This charming old hotel in buildings from 1710 has recently been taken over by Tommy Skjødt,who has spent a million kroner on restoring this old Postal Inn with a very good result: lovely comfortable beds in small cosy rooms at reasonable prices including a good breakfast . The restaurant offers typical Danish dishes with a twist and the staff is very helpful.the hotel stands at the centre of this peaceful town, known as the 'Town of Roses'.

We love the menu style of Denmark's upscale restaurants. You pick by the number of courses you want, from 2 to 5, and receive the "fitting" wine for each course. Fladbro Kro was absolutely outstanding all the way around. Elegant atmosphere, wonderful food, fine wines, and super service. As one of the courses we chose kangaroo. Never had it before, so why not. It tasted somewhat between beef and bison. Interesting.

Rarely do we eat in hotel restaurants as they tend to be much the same. However while on holiday in Randers, Denmark, we decided to have dinner at the Randers Hotel restaurant called Mathisen. The menu is only small but the quality of the meals is very good. My wife and I had the salmon and it was excellent; cooked just right and served with a small array of vegetables and a light flavoursome Scandinavian style sauce. The décor of Mathisen also reflects a better quality restaurant.

This historic place is worth a visit. Very good atmosphere in historic surroundings. The sad story about the Hvidsten-group and their appose to the Nazi-occupation of Denmark is very present. At lunch it is very crowded but everybody got served. We got a Danish 'hakkebøf' not the famous local omelette - good choice for us. Come in good time always crowded.
