Gilly's is an American-style Bar & Grille, owned and operated by an American family; and the kind American hospitable attitude immediately shows. Whether you are in Nanjing for a night, or a month on business, they will take you in, treat you to amazing food and drinks, & welcome you in, making sure you feel at home & put a smile on your face. They have loads of activities that range from Darts, board games, pub quiz, 'Mexican Monday' , and the place always has some friendly foreign faces in it to keep the mood great.The beers are reasonably priced, and they always have a cheaper light beer on tap for when you are trying to "ball on a budget". Also have all sorts of fun and unique shots (the Irish Car-bombs there are the stuff of legend)And last but not least, the food. With decades of cooking experience, you will find the owner Tom outside the restaurant there at least once a week with his smoker; smoking up all sorts of delectable meats including Chicken, Steak, Pork, and Salmon (the smoked salmon is a MUST-TRY). If you are looking for a fun and delicious place that reminds you of home, Gilly's is by FAR and away the best place to go in Nanjing.

This Costa is sat on top of a Starbucks and both share a really quite nice courtyard. It's cool just now, and really hot in the summer, but for the short Nanjing Spring, this is THE place for trendy local urbanites to be seen flashing their new Samsung or iPad mini as ostentatiously as possible. Coffee and nibbles as generic and overpriced as ever, but until local competition attempts to cater to foreign tastes, the tourist dollar will be spent in places like this.
