Jutland's cultural heart, Århus is an exuberant university town with a perfectly preserved old town and a recreated historic village, Den Gamle By. The top draw is the Moesgard Museum of Prehistory, showcasing exhibits from the Stone Age to Viking days and home to the city's most famous citizen, the 2000-year-old Grauballe Man. Access exactly on time and only if ordered. Special concept with fixed menu. Water, wine and beer ad libitum. Very, very reasonable price for really good food that was arranged very inviting. Good selection of white wines and red wines. Something for everyone. Delicious cognac, grappa or Bailey for dessert / coffee. You are sitting pretty close and the noise level is high.

We were off to a good start. Wonderful evening, nice restaurant, great company. Since we were a large group of 12, most of us ordered the 3-course menu to simplify matters for the kitchen. The first course of summer asparagus with hollandaise and brioche was excellent. Then things went on a downward spiral. It took over an hour for the main course to come. The grilled beef with corn puree was good but people's moods all around the table were getting pretty dark. Once the table was cleared, we expected dessert to come quickly. But no. The waiter comes and asks if there is anything else he can get us so I say, "We're still waiting for our dessert, yes?" He forgot! Thankfully, the kitchen didn't so the strawberry mousse on hazelnut crust followed shortly. It was a lovely. They did try to make up by giving us a free pitcher of sangria, extra dessert and a discount. But...In conclusion, if the service matched the food, I would have given the restaurant top rating. Would I go back? Maybe I would give it another chance in the distant future. Would I recommend it? Well, only if you are willing to risk it. Who knows? Maybe your experience will be perfect.Hi, Thank you for taking your time to give us some constructive feedback. It means a lot to us, since it is the only way we can improve and get better.I was told about your experience from the restaurant manager and he also told me, that he tried to make up for the mistakes with the pitchers etc. I truly understand that the whole atmosphere and the mood at the table were getting spoiled from the long waiting time. I want to ensure you that we take this serious and we will dig into what went so wrong at your table and learn from this. If you have anything to add from your evening or a reply to this answer, please do not hesitate to write me at [email protected] again I want to thank you for taking your time to give us this feedback.I wish you a nice day.

We went for the menu with wine and appetizer. The portions were well sized and gennerally quite rich, so we felt full when leaving. As I am allergic to some foods, Møf exhanged the parts I am allergic to without hazzle. All servings were good, but the zuchinni with goat cheese were really great in its own simple way.The place is small, but the acustic are good, so you were still able to talk and hear what is being said.

We had a delightful experience at this restaurant. The menu is fixed with several courses with a wine pairing option. We chose the "Gold menu" and were not disappointed. NOTE: the current menu can be viewed on-line. Everything was absolutely excellent at a very reasonable price considering the quality and quantity of the food and wine. The service was efficient and personable. When we come back to Aarhus for a visit, this will defintely be on our "must visit" list.

I celebrated my birthday here with 8 family members. The staff was beyond accommodating and professional. The food was sublime. It's an expensive restaurant - but well worth the $ on a special night.

Basso Aarhus is social dining with a Italian Twist, in the very heart of Aarhus. The menucard is inspired of traditional Italian dishes, with our nordic legacy.
I unfortunately only had a chance to try their snacks; ravioli, risotto balls, and Fried squids. All were really delicious. The only thing I didn't like was that the portions were extremely small. Especially the ravioli pieces.. But they were all very very tasty. The restaurant is cosy with a nice decoration. Staff is helpful. They serve bread and olive oil until everyone arrives at your table or until you decide what to get. Their bread was fresh and warm. Very nice. They have a social dining concept. Meaning that they won't take your orders until all the expected friends arrive. They offer fixed menus as well as a la carte. I will go there again to try their main dishes for sure.
