Jefferson is a city in Greene County, Iowa, United States, along the North Raccoon River. The population was 4,345 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Greene County. It is the home of the Mahanay Memorial Bell Tower, 168 feet (51 m) tall, located on the town square, and visible for miles. This is a nicely decorated, friendly staffed, reasonably priced place with great tasting food. I understand why they are number one! Just off of highway 30 this restaurant is definitely worth the trip! Marcydiner tantrum scale of 5/5-no screaming kids.

We were at the tower where the guide pointed out the coffee shop. We hiked a block quickly before closing time. Ashley and Mason were very friendly and accommodating. They took their time making sure the coffee was brewed just right. They also gave us suggestions on other things around town. This is a great coffee shop for a small town. I hope they stay in business. Our town has closed many of the little shops .
Great service, products, atmosphere and price.

Our claim to fame is our fresh daily homemade donuts and our friendly smoke-free atmosphere. We also serve delicious bagels, pastries, decorated cakes, coffee, cappuccino, deli style sandwiches, soup, and Blue Bunny Ice Cream.
In our family, Bunkers Dunkers are for special days because any day is special when it includes Bunkers. Remembering each other's favorite is one way we show each other we care. My own favorite - cream filled with chocolate frosting, while my husband prefers a glazed raised donut. I often recommend the donut holes when people want a treat to share, because at two bites each, they're just about guilt-free for the lucky ones eating. Even a dieter can enjoy one donut hole. In 20 years, I've never had a Bunkers Dunkers donut or sweet roll I didnt' enjoy.

The Peony Chinese Restaurant is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Chinese restaurant. And it's in JEFFERSON! The food is fast, you get tons of it, and the lunch menu is really reasonably priced. The evening meals are more expensive, but the quality of the food makes up for it. Their take-out is nearly always ready to go in 10 minutes so you can get a great meal right away. I recommend the chicken lo mein. Yum.

When you visit Jefferson, be sure you make time for lunch at Angie's Tea Garden! I have never had anything here that I didn't absolutely love. Their food is fresh, creatively prepared and delicious. They serve you one of their famous cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting with every entree. They are so good that folks often place an order of the rolls "to go".
Last week we ordered a dessert that I was sharing and, to be honest, I wasn't all that excited about it. But, when it arrived at our table, it was scrumptious as well.
They are often full, so I highly recommend calling ahead for reservations to be sure that you don't miss the outstanding opportunity to try Angie's while in Jefferson!

I am disappointed because I do have a soft spot for Dairy Queen's lunch menu. However, I have to stick with the rating. Slow, slow, slow which of course I am sure is to save costs. Also missed my special order. So I can't justify a higher rating. Food was hot. Surprised that they don't toast their buns. Would have made it better.

I had never been to a real A&W drive inn before but it was pretty good. We ate inside and you find a table and you order from a phone at your booth. The service was fast and friendly.

We recently ate at Doc's Stadium in Jefferson, Iowa and the food was very good Pub style fare. My favorite there is the Ruben sandwich. Their corned beef is sliced a little differently than most other places and for some reason I like it better but really can't say why. As always Bret, the owner, and the wait staff are always friendly and appreciate our business, something that makes me want to go there again.

Well kept and well managed store
Buy the chicken to go and tenderloins on a fairly consistent basis - both good buys.
Like the bulk food section where I can purchase however much I want.
Enjoy the Thursday night trivia in the restaurant area.
Also seems to have at least one bottled beer six pack on sale, very good selection of Iowa wines.

Employees were not friendly they appeared to be bored and didn't want to be bothered with customers.
This is your typical BBQ without much flavor. My first clue should have been the customer ahead of us ordered his sandwich with extra BBQ sauce. We had a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich with FRITS, slaw and beans. Brisket was dry with no smoked flavor, slaw tasted old, baked beans had more smoke flavor than the meat. Pulled pork was slightly moist but again no smoked flavor. FRITS, fired potato chips, were not crisp. Over all I'd recommend one of the other restaurants in Jefferson.
