Things to do in Mazamitla
Wait staff just stood around talking and had to be called to serve us. Cappicino seemed to be out of a box and was cold. Coffee was like dishwater. Pancakes were burnt but also cold. Bacon undercooked. Obviously no pride in food prep or Service would NOT go!!!
This was our first time here. We enjoyed our visit. They have a simple but good menu. My wife ordered the pork sandwich and I ordered a combination (ribs and chicken). What we ordered was very good.
Excellent food and service. Surprisingly had a bilingual waiter for mostly a group of English speaking residents. We had a party of 10 everyone was pleased with their entree. Although the restaurant is a smokehouse they have vegan and seafood options. My husband had salmon. I had a great tuna steak. Many in our group had beef ribs or pork ribs which were obviously very tender. The potatoes were grilled and superb. The restaurant interior is very modern upscale reminds me of many in Mexico City. The exterior blends in well with the local construction. Even the restroom has clever decor. One wall with many dichos.

The main reason for visiting the beautiful mountain retreat is not for the food, but the experience of a Mexican "magic town". There is only one per state, and Mazamitia is the one for Jalisco.Restaurant El Charo has good basic food, well presented and with a friendly service. There are no English translations.
Mestizo is a restaurant & bar with international cuisine which has as the main objective the mixture of gastronomic cultures.
We started with the tuna tower, which was fresh and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his fetuccini Mestizo with chicken. I ordered the salmon with cauliflower puree and lentil salad. The house red was very good. Beautiful outside seating 9n the upper level balcony with a view the the plaza.

You must visit this place that is full of history.Indeed the building has a lot of family history and has being in Mazamitla for decades. They offer typical dishes and the best are their frijoles and their home made corn tortillas. So delicious.Prices are very accesible and the staff attention is very good. Besides that you can have breakfast and continue walking over by the main square and the market.

The restaurant is a little walk up the street from the plaza, but is large and busy for a Sunday brunch. Even though it was busy, service was good. Hours are a little strange, 9 AM - 6 PM
