Bar and restaurant on the sea, near the port of Filicudi.
I am a sailing skipper and therefore I have a broad experience of restaurants by the sea in Sicily.Well, this place might not serve the best p, fanciest food and granite might not be the absolute best (as complained by another user)... nonetheless I think that overall it deserves at least a 'very good'... It has a familiar atmosphere, an absolute insular feeling and if they don't serve the best, they still provide good food not overcharging just because of their location (something that other people might do).
Cucina semplice ma gustosa e genuina. Very good quality/cost ratio. They cook only what freshly fished.

I have been to La Sirena a few times over the years whilst visiting Filicudi on a boat (note Pecorini a Mare is a much better anchorage than the main port). You can't compare La Sirena to other restaurants in other places - it is apples and oranges. This is step back to a gentler quieter time before the mass tourism industry got going. Everything is idiosyncratic about this place - it is really the embodiment of Filicudi. Fabulous views from the terrace over the sea to Alicudi. They have the Sicilian favourites maybe with a bit of homespun substitution when the delivery boat is running late. Everybody here is family so grab a Messina, Malvasia, gelato (a very well informed and demanding 7 year old gave them 10 out of 10 for the cioccolato) or a plate of pasta and step back in time to a quieter stress free world whilst taking in the magnificent vista and turning accidental acquaintances into friends.

We went here with a recommendation from a French couple who were on their 10th holiday in Filicudi. You don;t order. The lady of the house tells you whats fresh and cooks for you whils you wait at the table in her verandah. No view, but good homely Sicilian cooking at very inexpensive prices.

We ate here twice, encouraged by the friendly and welcoming atmosphere on our first visit. We ate perfectly cooked grilled fish (swordfish, tuna) and stuffed vegetables, When we inadvertently arrived before opening time on the second day, the manageress simply brought us some wine, a plate of sun-dried tomatoes and one of olives along with some bread, and left us to eat those until the chef arrived and she could give us the menus for the evening! Very good caponata and stuffed peppers along with local fish we'd never heard of (lampuga, ricciolo). Simple food but very well cooked; enjoyable local wine, reasonable prices. We couldn't have asked for more.
Magnificent terrace overlooking the bay of Filicudi, a magical atmosphere where you can taste freshly prepared fish dishes by our chef, listening to the beautiful sound of the sea breaking on the cliff below. The structure is also equipped with a receptio
