soup. The only thing I was not impressed with was the dessert menu, but everyone loved our lunch sets! If you are hopping around for the Art House Project, this is a great place to stop in for lunch.

One of the reasons why Uogashi 7070 started this service was because there were a lot of complaints that there are only a few choices of restaurants where you can enjoy fresh fish and genuine Japanese food, eventhough Naoshima is located in the Inland Sea
We asked the owner/chef to choose for us and cook whatever he decides. Turned out to be a fantastic idea!Dish after dish was incredibly tasty. Perfect way to end a wonderful day on this beautiful island

We were staying just a 5 minute walk away. Not sure if we would have found this place if we were living elsewhere. It would have been our loss.Small restaurant, seating for maybe 18. Our first time with Okonomiyaki (vegetable pancakes) and they were very good. Grill on our table kept them warm, also the yakitori skewers we ordered. Had beer and a ShÅchÅ« highball to drink. Highly recommend!

Very disappointed by our dinner at the Museum Restaurant. My 10 course "vegetarian" offering (kaiseki) was beautifully presented, but showed no variation in the textures which went from slimy to gelatinous to glutinous . It might be a question of acquired taste, however the tempura was badly executed and the final corn rice dish was not made with a stock. Also It was not entirely vegetarian, as some of the dishes were fish flavored, but I had been warned about it.My daughter fish Menu was equally unexceptional ("grilled tofu" did not appeared to be grilled at all, prawn tempura was heavy etc...). We were a captive audience as we were staying at the Museum hotel, and there is only another option (French restaurant ) within walking distance. Maybe the kitchen knows it too well.

Tucked away down a little laneway, this cafe is a must if you visit Naoshima. The table settings are all unique styles - some with floor seating, others with chairs - that blend together to make a very cool, quaint, yet warm dinning experience. We ate the standard rice curry and also one topped with an omelette. They were simply scrumptious!
