Reviews on Chinese food in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Suzhou is a major city on the lower Yangtze known for its canals, bridges, pagodas, and beautiful gardens. These gardens were built and owned by wealthy families and emperors hundreds of years ago, and make for a pleasant place to wander during nice weather. Suzhou is also a major center for silk production and manufacturing, and a tour of a silk factory here provides an interesting and educational glimpse of this Chinese textile industry. Suzhou is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It's located on the corner of an intersection. Went here because of LP. We both had noodle soup, one with eel and shrimp and the other eel paste with crab. It was fine, lots of noodle, but don't expect anything fancy. Price was too high imo.

Went on recommendation. Fancy and grand restaurant but service is poor. Had hard time trying to get attention of server staff. Some popular dishes were not available and we had to make do with second choices.Food was normal and not outstanding. Or at least nothing to entice me back.

Wan Li Restaurant is an up-market Chinese restaurant offering the finest classical Cantonese cuisine and Huaiyang cuisine in the greater Suzhou area.
As the Chinese restaurant in the Renaissance hotel, it is appropriately elegant.Service is good, the menu extensive and English is understood.Yet, in a town with superb restaurants, Wan Li was a disappointment. The dishes we ordered were rather uninspired, and lacked flavor. Prices are high for Suzhou: you get a nice cup of tea for $10.-.

Great food options, excellent service, cheap beer... what more could you ask for? A wonderful introduction to hot pot for those who might not have experienced it before. The noodle guy was great too.

There's a reason this place is one of the top restaurants in Suzhou. It's almost worth a day trip from Shanghai just to get some of YaBa's fried dumplings. They are crispy on the bottom and filled with amazingly delicious hot pork and broth. There's no English signage or menu and the staff doesn't speak English, but don't let that deter you. Pull up a photo of the front entrance/sign (there are plenty on TripAdvisor) so you can recognize it. Ordering is easy - show them a photo or just point to one of the dozens of plates of dumplings all around you. The friendly staff helped us figure out where to take our receipt. Seriously do not miss this place, especially if you're already planning on stopping through Suzhou. After a 3 month trip all throughout China, we're still craving YaBa's fried dumplings.

Service was slow, and the waitresses seemed uninterested in serving three foreigners, compared to a party of about 5 Chinese. However, once we gained attention, the order was delivered promptly and with a smile. We ordered dumplings, spring rolls and broccoli and all were tasty and hot. We also had chrysanthemum tea which was delicious. Total cost was about $A20 - excellent value.

Awesome view. Be there by 8pm, you will be able to see dancing fountain by the lake from the restaurant. They do have a good range of menu both traditional and fusion. Staff are somewhat professional. Place will definitely impress first time tourists.Hello EnzOnTour, What an amazing review!
