Oneta is a family-run eco-resort in one of the most beautiful and untouched areas of Fiji. Hidden away on an island with no roads Oneta is a peaceful haven for any kind of traveler. You can spend your time relaxing in one of 6 magical Fijian style bures or 2 luxurious villas and play on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji. Snorkel or dive on the pristine Astrolabe reef, one of the world's most beautiful and hidden underwater treasures or go deep sea fishing with one of the best fishing guides in the South Pacific. Experience Fijian village life and culture at its most authentic and learn Fijian crafts and customs that have been passed down for generations. The Kadavu airport will be closed for upgrades from Feb. 6th to March 26th, 2020. Rest assured that Oneta Resort remains open for business and ready to accept guests! We have arranged instead for a boat transfer for our guests that will leave from Pacific Harbor. Our representative will meet you at the Nadi international terminal and drive you down the coral coast to where the boat will depart. It might actually be the better and faster way to get to Ono island.
If you are a snorkeler, this will be your trip of a lifetime. The abundance of fish and healthy reef are first class and the guidance is warm, genuine and well informed. Everything else reinforces this. You wake up to a beautiful breakfast at a table with other people who love snorkeling and diving from all over the world. The staff has taken your breakfast order the night before. I am gluten intolerant so by the second week they had gluten free flour and made me banana pancakes every morning. (A ship has to come out to Ono Island to bring supplies, it is so remote and untouched. This is what makes it so beautiful though.) After breakfast they find the best spot to take you to. This costs a little extra to go with them by boat. We had hoped to have beach access but this wasn’t possible because of the runoff from bad weather, so we had to do the boat but really it was worth it because tide and weather conditions change so much everyday that you have to trust them to take you out to the best place, and they know where that will be minute by minute by monitoring the reefs. The staff is so attentive to everyone’s needs. If you like to swim off a bit and be left alone like my friend does, they let her be but kept an eye on her. If you have a disability like one woman in our group, they literally held her hand at times. They took off our fins as we climbed in the boat, they saw things we definitely would have missed. We traveled to the village on another day and I have fallen in love with the country. I have partnered with Oneta to raise funds for kids in the nearby village who need help with their school. Oneta funds various projects to help the villages, including raising funds to bring solar power to one of them. The people are so beautiful that I am surprised everyone who comes here doesn’t want to help the surrounding villages since it takes so little to give them so much. If you want to bring silk for the churches I think they will be in heaven. The kids want soccer balls.

Find your adventure as you experience the magnificent beauty of a remote unspoiled tropical Fijian Island. Plunging volcanic rain forest slopes meet azure coral lagoons and the Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef, a rare untouched slice of nature unfolds before your eyes. No roads, no noise, no stress and no carbon footprint. Traditional thatched Fijian Bures hug the jungle fringes. Private sun decks gaze over the turquoise lagoon. Dive the reef from the multiple award winning PADI 5 Star Dive Centre, snorkel the marine reserves, explore the jungle trails, or just pamper yourself in the Spa. Relax in the splendor of your private en-suit bure as you contemplate the stunning sunset and anticipate the evening's dinner of fresh fish, fruits and organic vegetables, grown right before your very eyes and served by lantern light on the ocean deck. Far from the maddening crowd, unplug and recharge at Matava, Fiji's premier Eco-Adventure Resort.
My family of five (3 daughters, 10, 15 and 20) stayed at the wonderful Matava Eco-Resort in April of 2022 and we absolutely loved it. The tropical beauty and pristine coral reef diving were among the best I've ever seen, as somewhat expected, but the most unexpected and pleasant surprise was how amazingly kind, generous, joyful, and attentive the people were. The Fijian people actually gave me a different perspective on human nature, and Matava was a big part of that. The food was delicious and the portions were ample. The stars at night drew gasps from our children, the brightest we've ever seen. A day trip to the nearby village and waterfall was not only worthwhile, it was a highlight. It is an "eco" resort with no air conditioning or TV or phones (internet generally available at the main living area), but eco not a hardship, not even for 3 girls. The biggest hardship was the inevitable coping with mosquitoes but the beds have mosquito nets and it wasn't bad at all. We send our heartfelt thanks to Mark, Luke, Sue the chef, Bua, Lai and Lee the dive masters, and especially Ezemeli the amazing manager and capable person who did everything for us!

We absolutely loved our stay here, for so many reasons! It really is a slice of paradise. We enjoyed our 3 night stay in villa number 4, which was such a perfect spot to chill out and be amazed at the everchanging view of the infinity pool, the beach on the doorstep, and the turquoise water beyond! From the sumptuous bed, to the vast walk in robe, to the luxurious toiletries, it was all delightful. We just wished we could have stayed for longer!!! Andrew is the resort Manager, and he was just so lovely to chat with, so professional and personable and very passionate about the island and the people. We arrived by seaplane and departed by helicopter, both such special ways of travelling! The quality and attention to every single detail was superb, from the housekeeping, to the divine food, to the choice of restaurants and the laundry service. Nothing was overlooked. We went to Walker d'Plank restaurant twice while we were here and Caroline was just such a passionate and lovey lady who really knew how to cook! What a delight to enjoy her cooking whist sipping on a cocktail and watching the turtles and baby sharks in the gentle lapping waters in the evening. We simply could not fault this slice of paradise and we will definitely be back again very soon! Thank you!!!

Tiliva Resort is unlike any resort in the Fiji Archipelago. With little noise, light, pollution or people to distract you, your vacation with us will be one of the most peaceful and relaxing that you will ever have. To see the Fiji that dreams are made of, Tiliva Resort is the answer. Tiliva Resort is situated on the pristine island of Kadavu. The resort grounds are situated on a primative archeological site, surrrounded by flora and fauna native to our island. Tiliva Resort is a Padi resort with local DiveMasters to provide the Ultimate experience. If fishing is what you are looking for Tiliva Resort will provide a local guide for a special fishing experience. Snorkeling and Kayaking are free at the resort. Guides and day tours are available for those who desire. Waterfall tours, Birding and Village tours are available for those that have interest.
After travelling around Fiji for 4 months, I can say that Tiliva Resort has been one of my favorite places. Kadavu in general is Fiji at its finest, with pristine beaches and of course the untouched Great Astrolabe Reef. Tiliva is an amazing place to enjoy all Kadavu has to offer. My partner and I were hosted by Maika, Mere and Mere who treated us like royalty. Our bure was spotless and very comfortable, with a beautiful view of the ocean and the idyllic property (great view of Ono Island!). Every meal was a treat - including fresh pastries baked by Mere, and a variety of Fijian dishes which were hearty and delicious. Mere was happy to accommodate for my vegetarian diet. We went scuba diving with Maika, who in addition to being a kind, relaxed, and positive person, is an awesome scuba instructor. The sites he took us to were all spectacular (my partner's favorite after over 10 years of diving), and he was very patient with my beginner scuba diving skills (taking special care of me and always alerting me of what to do in currents and such). Finally, the resort is heavily involved with the nearby village, which is a big plus. It is nice to know that you can support the local community, either by actively volunteering as we did, or simply by being on vacation at Tiliva. We already miss this little slice of paradise and hope to come back one day.

The place itself is very basic, nice comfortable room right in front of the water. Cold water showers and the power turns off regularly but if can get past that it's epic. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The meals are very big and tasty made primarily from local produce. The snorkeling is unreal right in front of the house and the fishing is in a class of it's own. This is not a well known tourist spot but it is so cool if you want to see the real fiji. I can not recommend this place enough, especially for anyone looking to explore new fishing grounds. I will be back for sure probably with a group of friends to hunt some big Gt's. Thank you so much to the staff here, just awesome.
