We stopped at the Traders Fudu Hotel in Changzhou for lunch yesterday while on our way to Shanghai. When we popped in at 1.05 pm, the waitress reminded us that we would have only 25 minutes to pick our food unless we ordered a la carte. But we have little option as the a la carte items were not cheap and the buffet seemed t be a better deal. So, we quickly moved around the buffet counters and covered our table with several plates of different food/dishes.The Coffee Garden did provide many choices and varieties. But the quality was just average. Even though it was near closing time, some of the staff behind the cooking counters were either chatting amongst themselves or nowhere to be found. There were many almost empty trays/pots. Those that were still available were dry and unpleasant looking. At the end, we did fill up our stomachs before leaving, though.The lesson I learnt and wish to share with you is: if you go to a buffet, make sure you will be there as soon as the restaurant is open for business, and never arrive later than one hour or more before closing. Otherwise, go for a la carte.

C.F. Cafe or C'fine as they've rebranded themselves is sort of in the style of Element Fresh but with more bread and pastries. Their traditional French loaf is spectacular, they do one of the better Western brunches in town, and their pizzas and fresh fruit and vegetable juices are usually crowd pleasers. What's more, the Sanjing restaurant, inside a converted factory is a really neat use of space.

CF Cafe does a lot of things well. Its rustic French loaf is one of the best European style breads you'll find in Changzhou, the brunch options are comforting, and there's plenty for even the vegetarians and the health-conscious to eat. And if you pull out your laptop before 11am on a weekday, a free piece of cake magically appears.
