Kanazawa's rock bar. The universe's rock bar. Good selection of drinks, some food as well. Check the menu. By the way, there's a standard ¥1,000 cover, but it's worth it for the universe.
I was travelling with my girlfriend around Japan and we had an absolute blast. Words don't describe... such an incredible country. But out of all the places we went to and saw, this was the one place I found myself constantly telling friends about when I got home. From the moment you walk in, it's just epic. Our eyes popped out of our heads! The pictures above are good but seriously, this place is so unique and so full of character, it beggars belief. The owner is also a unique guy. Super friendly and accommodating. We spent the night chatting with him (obviously in English) and some of the other customers around us. So much fun. At one point he turned the background rock music off and we wondered what was going on. He then walked to the back of the place and got one of his guitars off the wall. We heard the amp click and buzz and then boom, full on live rock music and REALLY good at that. We looked at each other in astonishment!A few hours later and some other customers came in. I guess they were regulars as, again, the owner turned off the music, went to the "live" area and a couple of the new customers followed. One on drums, one on bass.... oh, man... it was INCREDIBLE.Long story short, if you're in Kanazawa, GO TO STURGIS.You'll have a very, very good night and one hell of a story for your friends.

Called in for a Martini after getting some noodles nearby and after reading their menu decided to come back the next night for drinks and dinner. Fantastic...great atmosphere, good value cocktails of great quality and the food was simple but delicious. I wish I had this near my home...all the staff were very helpful and happy, just go and chill out but pace yourself as you can end up drinking way too much....thanks Bambi.

Whether youâre desperate not to have to eat another Japanese meal, or you are just looking for some variety, or youâre an American-foodie... Blue Moon offers it all: solid hamburgers, Cajun jumbo, caesar salad, quesadilla... the dishes, the way they are presented, the plates on which the food is served and the accompanying salt shaker and ketchup dispenser... it reminds you of american food. Authentic, as is the american trained chef. Not expensive. Fresh ingredients. Friendly, English speaking service.
We are a cozy bar which is loved by locals and travelers from all around world. We are located in a hostel however, it doesn't matter if you stay in our hostel or not! You can enjoy local beers and local drinks as Kanazawa plum wine and sake with some sna
We stayed at the Emblem Stay and went to have a drink at the bar located near the lobby. There's a large variety of beverages. We had awesome cocktails with japanese gin! The atmosphere there is great! You must get there at least once when you get to Kanazawa!

We found this shop on Google map after a long walk along Asanogawa river. When we turned at the corner to the shop, we were brought back to 19th century. The beautiful wooden gate and the well-maintained front garden welcomed us. Inside of the shop/house and the back garden is even more fantastic. The scenery from the cafe, on the second floor, is also great. Friendly staff told us what we could see and hear through the windows. A nightingale was singing somewhere in the garden at the moment. Lovely! We luckily could meet the manager of this shop, Kazuko who is not usually there in daytime, and he is very kind and got lots of knowledge so we really enjoyed talking with him. After they close the cafe and the gallery in early evening then they open Japanese restaurant and bar at the same place. If you are interested in Japanese architectures and gardens and looking for unusual experiences, I strongly recommend you to visit here.Nice coffee/tea, with a little trick, and cake are good deal!In the gallery, you could buy various types of potteries made by Japanese artists. There are more reasons we want to visit this authentic, also comfortable place again but I can't tell you all. You must visit and find out!Dear nascats6,Thank you for finding us using google map.We are happy to hear that.We are proud of our beautiful garden, rooms, and of course The wooden gate. The nightingale's tweets are always making an impression on me.How about you?We are waiting for your next visit.Thank you very much.Kazuko
Stumbled across this by accident and a pleasant surprise, top IPA on tap Tried a couple of local ales, Session IPA, fruity, citrus hint but refreshing. Also tried Marihana, again, a session IPA , stringer but still very light . Going to be back I think !

HUNI is a modern izakaya restaurant. The restaurant has open kitchen with counter seats and couch and tatami room and Buddhist art space upstairs. We hope you stay relaxing at home in the riverside restaurant! (art-info: takuohasegawa.com)
We learned about this place by referral from a coffee place we visited (Curio), and it turned out to be a great find. Itâs right on the canal, and, if you sit at the bar/counter, you look out over the river. Only one person working when we arrived early, but he happily made us cocktails and lots of small plates of tasty food that we shared. Japanese food but with some modern takes.

After a busy day of sightseeing, with tired feet, we wanted a beer after looking around Higashi Chaya District. Then we had gyÅzas as a snack, more beer, and ended up ordering their fresh and delicious pizzas. Not very Japanese (aside from their craft beer brewed onsite), but just perfect. Friendly staff and good music.
