After having found the place closed when I was last in town, I encountered it open this visit. Because of the good reviews, I gave it a try. My welcome was almost non existent, but I was allowed to pick my table in the otherwise empty restaurant. I ordered fresh BBQ cuttlefish (sold by weight), and a mixed stir fry vegetable. The vegetable, by far, was the star performer. The sotong was rubbery, and the only BBQ part about it was the spice it was dredged in, after it came out of a very oily wok. It tasted OK, but was not near as good as I had expected. Maybe I should have gone for the salted egg sotong, that they are commended for in other reviews. The price was affordable, about MYR 50, including drink, tax and tip. The service was adequate, if aloof. Meh.

Best dish is ginger spring onion wildboar. If they run out wildboar, can substitute with pork. As good as.Drunken prawns is steam prawns in egg custard with splash of shaoxing wine. Quite watery prawns today. They did the vegetables dish for Caucasian taste. With oyster sauce. Wish they keep with local style just garlic and broth.Loving the Thai fragrance rice is served here. Top notch service here. Closed on Thursday.

This is a very mom & pop shop. Don't expect normal Cantonese restaurant efficiency. They only serve what they serve, and you may get disappointed. Also, I don't really like anything sweet & sour, including the pork served here. Luckily they have one of the best Steamed Fish dishes I've had in years, and a really great black bean sauce which we tasted with squid - the fried onions in this dish were as good as the squid, the plate was licked clean. Steamed Prawn was good, but not as successful. A very nice, if relatively frustrating & slow-going, experience. Rating is for overall experience. Food deserves 4. I'd go back, if I were in Mersing again.

Location is convenient to walk here. Parking is always not that easy in town center.Staff here is quite friendly and efficient. The lady boss would recommend the dishes.Restaurant is quite clean. Food generally ok. Only some dishes are good. We had the fish head curry... good. The signature dish is this and salted egg fried squid. Itâs open the whole day... as compared with the other Chinese restaurants around town where itâs closed after lunch and reopens for dinner.Happy eating
